I think there are some new ED songs or something.

They also fix some of the derpier faces, I think.

I know they added extra detail to one of the fight scenes.
It was a fairly big improvement to Sayaka's fight against that one Witch.

So I guess nothing too important to warrant a sudden re-watch.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 12
I was actually pretty surprised that we got introduced to new students, though I guess they pretty much knew they had a second season to go for.
I did like the original opening being brought back. It really got me pumped for the show of despair.

Poor Lan I felt so bad for her the entire episode. Same for Jim, whom had nice action figures on his workstation.

So glad Array wasnt forgotten and escaped epically and finally movement on their front. I hope they arent antagonists, or being led astray by KISS

Episode 3 of Madoka was the most memorable for me and left me unable to watch the anime for a few days.

Nisemonogatari 4 - WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY... I felt so dirty watching this episode.;_;

Rinne no lagrange 4 - Solid episode, this show thus far is nothing special in terms of characterization and plot, but they are doing a good job of executing it, in particular I really liked the overall breezy tone this episode had, as well as all the yuri overtones HNNNNNGGGGG.

High School DxD (ep4)

I'm also reading the manga of this series which I started first. It is the oddest thing, the times in the anime when there is little fan-service, it is turned up in the manga. And the opposite is true. So between the two it's a huge concentration of fan-service.

I do wish it was turned down in both though the anime is much worse. DxD actually has a really fun plot. It just for some reason requires tits every scene.

I preferred it in the manga where the
demon Asia saved killed a bunch of their own.
The anime didn't mention it so it was really just thrown out there. I also thought it was dumb in this episode when Issei for some reason knew the
promotion chant.

Ashita no Joe 5:
Good stuff. Joe's starting to come across as a more complex character. Not necessarily a likable guy, but there's clearly a lot going on with him, and I'm enjoying seeing how his current situation is effecting him. Danpei remains a really likable guy, too. The scene when Joe threw those jabs was pretty breathtaking. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Zero no Tsukaima F - 04:

Damn, even the haremshit is moving at lightspeed this season. And even during a haremshit episode they are squeezing in crazy plot development. I'm pretty sure that
Tabitha Charlotte's mom being cured of her insanity
is a pretty big plot point but they just nonchalantly crammed it in between some other scenes because they clearly had bigger fish to fry, like Melon-chan and Lemon-chan. Well, we got Tabitha back at the end so Saito won't be missing out on anybody in his harem! Though I'm still not sure how it's really a harem when Louise is the only one he really wants to be with. Seriously, those two just need to fuck already and then the rest of the harem would just go away. Except, you know, this is only episode 4 and they need to keep the haremshit up until the end at least. I just hope this show ends as conclusively as Toradora did in that context.

My order of ZnT OPs:
I Say Yes (S2) > First Kiss (S1) > I'll Be There For You (F) > You're The One (S3)

Lagrange 4

Mmm yuri....wan wan wan wan wan. Solid straightforward episode, Mugi and Lan's antics this episode were pretty great.

Well, regardless of how many people became Cures over the course of the show, the tactic of attempting to divide friends based on their differences could have worked against any combination of characters, not just Hibiki and Kanade. For a few episodes after Siren's (indeed, she was the cat-turned human) conversion, the villains attempted to fill her with doubt that she would ever truly be accepted by Hibiki and Kanade (and consequently she performed poorly in battle during this time), but after that the whole concept of "harmonizing" or "cooperating based on what we have in common" vanished and everyone just got along perfectly. With enough creativity they could have kept it going for the remainder of the show instead of resorting to slugfests.
Hah, I suppose so. I haven't watched one of these shows to completion, but I figure they feel the need to change it up eventually. How many people ended up on the team anyhow?

MY EYEEEZ, ZEE YURI GOGGLEZ, ZEY DO NUZZING!

There's actually two separate stories going on in this episode.

