That was a surprising and epic chapter. Lovely way to get Jellal into the plot, and even then, with the bonus of a Dragonslayer showoff page, epic. The first event seems pretty compelling and astounding already with my favorites Gray and Lyon already set to take the stage as well as, Eve. Next Friday can not come soon enough. Definitely one of the biggest surprises of the year already.

I don't really care about how the characters get there now, it's good that they're there. It all comes down to the buildup which we knew Mashima was never good at.
I wanted more games than fights but I guess 50/50 is better than nothing. Anyway I like FT in these kinds of activities so I'm going into this guilt-free.

Gambling Emperor Zero vol 3-5
These last 3 volumes were perfect. The games were just amazing. The Quarter Jump was a psychological mindfuck. That rich dude is one crazy motherfucker making Zero compete against that genius kid. Zero had all the odds against him and he still managed to survive. Backstabbing old friends, dude that uses a machine to imitate his friend's voice and using the mirrors to get rid of the blindside weakness of the walls. And to top it off the rich dude was gonna kill Zero right after he won. It actually reminds me of beam walking game from Kaiji where that one guy actually made it but then the wind pressure killed him.
And then came the Witch's Slaughter game. One of the best things ever. My heart just can't handle this shit. One trial after the other and just when you think they are saved, bam, another deadly trial starts. I didn't like the use of math puzzles in it, but in the end it didn't mater. The tension in each witch puzzle was just too fucking intense.
This is just amazing. I really wish Zero would get animated. The Witch's Slaughter game is just too perfect. I know they rarely adapt old complete manga as anime, but I'm guessing if they get a live action film deal going on then it could happen. Wasn't that the only reason Kaiji got a second season even though the first one flopped?

It's funny, because just like in the manga, part 1 of the anime is superior in almost every way to Shitpudding.
I stopped watching after the masterpiece that was episode 167. It was the climax of the series, the denouement! The anime will never get this good ever again.
They introduced a new character, cartoon Pein.
