I don't understand why....like does Microsoft have some type of voodoo magic where I can play their games right away after they d/l. Very annoying.
Maybe they just add the stealth installation to the download process or something.

Yes, everything can use it.
And no, no patch is necessary, since it's the PSP emulator's feature.

Wow, that is awesome. I think I'm gonna pick few more PSP games from PSN now, It would be even more awesome if Sony let PSP games go on sale from time to time
or ever!

See, I would tend to agree with you there. That's the logical next step....

BUT, their downloads are most of the time faster too. So if it downloads and installs at the same time, you would think it would download slower. But it actually downloads faster.

....Wizards.

The demo was at the kiosk at my Gamestop. It ran great and I can't remember any slow downs at all. That video is pretty crazy, I'm definitely hesitant now and will be waiting for some reviews and general thoughts before I buy it.

By "pretty crazy" you mean you noticed the slowdowns too?
I'm happy you had not this problem at Gamestop but considering what i'm seeing now in that video, I consider the slowdown stuff like a big problem in a Fifa game. So I want to be sure something happened in that video.

Ah, consider that as you can see in other videos of the same guy, he has a retail copy of the game. :/

This is by no means a stealth troll and not trying to take it off topic too much.

Gold members probably help pay for the servers/download speeds, a few million Gold subscribers multiplied by a years membership is a massive amount of regular income. Also they have some magical patching system too where patches are like 4mb. Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find a larger update file. It caches them somehow but they definitely aren't stored on the HDD permanently like the PS3 does. Obviously to cater for Arcade owners but still.

Can I haz access to super secret servers/download speeds

or the structure it downloads. sony they have to extract the package that's why you need probably double the space for the download and installation. microsoft probably have a file structure to be able to download without extracting. they probably got that patented too lol.

You guys, have you had the opportunity to try Fifa 12 in any store?
I'm asking this because this is my most wanted title but I've just figured out that the game has some major slowdowns (frame rate drops).

Look at this video at minute 2:00 (and after).
http://youtu.be/HIPkiLDQrpI

Tell me there is an explanation :(
It does look bad indeed. And those drops can make the game unplayable. :\
I hope it's only occasional.

Your making that much out of a split second stutter? I wouldn't even say that's the game as much as the video. But even that wouldn't bother me and I game on a high end PC.

Ok I seen the other part. My video crashed before that. It's slowdown but it seems to come and go fast.

Imagine a folder on your PC. Name the folder 'Awesome Game#1' and inside is the .exe and files needed to play. You can transfer that folder to another PC in your house on the same network and it will play (same hardware obviously) as soon as it's transferred. So for all we know XBL is just transferring the file unzipped. Think about it, most demos and shit are larger than their PS3 counterparts, configs and directories are all the same.

Sure, probably way off the mark or could be close to what they do.

What's the recommended memory card size? I have some PSP games I'll want to download, and want enough space to get escape plan and some other stuff. Is 4GB enough? Also why is Uncharted $50 and the other launch titles $30?

Good ol' EB.

When I pre-ordered and he was asking if there were any titles I was interested in, I asked if Rayman Origins was a launch title and he said - No, Rayman isn't coming to the Vita, it's coming to the PSP. Perhaps they'll port it later?

Knowledgeable as always.

4GB might be enough depending on the PSP games but 8GB would probably be safer

How many is "some" PSP games.

I'd say 16gb is what I'd personally recommend

Blarg, I was hoping 4GB would be enough. I have Motorstorm Arctic edge, LBP, Patapon, Killzone, pursuit force, some Ps1 classics, and probably a few others. I was the 16GB was 39.99....damn you sony!

Are there any 3rd pary memory cards that work with the vita?

At the current size of game saves you would be able to have a lot of games progress files stored (Uncharted is 64mb, Wipeout is 8mb, I think another game was around 100mb).

Question is, are you one of these people that deletes saves when you've finished the game or keep them just incase? Also, plan in advance if you're going to get PSN only games like Stardust Delta. 4gb might be alright for the forseeable future, 8gb will give you a bit more leeway towards storing demos, DD games etc but I would definitely plan on getting a 16gb or 32gb in the future.

Ya I'd say if your intending to be reasonably serious about DD then 16 is probably the safest bet. Most PSP games range from 500MB-1.5GB, but if you ever intend to start downloading Vita games then you're going to start eating through that space pretty quickly.

