The end to this was weird. The whole explanation of things was somewhat weird, although more on the complicated side of weird.
The art was great, the story interesting (I love the supernatural stuff, and this had also some religious stuff) but I think I'd need to re-read it a couple of times to get it completely.
Anyways, I'm now a fan of Daisuke Igarashi's art.

I agree and suspected this too(that the sage was an Uzumaki). There have been plenty of hints that Naruto is a more direct descendant of the Sage.
The latest chapter connects him even more to the Sage.
People have to remember that the sons of the sage are feat-less, and Naruto is destined to overshadow the pathetic dispute of senju vs uchiha. It was Madara himself that assigned Naruto that role while he himself has long since passed that point. I guess i can't blame him for trying to stop Naruto at all cost since with time it becomes more and more clear that Naruto will be the true reincarnation of the Sage.

I dont believe final arc...Why is both Isshin past, Urahara/Aizen, and 0 and Spirit king all in it? Unless this will be some huge five+ year storyline that seems to much to be in it any otherway.

Anyway the best news revealed, cant wait to see one of my favorite bankai, perfected.

Damn I'm already loving this arc, every single island in the New World seems completely and utterly effed up in the most insane ways imaginable.

A few things I liked/made me curious about this chapter:


1. Smoker's huge scar is pretty intense, I really wonder if anyone of interest inflicted that on him. Something makes me feel like he learnt the difference in power NW pirates have the hard way.

2. Glad to see Robin's on the primary exploration crew for this arc, eventhough it's hard to say anything this early I really really hope Robin will get a proper quality 1 on 1 fight this arc. She's virtually the only straw hat to never have a good 1 on 1 with a high level foe.

3. I love how Usopp is completely back to his old self now that they're facing the intensity of the New World.

I'll be honest in saying I love how well Oda managed to capture the difference between the three oceans.

East Blue's islands were extremely normal, barely leaving anything memorable aside from architecture and characters.

The Grand Line had a lot of "themed" islands that had 1 or 2 remarkable things such as dinosaurs, them being winter or desert islands and some cool/absurd man-made structures. But in most cases the most absurd stuff was more "amazing" than completely and utterly insane in how deadly and counter intuitive it was.

But the New World's islands we've seen so far are almost deceptive in how insane they are.

When you see the island they're on now, "Punk Hazard" the first thing that stands out is the heat and flaming ocean filled with burnt skeletons, but man, the vague messages of the cold being the real killer, the contradictory weather climates.. it makes me feel like there's no clever way to prepare for these islands.

The real danger seems like a combination of 90% of the things around you being clearly dangerous and the remaining 10% possibly being even more dangerous than the apparent insanity around you.

If this feeling stays strong through the arc I might enjoy it a lot.

4. I think it's really cool that it seems like Smoker will be a big part of this arc as well, that sort of stuff makes any arc seem like more than just a "random danger island". Looking foreward to what his role will be.

There are way too many new folks this arc lol. I can barely keep up with all the new folks from other villages T_T.

Man, that chapter was CLUTTERED. Even more than usual.

The chapter was fun and is a good start for the New World. Seas of fire already put it a step above the dangers in Grand Line waters. Punk Hazard marks the second reference to Oda's samurai one-shot, so I guess this confirms the share the same world. Also Dragons.

I'm indifferent on Smoker's new design, but I hope this "everyone has scars now!" trend ends soon.
