Off the top of my head I can't seem to remember any Shounen lead that is not love oblivious. Naruto, Luffy, Ichigo, Oga... maybe the Gamaran kid? He seems like a player
Well I suppose Kenshin is not one of those too. His developed romance with Kaoru, and Tomoe, was one of the reasons why he's so awesome as an a awesome Shounen lead.
But I really like recent Beelzebub chapters. Its battles are predictable, cliched, and dangerously veering towards the boring side of the equation but its light-hearted comedies are awesome.

Gambling Emperor Zero vol 1
I love it. This is exactly what I wanted from a Fukumoto manga and since the Kaiji scanlation scene is a mess, this is the next best thing.
Zero is a pretty good MC. Unlike Kaiji, he is already hailed as a genius which I found surprising. I thought we will get another loser trying his best to change his life and getting flashes of genius at the critical moments. Poor Mitsuru sacrificing himself and getting out of the competition very early. He was the coolest looking one out of the loser Zero gang but oh well.
Also that new rich villain isn't that terrifying. Bold people just don't look menacing enough. But I'm sure he will do some dickish things later on.

In terms of character psychology, it's Kaiji-lite, but the stakes are MUCH higher. For that reason, you could say the old guy is even more of a dick than Hyodo. Don't know if I would call him menacing as much as I would call him a colossal asshole.

The chapter finally arrived. In the anime it was one of the four most unforgettable scenes. Though it felt just as emotionally intense as it did then. A goodnight kiss which really wasnt. Still mad at Shion just leaving Nezumi in the dark like that. He left him in tears, ugh.

No one can pull these 2-3 chapter arcs about a made up game. They always end up being boring and shitty.

The room puzzle was pretty intense. They went for the whole "impossible to find" solution and we got a math based puzzle instead. I don't know why they thought the angle sign was hidden well. I'm sure anyone with a brain would have looked at the corners to check for any clues.
Also the fingers gamble was just badass. I want more gambles of that caliber. Intense, mysterious and have high stakes. Plus Zero just put Conan to shame with all these awesome observation skills. Too bad they fucked him out of a star.

I admit it seems interesting but time and again my desire to checking it out was dashed by the fact that the story was written by Oh Great. Which means clusterfuck. Which means plot nonsense. Which means there will be lots of times when I will shake my head saying WTF.
Too bad he did not just stick with drawing though... that dude really can draw.

Pretty alright 3 volume series about some falsely accused military dude charged with grave digging for deadly immortal monsters all while falling in love with some monster girl. Kind of like a slightly happier (yet gorier) Saya no Uta.
I do like the art even if it was hard to follow sometimes.

I'll be honest here the chairmen aren't really that amazing. Some fabulous things can happen when Kumagawa combos with that sleep girl though.

Now this is how you end a story. Yayoi Ogawa showed to me once again, if there was even a need, that she's a pretty good storyteller, able to develop her characters well and able to tackle some deep issues while still keeping the manga base point, the ice skating, interesting and relevant.
There are a couple scenes I'd love to scan just to post (like the sweating fatso saying he doesn't feel like cheering for Michiru anymore
), but I'd have to go and connect the scanner and I don't feel like doing it now.
I'd really suggest to anyone that likes josei, to check this one out, since it is (slowly) being scanlated.

He acts like a complete moron in this volume to his girlfriend, well, ex-girlfriend, as he drops her after ignoring her for a while. Manyon dieing isn't a good reason to act like a piece of shit to all the other people that go on with their lives or to his girlfriend coming crying after hearing about the incident, with Takahashi acting all pissed off to her for no good reason and dismissing her like she's worth less than shit, especially when you're such a dimwit playing the part of the tough guy in a biker gang.
guts does something horribly painful to slay the enemy, looks like a badass, falls over once its all done.
he wakes up a bit later and the witch loli admonishes him for being careless, the boy goes on about gutts being really cool and gutts and caska share a glance that ends with her looking away angrily.
When Oh Great visits America, he makes sure only to pay with credit or check. He knows if he uses cash he might make cents.

Mina's "fake" was outed (though they play the card that she's the real one, while the old Mina was the fake, but I don't believe that) and Akira is now gone searching for the other Mina, I just hope it won't take too long for him to find her and I hope nothing too drastic happened to real Mina.

Medaka Box 130 - To break the trend I guess, I like the game a bit. Trying to keep up with in my head is a little annoying so thankfully it had a recap at the end. That said, I do kind of want to get back to the Medaka/Zenkichi plot here since I'm not really a huge Kumagawa fan anyway.
