What this season is bad?
uh, it's Cwarrior, so I guess not enough shonen action crap for him.

But I think the first half of this year is pretty awesome.

It's just that I don't find any of the shows this season worth the time investment(not good enough to spend 23mins a week keeping up), he could spending his time watching older stuff that’s really great.

I do find it amusing how anti mainstream shounen gaf is and how some gaffers like to paint me as someone who only likes shounen.

Truth is I just have no interest in shows who’s main selling point is cute girls, what I look for in a show is an interesting/unique premise, imaginative locations/worlds, like able characters and a great soundtrack is always nice(it just so happens a lot of shounens possess all theses).

Things I don’t like in my anime are angst, whiny, preachy protags, boring high school life ,heavy fanservices, pedo crap, incest, shaft, mecha, stock animation spamming and harem.

I would gladly take any recommendations on shows that contain what I like and none of the stuff I dislike.

You're next step to become a full fledged member is to make a music video listing your top 5 anime series (random j-pop anime theme song as background music is highly recommended), then share it in this thread/facebook/blog/livejournal/etc.

And reply to everyone that post a comment on your video.

As support we will give you lots of thumbs up regardless of quality.

I know you’re joking but I accept anyway. No idea when I’ll do it but trust me Anime-GAF, you’ll know.

Tatami Galaxy 06

I really enjoyed this episode. Particularly, I loved the way the climax played out. The way the show demonstrated the protagonist's internal conflict over what to do was both unique and insightful. I like the ways I'm learning more about the characters in each episode.

The whole argument with Johnny, along with the parts of his brain in the crisis room trying to come up with a plan of action, was really masterfully done. It gave that scene a kind of frantic momentum that fit the protagonist's feelings without turning the actual events taking place into some sort of exaggerated cartoon. And it was a great illustration of the sort of intellectual paralysis that's been causing him so many problems to this point. I find it oddly relatable.

I have a lot of intellectual respect for the structure of the series so far, but I'm enjoying the show the most when it flexes its creativity the way it did this time around.

Over half-way done!

:doushio our lasers wont penetrate their shields!

I find ":doushio" incredibly :cajun, even though there's no practical application for it anywhere.

Char isn't pleased.

Poor Char. She deserves better than this!

That certainly didn't stop you from liking Planetes, yet I assume you hold that against Evangelion. Well, there's the mecha aspect too.

Penguindrum selling enOugh to keep Ikuhara on life support?

Does he need it to? Given that he's spent the vast majority of the years since Utena swimming a lot and being fabulous (and writing a couple of unsuccessful manga - yes I do indeed own both volumes of The World of S&M) I had rather assumed he doesn't need the money too much. According to Wiki Ikuhara was a producer on Utena so I would assume that he receives an income stream from absolutely anything to do with it - maybe it's not a lot of money but it can't be completely insubstantial. Maybe he'll never direct again - but I feel lucky to have had both Utena and Penguindrum from him (suck it firehawk and darkside :p) at any rate.

Daily Lives of High School Boys 4

"Who are those guys?" Saw it coming a mile away, but still fantastic.

Sketch-based shows are so much better when the skits in one episode are focused around a single theme, as this episode easily proves. So many good moments, especially
Yoshitake calling in the vice president to scare the crap out of Ikushima
. But unlike the rest of you, I feel the post-credits skit was pretty weak.

Also, on an amusing note, this is the second time in a few seasons that Akira Ishida has addressed another character as "Ringo-chan".

MF, publisher, sold the rights of the foreign edition without consulting the author. The author complained and started "looking for a better publisher". MF finds out about his intentions, gets mad. Deadline for the new novel is missed multiple times. Author makes tweets about hating his life and then deletes them, rumours about cancellation surface. And now it is 100% confirmed that the release of the new novel has been cancelled and that the already released IS novels won't get restocked ever.

Alleged insider info:

Damn, that's far more interesting then any part of the show!

Not sure if figure talk can go in here (they're based off of anime characters so I guess so), but I got two new nendos through the post today. So cute. ^^

Are they really that far behind in the One Piece releases, thats like the episode 248 or so (all the stuff in that set looks nice).

