Curleh Mustache Tournament Series 2 - UMvC3 Invitational

damn watching Eddie lee just makes me say RIP chinatown fair :( I haven't been to next level yet, just haven't had the heart to since the demise of the greatest arcade ever.

I respect the fundamentals, the defense, and the zoning, but Eddie needs to start playing Marvel 3.

He seems like he's not ready for the "Just Do It" attitude a lot of players have.
Yup, the skills are solid and I respect it all, but his strategies are not working. I'm actually still confused how he even won that first match against MarlinPie. MarlinPie just wasn't playing like himself at all there.

Also him missing the Haggar LVL3 because Andre was in blockstun was a heartbreaker.

I think we're seeing how solid his MvC3 game is in this series against Andre. Most tourney players can end up looking just as lost against Marlin if he gets in with Viper.

That stick killed him. :()
You not watching that air movement? Straight Marvel 2.
Yeah, that was straight up MvC2. I don't know much about the older games, but I could see that pretty quick and it was weird seeing that in a one touch game like Mahvel 3.

A character like Haggar really should have a level 3 that moves him forward a bit...

He played a lot more aggressive this time around, but still hoarding too much meter and not finishing his combos. Maybe it's the stick?

But your right, if you've never played Viper before, let alone the best Viper, you'd look pretty free too. In a tourney against so many seasoned MvC3 vets with so much experience against other MvC3 vets, you may not have all the answers.

"Beserker Charge right back into Vice City"

Good shit.

I remember someone saying Wesker is the best grappler in the game, and it's kinda sad to see that is still the case.

You've got a pretty narrow definition of the grappler archetype...

Fuerte and Abel are two characters where their Ultras (which I guess count as Level 3s for sake of argument) move them forward.

Grapplers from SF2 and beyond very rarely get to move during Level 3s.
Gief's Level 3 in Marvel 2 didn't move him forward.
Hugo and Alex in Third Strike didn't get to move forwards.
Hell, She-Hulk's Level 3 doesn't move her forward, but the car hits for minimal damage if it whiffs.

It's not a "narrow view," it's how grapplers are designed.

Some Chris G again...

Eh, it's not a very good design choice for most grapplers as far as I can tell and it certainly doesn't help Haggar. It's late and I don't care enough to argue about it anyway.

She Hulk has a grapple that moves forward.

She Hulk has a grapple that moves forward.

In order for the actual grab animation to hit, she has to be close. The car will hit if the grab misses, but it's not the same thing. The discussion was Level 3 grabs, also. If the it was expanded into ALL grabs, then there wouldn't be a discussion happening right now.

I think he means her QCF grab special move. Or even her AA grab hyper.

Hey, let's not forget that Abel's Breathless depends on a armour hit which renders it useless against anybody has a reversal attack. Then Fuerte's Ultra Spark exists only as a punish against jump-ins or as an amazing focus attack cancel. Both moves depend on the oponent doing something stupid.

Moving forward means shit next to being able to pull some random bullshit like Ultimate Atomic Buster that's instant in the grappler game.
