There was an incident in Honduras about 3 years ago. The president wanted to run for another term, and the Supreme Court denied him the opportunity (I think because he was term limited). There was a lot of stuff and he was eventually overthrown (mostly peacefully). My dad works for the US Govt in Honduras, so I know quite a bit about it. Apparently the ex-pres holed up in the Brasilian embassy for like 5 months, and then quietly left the country.

The US government failed to intervene but expressed disappointment with how it was handled, so I guess that means that we were complicit with the leftists, at least to Santorum.