The first story is about Madoka, Lan, and Mugi. Mugi clearly knows a lot more about what is going on than she lets on, and she has some interesting gear like those awesome goggles that lets her see Memoria tattoos. I love how Madoka's and Mugi's tattoos are in super-fanservice regions of their bodies, incidentally. She also knows who Lan actually is, and she already knows Madoka's name and a fair amount about her. It's not clear how she got to Earth right now but she didn't appear to have come with Lan's group, however she was able to get inside the floating base so whoever she really is, she knows what she's doing. She is able to get close to Madoka right away, thus activating Lan's Yuri Jealousy Mode.

The second story, which I will call the "real" story since it is not connected to the three pilots at the moment, concerns What Is Actually Going On. It's getting increasingly obvious that things are absolutely not as they appear. The arrival of Kiss, who apparently attacked and crippled the ship that Kirius, Array, and Izo arrived on, signals the beginning of the Real Story. Meanwhile Madoka's Pantsu-Off cousin and her hapless student are busy explaining stuff about where the mechas were found and I'm sure this will be relevant later.

The city of Kamogawa was involved in the planning of this project and helped with the funding. Now, I'm willing to bet they were aware of what happened to Shirakawa when that town was involuntarily used as the basis for the fictional Himanizawa in Higurashi. I'm under the impression that otaku tourism is like the worst kind of tourism ever, but Kamogawa really wants those otaku tourist yens. So here we are, I guess. It's apparently a beach resort city, and I don't know that otakus like the sun to begin with, but I wish them luck with their endeavor. Gotta get DAT YENS.
Didn't the same happen to the town of Hanasaku Iroha?
Suite Precure 48 (end):

A generically-satisfying conclusion, but I can't complain. It's hard to say anything about Suite without comparing it to Heartcatch because Heartcatch was my introduction to the franchise and I absolutely adored it in every way. Suite was a weaker show and especially had a weaker endgame, but it was still a pleasant watch and served as my weekly dose of optimism, rainbows, and ass-kicking. Some random thoughts (criticisms, I guess) about Suite:

- Cure Beat and Cure Muse were sadly mishandled. Siren's internal conflict over whether she had the right to be a Cure after spreading so much misery was short-lived, and she was virtually nonexistent outside of the fight of the week, never developing any personality traits or hobbies outside of the usual music and singing. She was much more interesting as a villain. Ako was introduced too late to have much characterization at all, and while she had personality in spades the show was only ever able to devote a couple of episodes to her because they waited until around episode 35 for the reveal.

- Negatones were less interesting monsters of the week than Desertrians. Part of the appeal of Heartcatch was that it dealt with anger, sadness, misunderstanding, and other afflictions of the heart in a fairly serious way. Most of the characters of the week whose Heart Flowers wilted were experiencing very relatable problems and the Cures had to actually resolve those problems to some extent in order to defeat a Desertrian. Negatone was never anything more than musical note + random object = herp derp monster, and the Cures pretty much just had to kick the shit out of them.

- The villains gave up on the "divide Hibiki and Kanade by exploiting their differences" plot halfway through the show. I liked the premise of two girls who didn't get along with each other having to cooperate as Precure in order to survive and it seemed to work from week to week, but it eventually fizzled out and the villains just resorted to powering up in an attempt to defeat the Cures through brute force. I would have liked to have seen Hibiki and Kanade divided on increasingly fundamental differences in their values and be forced to resolve them as the show went on, but that's obviously too much to ask for an all-ages series.

- It was cool when I found out that Hummy was voiced by Tsukino Usagi's seiyuu. It freaked me out when I heard Usagi use a cat voice in an episode of the first season of Sailor Moon and it was like hearing Hummy 20 years before Suite.

- Hibiki and Kanade's Precure forms have the best design of any Precure series, and Let's Play! Precure Modulation is the best transformation theme in anything EVER.

Well, where one Precure series ends, another springs up to replace it so we begin anew with Smile Precure next week. As I'm probably the only member of PrecureGAF, I promise not to junk the thread up with weekly impressions, hah.
As a fan of Heartcatch who bailed out on Smile I am glad to hear that my fears were not unfounded.

