I am intrigued by the idea, but somehow I don't know if it will work.

I don't know if it will work either. I have my doubts that a Japanese developer would be on board for something like this. But at the very least, we need to show them that there IS a way it can happen, and that people really, really want it. If nothing else, as long as we can drum up a sufficient amount of fan support, they could show that to a publisher as proof that a new wrestling game would sell. They've gone on record as saying that the only thing keeping them from making a new wrestling game is the lack of a publisher, mostly due to the weak state of Japanese wrestling, popularity-wise. I don't think they realize, however, just how beloved their games are in the US.

EDIT: And just because my previous post was probably lost in a sea of gifs:

So guys.

AKI

This is the only way we'll ever get a new AKI wrestling game. Ever.

Contact them. Tell them that it can work. We can make this happen. DO IT.

EDIT: By the way, I've been thinking this since long before the Double Fine thing happened. Check my post history if you need to. The DF thing just proved to me that it can work.

I just hope that if people actually support this, the money actually gets used. As ShockingAlberto warned in another discussion...

The shitty thing about Kickstarters (not necessarily this, just in general) is that it's essentially a hole you throw money in to and hope it goes to the thing you're donating to.

Like one guy raised a $100k to make a movie about Neil Gaiman (with no actual prizes, just that the movie would probably be made) and then announced Gaiman wouldn't sign off on it.

I don't know if he was allowed to keep the money or not.
I want to remain optimistic about this, and I know this only one bad example, but I'm still worried. I don't want to get my hopes up only for them to get dashed.

Nobody answered my damned question!
Was the Undertaker coming out to Katy Perry actually real!? Or was it a mix?
I'm contemplating setting WWE HQ on fire if it was real.

They used Katy Perry's ET as his entrance music on the NBC presentation of Wrestlemania 27.

I'm putting serious thought into going to Mania seeing as how the tax return is much better then previously thought. Would the first row in the upper deck around sections 419/421 be decent or would I be better off spending a little more to get in a lower level? I like the idea of the first row. I just want to go to a Mania so the best seats aren't really a priority but I still want to enjoy myself.

I always like getting the first row of the upper deck for sporting events. Unimpeded view along with a lower price. Not sure what it would be like for a wrestling event, but if there's a significant price difference between those tickets and lower level tickets, I'd go for it.

Remember the ring is tiny and you might be viewing stuff on the screen to actually see something. Although, I imagine you'd be going to Miami for the indie stuff anyway. Hopefully you can join our Wrasslegaf meet-up.

The board is going to be lonely that week.

That's what I'm thinking. I had season tickets for the Browns in the first row in the upper deck and it was great, I'm just wondering if it might be to far for wrasslin.

But it's no fun if it isn't WWE*

I was in section 249, row 1 for Mania last year. I won't go that high again for a wrestling event.

Yeah, I wouldn't get your hopes up, but still, I honestly believe that this is our best chance at getting a new AKI-engine game. We have to at least try. AKI needs one more final run as the best wrestling game developer on the planet, before their legacy becomes...

(And think about it, it was fan support that got Fire Pro Returns made.)

I was thinking at least the seat will face the screen so at least I would have that. I was planning on flying in Sunday morning and leaving Monday morning but now I'm putting serious thought into flying into Ft. Lauderdale Saturday morning for ROH/DGUSA.

Yeah, Yakuza Black Panther. It's something, and definitely the closest thing we've gotten since Def Jam, but obviously it's not the same thing. If anything, though, it shows just how much they want to do a new wrestling title, and that they can still do it.

YOU'VE STILL GOT IT *clap clap* YOU'VE STILL GOT IT *clap clap*

But Undertaker-sama is so hypnotizing to H-daimyo, he wonders if he is a devil or an angel.

Btw, check out the finish of that Kenny Omega match I posted above - his 'One-Winged Angel' move is pretty damn brutal, I think I actually prefer it to the 'Croyt's Wrath'.

Do you really want to miss Low Ki vs PAC on Friday night at DGUSA?

@mickiejames "Ummm.... Did my ears just deceive me... Or did the Immortal Hulk Hogan just call Baby Bischoff the future of this business? Wth?! FML!!"

Mickie James gets it.

Double Fine has Tim Schafer speaking for them, who everyone loves, and the heart of hardcore gamers. I doubt an AKI/Syn-Sophia Kickstarter would get more than $5000, if that. As much as you hear people talk about they want another AKI game, wrestling fans aren't the type who will pony up dough for something like this. Plus it costs way more to make a fully featured wrestling title than an adventure game.

I know, I know...=/ I just figure that if there was ever a slim possibility that a new AKI game could come about, this would be it.

I guess another option would be to choose a publisher, like say Sega, since AKI did Yakuza Black Panther for them, and just bombard them with e-mails asking them to publish a new AKI title.

I feel your pain, brah. I want this more than anything, but I just don't see it happening unless THQ loses the lisense and some publisher out there remembers the good ol days of AKI games and brokers a deal.

you won group 2 or 3 or something, I won group 1. 1 comes before the rest, therefore my victory comes first therefore yugioh sucks.

fin

Group one is just the ones who get out of the way first.

After all according to royal rumble rules the later numbers are the better.

Therefore you lose Pyro.
