You don't have to buy Vita games off of PSN if you don't want to. You can buy them retail, well except for the PSN exclusives.

As for your question launch Vita game cards are 2-4GB in size.

My plan now is to buy the game cards for most retail games. I'm getting a 32GB card for PSN only content and PSP games. I'd buy the biggest card you can afford, because when thinking over the span of 4 to 5 years that space will be used up.

It could also be that lately, Amazon.com release dates have been all over the place in regards to the Vita. Look at the release date for MLB 12: The Show (March 27???), not likely. What about Virtua Tennis (they just listed the game, with no date??). I think they have not a clue about some of these titles. That, or thier buyer couldn't get their hands on whatever it is on time.

That was me and you really should when have some free time the kiosk here at Gamestop in Miami had: escape plan,wipeout, uncharted, gravity rush,Little deviants, power smash(virtua tennis?), and some other I think but I didn't care for them.

Edit: also that day saw some kid from high school preordering his and he loved wipeout

I would easily pay a $10 premium for a bonus digital copy
 
So besides finding out The Show will be out March 6th they also said you'll be able to use tue back panel for fielding. The game looks fantastic and hope we see all the other sports titles getting this much attention on the Vita in 2012.

I plan on filling up my 32GB card on Day 1. :(
But then, I have a ton of PSP content to port over from my PSP Go.
 
Sony needs to get on the ball and have those PS1 titles compatible, it would be the difference of me getting it at launch or waiting for a price drop
 
I'm unsure if this has been brought up, but have any of you seen special offers at the Vita Hill Social Clubs (the touring promotion "parties" for the Vita running right now) where you get a $10 PSN card for pre-ordering the Vita?

Basically, if you pre-order the Vita right then and there on their laptops (at BestBuy.com, I think), the Vita people give you a $10 PSN card on the spot. At least they're doing that in Boston, anyway.

Combine that with the free PSN game, free month of 3G, 8 gig card... that's a lot of bang for your buck. I'm still wondering about just getting a 16 gig with a wifi model though- but it'll be $10 more expensive.
 
Oh, I didn't know that you have to pay for a month of data before you can receive the free game. I thought it was in addition to the free 250MB.

Guess I'm back to the WiFi unit. Damn.

Actually, I've been wondering if AT&T is a hassle to cancel with or not; can I do it on the site, or do I have to call and hope for the best? If it's the latter I'd be WAY more inclined to go with Wi-Fi in the end, it'd pretty much be $20/$50 just for a GPS chip.
 
The PS3 also has more raw power than the Vita, and even that's case by case rather than them just throwing an all purpose emulator on like they did with the PS1. Still, the Vita DOES have significant power over the PS2 (quad core CPU with 1 GHz each versus a nearly 300 MHz CPU) and I do wonder if some of that work on PS3 can transfer over to Vita too.

I think you can do it on the Vita AT&T app.

Is it not the memory that the PS3 struggles with in terms of emulating the PS2?

Maybe the Vita could possibly do it? I have no clue on the tech side though.

Well, the Vita has a bit more RAM and it's unified IIRC, so that'd probably help a lot too.

Not all games are releasing on Feb 22nd for the First Edition bunde.
 
Went to my Gamestop, put down the remainder of my Vita pre-order ($40). And I got to actually play it. Wow this thing impressed me right away. I can't wait for Feb 22nd. The Gamestop employee said that they have over 20 pre-orders, and this is a small store. There are two much larger Gamestops within a mile radius of this one (yup.. they're everywhere). I hope this thing sells well in the US.

Don't early file people usually get it in arpil/may? I forget how that works. They have some sort of system based on something besides when you file.

Even putting aside marketing, they really may still be setting up the online infrastructure, or printing some games still (note how some are out the 15th, others the 22nd).

To my recollection, the PS2 code read somewhat like english in parts. I think the Vita runs Android.. so, parhaps having to recode everything between the OS languages ,and the chipset architecture being entirely different might play a role in some issues. Instruction maps for control, physics, and graphics being written for entirely different chipsets might cause emulation to require much more than say.. having a ps2 chipset on board like the PS3 fat did.
 
I want to get this but 250 is rough right now. It was an awesome price when announced and it's still great for what the product is but the fact that you have to get a memory card + a game that's 40-50 bucks kills the momentum. I don't care about 3G so I won't get those bundles either.

I wish it had instant remote play support with PS3 games and I'd get it but apparently that only works with a hacked/CFW PS3 which I don't have. I want to wait and see what happens but at the same time Sony has made a great tech beast device and it would be a shame if it failed because people like me didn't support it.

Does anyone else think that Sony missed a huge opportunity by not encoding the Jak and Daxter collection for the Vita? It comes out on Tuesday, couldn't they have ported to the Vita and released on the 21st? I know I would have bought the collection day 1 for Vita, now I might get it on Black Friday if there is a great deal on it.

I don't think Sony necessarily want the Vita to be seen as a port handheld like the PSP was for the first few years of its life. They'll encourage cross platform features with PS3 games but in terms of just getting ports of PS3 games, I think they'd rather have exclusive games.

Yeah, exclusive games (and keeping them there) is the key to make this actually look like a must have for games rather than a fun extra for people who want those games on the go. Probably part of why they threw in the touch screen/pad in, you CAN'T as easily replicate that on consoles.

I guess I can understand that reasoning. Plus the launch is already packed with a buttload of games, I'm sure it is tricky to balance a lot of software for a launch. You want enough to appeal to a wide variety of tastes but you don't want to cannibalize your own sales. I was thinking it was an "all of the above" approach.

Edit: I guess my point is that the ability to have a game on your PS3, save to the cloud, and pick up right where you left off was one of the Vita's more intriguing bullet points. It seems to me that PS2 collections would be a great opportunity to test the waters for this type of cross connection (transfarring). Plus I would think it could be done with minimal investment by Sony. Seems like a win/win to me but maybe I am in the "niche" crowd.
 
Having instant access to games on PSN anytime you want is both great because you can get what you want without having to wait for a store to open, and horrible on your wallet for that same convenience. I think I will have a love/hate relationship with PSN from now on.
 
I already preordered from BestBuy in January for the 3G/Wifi version. Anyone knows if this will upgrade to the bundle with 8gig card and AT&T pass?
