I wonder when games will start showing up in stores. Despite being crazy enough to import one, I can't justify dropping $70+ on more games this close to launch, and replaying the Power Smash demo over and over is starting to get old.

The only four games getting early release in Canuckistan so far are the big four from Sony.

Maybe a stupid question, does this thing support any smartphone apps? Also how's the web browser (which I assume it has)?
The current apps that are planned for it are Twitter, Facebook, FourSquare, Skype and NetFlix.

I'm trying to decide the best route, do I want to get a big memory card and then go all digital for my games or go physical media-
What is everyone else thinking? Physical, digital, or mix?
I'd recommend you go mixed. You never know when you might find that good retail deal. Personally I'm getting the 32GB card so that I can add all my PSP games and get some Vita games that I'd want at my finger tips.
Do trophies still have to sync like the PS3? Or is it instantly synced as soon as you get it like the 360? I figured that trophies on the PS3 did that since trophy support was added after the PS3 was released and 360 had achievements from the start.
You still have to sync your trophies but it's a lot faster now.

I had no idea release day shipping was .99 on Amazon! I just got HSG with the cheaper price. I still don't get why it's 40 at Gamestop.

I tried so hard not to rationalize the FEB but playing the demo station sealed the deal. They better give at least $15 for little deviants.

Is not waiting a week worth that much to be burning cash? If you've got cash to burn you can send some my way so I can help you burn it.

I tried so hard to justify my FEB but after sitting down with Little Deviants today, I think that pretty much sealed that I'm waiting until the 22nd. I really tried to find every excuse and reason to do it but I just can't anymore. Getting ripped off from the 8 GB card, paying full price for a game I don't want, and getting ripped off by over paying on the case that comes with it just doesn't seem worth while to get it a week earlier now.

Have all of you guys played the full retail Little Deviants? The other games on it bad too? I've only seen the rear touch, ball rolling game.

edit: I mean, at the BB, Gamestop demo Vita units. Do they let you play the full version of Little Deviants, or just the demo?

Agreed, but, I'd like to think those that are interested in the Vita have been following it well enough to know that you just plain NEED a memory card.

You love to think that. But you only have to read a few of the questions in this thread and the other to realise that not everyone has been following it as closely as some of the people on here. That Sony hasn't even really told the masses about the device yet means that when they do there are going to be a whole load of people that don't know about memory cards, account switching, region free, etc etc. If there are people on GAF that don't know some of these things then the amount of norms that don't know is going to be even higher.

Not directly. PS Suite is Sonys vita/smartphone/tablet app store which I think goes live in a few months. Developers will be able to submit games and apps to that store which if approved will be available on those devices. Because its Sony controlled you are not going to see emulators and things like that, but other apps and browsers and stuff are a distinct possibility.

And at the moment the browser is... poor. You can view sites but it doesn't support HTML 5 particularly well so you can't even view youtube on it. I fully expect that to get patched as time moves on though.

I don't even live in America and I can highlight the key word in your own sentence which will tell you WHY its $40. They think people will pay it and they will.

Is there going to be demos on day 1 for this?

I know that Motorstrom will have a day 1 demo and I'm sure others will too. No idea which yet though.

Yes. There will be some free things on day 1.

I'm going to be downloading up a storm. Still debating whether to get the FEB or wait until launch day and get the 3g $299 bundle. I know I wouldn't be getting a good deal with the FEB, but DARN I am impatient!

Sony raised the MSRP for Wipeout and HSG back up to 40 after cutting it to 30 a few weeks before. Amazon might raise it again eventually, or lose a few bucks on these two games to get more Vita hardware sales.

I'm not really interested in any of the release day games, but I am interested in buying psp games for it. I've missed so many psp games the last two or so years. My tax return should be in my bank account by the 14th. This will be the first time I have bought a system on release day since the Sega Saturn. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing!

Same here.
Looking forward to Rayman and Sound Shapes, but I'm more eager to go into PSP's catalog (never owned one)

Do we know what services will be available on the PSN at launch? Downloadable PsOne, PSP and Vita games? Sorry if it's been asked before.

PSOne games will not be available. PSP and Vita should be.

Are PSOne games the same as the PS3/PSP or are they a separate entity like the Android versions? Seems strange to not have them on launch if they are the PS3/PSP versions, if PSP can emulate a PSX then i'm sure Vita can (or was PSP's emulation aided by hardware?). Sony you sneaky devils, what's your game?

I imagine it may have just been a case where the emulator team is swamped going through 1000+ PSP games on EU/NA/JP PSN stores, and the ever increasing PS2 Classics line.

They probably also want to create a specific Vita-optimized emulator rather than just use the PSP one through the PSP emulator (probably also just a bad idea in general to run an emulator in an emulator). There's benefits the PSVita has the PSP didn't, like the second analog stick, alternatives for shoulder/stick buttons through touch screens, and the fact not all PSP games were 240p. So long as it'll actually switch to 480i mode, whether it deinterlaces or not, would be really nice for games like Chrono Cross or (should SE stop sucking) Tobal.

Wait there is a $299 3g bundle? Where and since when?
Everywhere and since a few days ago. It's the 3G version upgraded for if you get it at launch with a free 8 GB card, a month of free 250 MB 3G, and a $10 download game. Last two require buying a month of 3G I believe though.

I was going to go for a Wifi, 8GB and Uncharted, so it might be worthwhile to just go for that 3G bundle I think. Didn't realize that bundle was everywhere now.

Edit: Yeah I think I may switch over to that. Just in case I change my mind on using 3G in the future I will have the option.

Can someone with a PS Vita talk with their buddy who is on PS3 via PSN Voice chat?

My Playstation Portable MLB The Show Machine will be awesome! Seriously the only reason I want it so bad.

I literally get addicted to the sports games on PSP. The first NBA with Ray Allen on the cover I must have put over 500+ hours into the season mode.

it's only for first batch of Vita's though. It's not ongoing.

I'm pretty sure you can, since it's still using PSN which is on both systems.

Hope so. I'm not knowledgeable on the unit, and have really only heard of PS Vita in use with the PS3 with some Konami transfer thing I don't quite understand.

Only thing though, the PS3 person would be stuck in the block as I call it.

I agree. It's a tech demo and a cool gf/kids game. Definitely not for me though. I'm literally opening the first edition box inside of gamestop and trading it for credit.

Until you read on the back and it says "Not for Retail Sale". Just hope and pray it doesn't I guess?

Would gamestop honestly have an issue with that?

GAME, Gamestation, HMV and Blockbuster in the UK honestly don't give a shit about bundle items being traded in. Is the policy different in the USA?

It depends on the kid behind the counter. I've had a mixed bag with it depending on staff.

Maybe its too soon - but we should have a Vita Wallpaper Thread.

Gamestop doesn't care at all. Their used game shelves are full of Guitar Hero and Rock Band games that came from hardware bundles. Amazon, on the other hand, won't touch anything that says not for retail.

You can sell it as Amazon third party. I have sold a few bundled Halo Reach download codes.