Persona 4: The Animation episode 16

So who is the blue haired ramen chick who keeps showing up every episode? Some new character for the Vita version, perhaps? Feels so pointless any time she's on screen.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 01

This opening sequence feels like SHAFT, but I'm trying to figure out why. Would "starkly shaded CGI structures in wide shots" cover it, you think?

Kyubey's mouth doesn't move when it talks. That's just creepy.

Oof, and there's that Meguca. It's standard to draw objects and characters in less detail when the camera's pulled out a ways...but this show's idea of "pulled out a ways" is a bit too close, I think.

Homura's intense.

Sayaka's funny, I like her.

...did the characters drop acid without me noticing? Did I?

That's quite a barrage.

Pretty cute overall, but kinda fucked up in places, too.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 02

Any wish, really? Just have one of you wish for a vast fortune, split it, then have the other wish for all the Witches to vanish forever. (If you have to kill a Witch first then it's a bit trickier...but still only two battles to be set for life.)

Madoka's mom is kind of awesome.

Uh, Mami, are you sure bringing a pair of powerless civilians to watch you fight deadly monsters is such a good idea?

Madoka's school is pretty swanky.

Sayaka's so proactive; why couldn't she be the main character?

German text! I wish I had studied it more. Apparently it's from Faust.

The fight was pretty cool, if a bit hard to follow at times.

I love how she still isn't wearing any pants in that scene.

Yes, Aika will be in P4G. Nobody knows if Mari will show up in the anime nor what role she plays, so for her, who knows?

~boring declaration of your boredom~ Boring Space Not-Pirates 4:

I'm not sure if I'm being trolled or not yet if Marika tries to make running a wide-range scan look like the most exciting thing which has ever happened in space travel. I guess they are going with the same use of scanning that occurs in submarine warfare in this show. When on a submarine, you can listen all you want and nobody will pay any attention to you. But if you use an acoustic wave to lock another submarine's exact position exactly ("ping") then what you are doing is determining a firing solution. Therefore, if you ping another sub, you are declaring your intent to engage in hostilities, in other words you're going to torpedo the motherfucker until his wreck lies on the bottom of the ocean. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the context of space but whatever.

This show has an amazing and utterly perfect soundtrack which is completely out of place from the boring events going on. And yes, I do like the OP and ED, I guess watching and playing THE IDOLM@STER has trained me to enjoy idol singing. I'm sure this rigorous training will come in useful in the future.

If there isn't a really huge awesome space battle next episode where the Odette II fires it's bodacious beam weapons and blows holes in another ship and people are ejected into space and flash-freeze and explode messily, I'm probably going to drop this show. Marika is cute and all but this is inarguably the most boring thing I've ever seen which is supposed to be about space pirates. I mean, how can you make bodacious space piracy THIS FUCKING GODDAMNED BORING?

I for some reason keep feeling that she would be some replacement social link that would otherwise be too boring to show. Originally, I thought she would be hermit's replacement but that was a dud once episode 13 came out.

I think she might be Empress replacement though watch them prove me wrong when Margaret suddenly decides to befriend Yu after collecting all the other social links or something.

Though I guess she might just be used to promote P4 Golden.

First Kiss is the best of them by a mile. I would agree with your rankings outside of that one, but First Kiss is just on a different level in my opinion.

I like the epic ballad-type awesomeness of I Say Yes, but the more playful and sweet nature of First Kiss appeals to me too. Really I think the first 2 OPs are close in terms of quality with the I Say Yes only getting the nod narrowly over First Kiss.

More like, when you send a ping you are making noise. Passively listening does not involve making noise that can be heard by others.

I assumed that
she's meant to be a red herring for people who haven't played the game already. She's got a fairly cold demeanor, shows up everywhere, is privy to all of their conversations at the restaurant, etc.