Zwei Wings songes were nice and surprised Another song actually had buyers. Now if the ending can come out.

Bleach 358

Wow, this episode got really intense in the last half. The way things just fell apart round Ichigo felt genuine.

Everything has been way more intense animated than in the manga, and that Number One mix, lovely beat.

Episode 1 was amazing due to this scene - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzr0a0sKn6Q it blew me away when I first watched it back in 2004, I was like "this is the real shit"
A few action scenes in episode one have some very cool camera work, like POV (first person) action shots which you rarely see in anime, for obvious reasons. Episode 20, Pierrot le Fou, has some similarity creative and expensive action sequences.
Much like that fight, and this one later on in the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQvAHEloOpY (Which happens to be my favorite anime fight scene ever) The use of first person really adds to, and in the second clip almost makes, the scene itself, imo. It's a shame you see it used so rarely, and with such tact at that.
Lol, honestly, I didn't even notice this post before making my own. We're clearly on the same wavelength.
But the original macross is way better than plus.
It's longer, but I'm hard-pressed to call it better.

There is a general figurine thread, but I don't see a problem with posting them in here since it is anime related. Also HNNNNNG.

Char isn't pleased.

Zing failed.

Even more HNNNG approaching. Prepare yourself.
I am on episode 46 now.

And yet you'll still be tuning in next week. For academic purposes, I'm sure!
I might actually check the responses in here first before I watch the next episode. At the moment it feels like there's only a 15% chance that it will be as good as episode three. They really just seem to be cranking it out, which is very disappointing considering how much I enjoyed the first season.
so what you're really saying is Perfect Blue > Paprika > Inception
Well obviously.

This isn't enough for me, I WANT MORE!

Oh my god :(

:)

I feel like I've adapted the IGN/Game informer scale of 7-10 without realizing it. Even Yami got a 6, it's only stuff like Soul Link and Tekken where I felt like giving low scores.

More information regarding IS' cancellation:

Source said:
-Izuru Yumizuru's contract with MF is already over.
-No chance for new books. Existing books will not be reprinted.
-He went to the Kadokawa group (Dengeki included) but they had heard bad stories from his editors and weren't interested.
-After that he came back to MF but the guys on top didn't want him back.
-I don't know what happened with Kodansha, Shueisha and the Shogakukan group.
-At this rate the OVA will be the last we ever see of IS.
-And going by his personality and how he just never learns from his mistakes, it will be the last we see of Yumizuru.

[Moribito 18]

I was planning to do a proper full-length review of every episode with some pictures as well. Of course that was way back around episode five so I've completely failed at that. I'll have to get back to it sometimes when I have lots of free time (e.g. never).

Rather than just harping on the great visual direction, which this series has in spades, I thought I'd highlight something a bit more firehawk12 - the actual writing if the show. Kenji Kamiyama, the overall director, also has writing credits on every single episode. I don't think I've seen this anywhere else, in fact it's quite often that the director isn't really involved with the writing at all. Yet to see him supervising the script of every single episode is very impressive, and it certainly shows in the finished product as the writing has the kind of consistency which you don't often find in a TV series.

Gokujo 01:

The characters screamed every line. My ears hurt by the end of the episode, and the ecchi was shit.

Ano Natsu 04:

Ugh, they continued
last week's plotline
this week? It wasn't interesting or humorous then, and even less so now. At this point I'm only watching for Remon, and it looks like she's going to fall further into the background since the
teenage melodrama
appears to begin in earnest next week.

The journey to HNNNG paradise continues.

CCS 46

Sakura has to fight
Yue
.
Initially, she casts
Woody
and
gets it reflected back on her, which would cause her to lose memories of the one dearest to her.
Naturally, this shit cannot stand.
Ms Mizuki clangs those bell things and Sakura gains an extra chance.
Sakura goes God-Mode, traps Yue with Windy and her magical staff transforms.
Yue grants her power over the Clow Cardos.
Everybody wins.
