Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 'Enhanced Edition', 4+ hours bonus content, out April 17th

They tried this with TW1 for 360 (called rise of the white wolf) but the port house didn't meet expectations and the project was cancelled.

I think that's mostly because it was using Biowares Neverwinter Nights engine which is horribly otpimized and only uses one core. Even on my 2500k@4,5GHz and GTx580 I got some framedrops in the trade district and in a certan part of chapter 4 my fps sometimes dropped to around 20.

Wasn't ROWW going to be on an all new engine?

This my friends is how you port a game from PC to Consoles. They could have EASILY released this as originally planned during the holidays, but they wanted to fine tune the game to the 360 and ensure that it was a proper "adaption" of the PC version of the game. I hope 360 owners (which I am one of) appreciate what CDPRJ has done with this game because they are one of the rare studios that actually listen to their fans.

We don't see that much from the majority of companies these days. 38Studios (Kindoms of Amular) are also on the path of being game fans and listening to the community like CDPRJ are. Heck, even Curt S. (CEO of 38 Studios) is now posting on Gaf. When was the last time a president of a game developer posted on Gaf?

Anyways, I played the hell out of this game on PC and plan to also get the 360 version just to support them. You guys are going to love this game so much and your must play through it at least twice because unlike most games, decisions actually do matter in this game and the content you get is dependent on your choices.

So Gamestop seems to be the only place with a pre-order up for the "Dark" edition.

They get an exclusive keychain, which is tempting, but it already comes with a medallion. Although I would use keychain more, I guess, but It probably isn't worth the extra tax, depending on the Amazon bonus.

But the price is 99.99. Didn't the video say 79.99? Maybe just a precautionary price? It would suck if it was that expensive, since I will be buying regardless.

That intro... holy shiet, beautiful graphics, good stuff that i waited for this for my 2nd time playing this game, i hope we have more Trish and Broche.

Aw, shit. Worst place for the keychain exclusive, I want that thing. GS always gets the best ore-order stuff. Amazon will probably be an XBL avatar at best :lol

And yeah, it's supposed to be $79.99, maybe just a placeholder price.

Amazon gets the Digital Comic.

Jesus, that trailer is unreal. I wanna play THAT game.

Haven't really been able to get into it, stuck in the first hub town. Don't like the setting I guess.

The artbook in this is like 40 pages more than the one in the PC edition

Im gonna end up buying this game a 2nd time aren't I :(

I have the GoG version with all of the digital goodies but I'd love to have that physical art book. Maybe I can split the cost with a buddy who wants the 360 version but doesn't care about the CE stuff.

Just in time for my birthday.

I'm doing my part PC gaf. You may not like my platform of choice, but at least I'm supporting one of your favorite games.

I wonder if Gamestop decides that 70$ istoo low for such packagage and forces the price to 100$

I assume it is either a mistake or a placeholder. They must have rushed to get it up before receiving actual product information. Nobody else has it up, and the only place the price is actually listed is the streaming video.

You may notice you can't even add it to your cart at the moment, anyways.

reading this thread ive noticed not a lot of ppl are aware that PC users will get the content xbox is getting for free on the same day the xbox version is released. I am glad console players get to enjoy the best rpg this generation. It relaly puts skyrim to sham ein terms of storyline, gameplay and lore. It really beats bioware in the decision making structure as well. You will have to replay it twice to see it all, cause the decisions you make will give you a completely different act II; and i mean, COMPLETELY different.

I'm very hyped for this as most of GAF has praised it so much. I just hope it's really that good and not another Xenoblade (decent game but not nearly as good as many gaffers make it out to be).

Purchased on PC and I'll buy it back on 360 (because I love the game and CDPR, but also because my laptop ran it only in "low" and it would be a good excuse to replay it).

Depends entirely on the type of games you enjoy. For some [like me] it was exactly the kind of game I sought - a mature storyline, somewhat open but limited in scale game-world and real-time combat. For others it's going to be good, but not worth the hype because they either dislike the political themes of the story, find the combat dull or to difficult, dislike Geralt as a character and so on.

Go in expecting a good game, but don't go in expecting to find it utterly amazing - your expectations will be far to high and you'll inevitably end up disappointed.

Yeah, I agree with this. As much as I love the game there's going to be people burned by the aggressive political themes and difficult combat. It's not a casual, cheesy high fantasy romp like Skyrim.

I don't know if it's of any interest to anyone, but Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of The Witcher series, announced that said on a radio show that he's writing a novel set in The Witcher universe, to be released in 2013. The last novel was released in 1999 and this was kind of unexpected at this point.
Or maybe he was trolling his fanbase.

Free upgrade on PC is awesome.

Usually I'd be worried that a dev would start to look more at consoles and forget PC (Hey, Crytek) but I don't think that will be the case here.

I can't read his first novel because it's written pretty badly. It is good in Polish? The short stories were good though and much better than the novel I started reading.

I was 13 when I read them, don't rely on my judgment to much. At the time though I thought the short stories, the first novel and the first half of the second were excellent and it went downhill from that point. I'm not the type to re-read books (I think the only two I ever read twice were 1984 and Brave New World), so I'm not going to check if my perspective today would be different, even though the books are still there on my shelf.

Is there any combat footage of the 360 version? One concern I do have with the UI is that I think the combat log text is too small. It's pretty much the only indicator of how much damage you're doing but it's actually sort of hard to notice for me.

That's the first extended video I've seen of the 360 version. I'm amazed at what they were able to do. Framerate looks solid, it's hard to get a sense of the textures with the quality of the video, the lighting looked a little flatter but overall it looks great. I'm glad that more people are going to have a chance to play the game and that the new players are going to be playing what looks to be an excellent port.

Edit: Yikes. That was not the ending I got on my play through. I finally see the spoiler people were talking about when the live stream was running. Why would they even consider showing the end of the game in a demo to a new audience?