16GB might not even be enough to fit all those on there plus some Vita stuff at 16GB.

at 8GB you could probably fit all those on there but wouldn't have much, if any, room for Vita stuff (demos, games, etc.)

4GB would be used by MotorStorm and LBP alone, lol.

As for your second question, no third party Memory Cards.

Changed my 16GB memory card order to Amazon. Also changed Starter Kit preorder to a VIP case preorder on Amazon.

Was worried having my orders split up between THREE different retailers would increase the chances of something not turning up on release. I also started a free trial of Prime to get free release date delivery, so saved a few quid there.

Now i just need Tesco to deliver the console on release day

I'm getting at least 260 dollars from Amazon for trading in text books and some other stuff and I am seriously contemplating pre-ordering a vita from them. I am getting the feeling that Sony might pull a Nintendo and drop the price in a few months. The price of the memory cards also scares me. Can anyone sooth my fears? Also when is Persona 4 coming out for the Vita?

Persona is out in April IIRC. (EDIT: Ignore me, i'm getting confused between Disgaea and Persona)

As for the price, i very much doubt it will drop any time soon. Really no evidence to back that statement up though :P

Persona 4: The Golden just has a generic "Spring" release date for Japan.

I highly doubt Sony will pull a Nintendo, the 3DS didn't really have any games (besides the OoT port/remake) before the price drop

the Vita has more good games at launch than the 3DS has had in a year (not saying the Vita has better games just more good ones)

I see what you're saying --- no games led to poor sales. But I'd say the initial reception of the vita, compared to Sonys expectations will determine the speed of a price drop. That's what led to the 3ds price drop IMO

Damn, I guess I'll get the 8GB one for now, I can't justify spending the $60 on a 16GB, that's a little too steep for me.

I did a round up of the file sizes of the games you want:

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge - 524MB
LittleBigPlanet - 1.37GB
Pursuit Force - 667MB
Killzone: Liberation - 510MB
Patapon - 184MB

8GB should be good.

Ok cool thx everyone as long as I get the money from Amazon I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Even if there are not a ton of launch titles I want the amount of psp games I need to catch up on is insane.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about the opportunity to utilize a second analog stick on some Of the PSP games already released.

I just sent off some games to trade in with Amazon this morning. It should net me about $78, which I'll use to buy Uncharted and Rayman (got my Uncharted preorder locked at $39). Sony including an 8gig card with 3G/WiFi units also saved me some cash, since I was going to buy a 16gig card, but cancelled it, since, for the time being 8gigs is going to be enough for me.

That'll actually save me quite a bit of my own cash, since I'll only have to pay for my 3G/WiFi Vita, and the carrying case.

I had initially budgeted $500 for my Vita, but I probably won't reach that, unless I guy a bunch of extra games at launch, which I don't plan on doing outside of some PSP titles I've had my eye on for a while.

I went from nearly spending $506 for my entire day one package, to spending, out of pocket, $366 thanks to my Amazon trade in, and no longer having to pay $60 on a 16gig memory card. I'm very pleased with this result, and I'll be able to buy Gravity Rush and Unit 13 when they release in March or so.

I'm really looking forward to the Vita launch, now that it's only 2.5 weeks away for me, I've entered this sort of Zen state, where the wait doesn't seem horribly agonizing to me anymore. lol. January was the hardest month for me. It seemed to stretch on forever!

What I'm looking at day one:

Playstation Vita - WiFi
32GB Memory Card
Wipeout 2048
Rayman Origins

I will not be buying any boxed games. Let the download revolution begin. Will my already downloaded PSN PixelJunk games work? I'm not 100% clear on what's portable to Vita from PSN.

Funny thing is, when you download a game on a Windows Phone 7, you have to finish the download and then it installs it automatically. The first 50% of the progress are saved for the download, the rest is install.

Stopped by GameStop to try the demos and they were selling the accessories already as others mentioned.
Went ahead and bought the cradle. :)

Question: If I buy a 3G Vita, but don't sign up for a plan, do it still use the GPS for things like Near or does that require a service plan?

I keep telling myself to wait, but 9/10 times I get caught up in the launch hype and just say fuck it and buy the systems anyways.

Near works with GPS as well as wifi. If you get the wifi only model then it will only use Near when you're connected to WiFi. The 3G model will only use near via 3G if you have a data plan through AT&T.
