Big sticks are good! As are small sticks. Who carries around a VLX, Twinstick or that big Saturn dual thingy? We've already got like a hundred medium sticks to choose from.

For the new page:

Ok guys and gals, here is the competition:

Prize:

One Street Fighter X Tekken V.S. stick for either 360 or PS3, your choice. Whenever it ships.

VS.jpg

OR

Namco Store Black PS3 TE stick (if it is still available after 15 February, 2012; but I'll probably order one in the coming week if it looks like we are getting entries...so if the winner opts for it they can take it, otherwise it will just go into my collection)

namco.jpg

---> Choice of stick is negotiable, say, if you wanted a qanba or eightarc or even the cheaper Fightstick Pro Black version instead but I'd rather keep it Mad Catz since MarkMan started this thread. Just try to keep it $200-ish.

Who can enter?

Any GAF member from any country. I currently live in the middle east but depending on the winner's location it will either ship directly from the US manufacturer/US amazon/US Club Namco Store or I'll have the stick sent to my CA address then have it forwarded to your address...in other words, it might take a few extra days to arrive if you live outside the US.

How to enter:

First, you will need some type of arcade stick and some type of camera/phone camera. Be creative and photograph the stick (or sticks) in some type of creative location, juxtaposition, etc. Try to surprise. Photography skills are not really important, creativity is! Feel free to manipulate the image however you feel...JUST DON'T USE PHOTOSHOP TO BREAK CONTIGUOUS SPACE...stick(s) must be in a physical environment. Take the stick apart, use a candy cab...anything you want so long as a stick is in the photo. Indoors, outdoors, etc.

PM me your photo by the end of February 15, 2012 and I'll collect them all, resize them if I can figure it out, and then show them in this thread, unmarked from who they came from. Not sure how we will pick the winner, maybe collectively, maybe MarkMan will want to pick the best one...I'll let you know around the 15th through the 20th when I post all the entrants.

One entry per username!

(My job takes me away from the internets for a week or two at a time but I'll be back by the 15th. If I'm not gone, I'll PM you back that I got your entry but, rest-assured, if I don't PM you back within that day I'm probably gone, and up some mountain with no communication and I'll PM you once I get back.)

Hopefully we get a number of entries, or I'll by sad ;-( You've got three weeks!

Good luck folks! And perhaps quote for the new page so we can get as many entries as possible, especially if I'm not here to do so myself.

New page

Ehh my bad, didn't phrase it right :P

So is there a reason for this?

I have no idea actually, it sounds pretty meaningless, but there's got to be a reason.

But if the stick you want to buy has got quick disconnects, you can easily switch around with the layout. The button labels will be incorrect though...

So is there a reason for this?

I hear that at some point after the release of the original SF4 TEs Microsoft changed their controller license policy that required manufacturers to conform to a standardized button layout and coloring. I don't think there is an equivalent policy on the Sony side. If MarkMan is still around he would be the best person to ask about this.

Can anyone suggest a good place to grab stainless screws for my MadCatz MvC2 stick?
One seems to be somehow getting rusted, I blame Florida like I blame it for everything else.

So I have this fightstick that I bought like 2 years ago,

hrap0bj0z.jpg

it's still going strong, but since I've been playing SCV a lot these days I ordered a full set of Sanwa buttons to replace the stock Hori ones, I can't wait to try this stick with full sanwa parts.

I have a couple of questions thou, I placed the order with arcadespareparts.com, anyone here have ordered from them before? are they reliable? I hope I didn't screw up on that one, also according to my research it is very easy to swap the old buttons with the new ones, but how about the joystick ball? I ordered one as well to match the colors of the new buttons.

Never heard of that store before, hope that goes well for you. All my parts come from either Lizard Lick or Akihabarashop.

On switching the balltop, same advice I gave a few posts up - when you have the top plate off to swap the buttons, you'll see a slot for a flat-head screwdriver on the bottom of the lever shaft. Stick a screwdriver in there to keep the shaft steady while you unscrew the balltop and screw in the one you're replacing it with. It'll look pretty similar to the photos posted above:

I have that same stick with Sanwa buttons as well. You'll see an immediate improvement once you swap the buttons out. Have fun!

Awesome, I didn't know that!

Cool, I am glad I finally decided to do it, now I have to wait like up to 15 days for my stuff to arrive, let the waiting game begins...

The new Black versions of the TE Pro sticks are now up for preorder at Gamestop. Might take me away from buying one of the SC5 Hori sticks.

There's nothing good right now. Toodles is working on it though.

。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

Oh well. I think I'll get a VX SA and then possibly put in a seimitsu stick.

I would LOVE to dualmod my HRAP 3-SA, but I haven't the slightest clue how, and I've never soldered before.

Modding 360 support into a PS3 controller is significantly harder than modding PS3 support into a 360 controller. There are guides to do so, but you might as well just get another stick.

Wow really? There isn't just a universal PCB or adapter or something? Damn...

The issue is 360 controllers have a proprietary security chip or something that no one has duplicated so far. You'd have to tear apart a working 360 controller to get at its PCB. Security on the PS3 end isn't as tight, thus the mod being easier in the other direction.

Wow, what a difference that octagonal gate made. I was starting to doubt how effective it would be because of how much people seem to bash it, but it worked out.

Couple things i quickly realized:

I don't ride the gate much from the 2p side
I really really ride the gate from 1p side - this is where the new gate made the biggest difference

I'm liking my octo gate, too. Noticing the same things overall.

Awesome! I'm glad people came aboard haha

I'd be down to take apart a controller - I have a few spares. Would it be difficult to wire in? Soldering required?

(sry for double post)

So as I mentioned before I picked up both the MK Klassic Fight Stick and the WWE Brawl Stick recently. Just tried the MK Stick tonight for the first time and wowzers, it immediately felt amazing to play with. I know people don't like the quality and say it fails but man do I want to get a second one. It just feels right for playing MK.

Will try the Brawl Stick tomorrow when I play some fighting games with some coworkers after work.

Reposting for new page. Five days left.

I upgraded my SE stick to Seimitsu parts a while back, but yesterday I finally got around to changing the art.
IMG_8003-1-1.jpg
This is great. I just picked up one of the PS3 WWE Brawl Sticks at gamestop for $30 (thanks CAG), going to be my first modding exercise :) Probably do Sanwa with it and maybe I'll finally give fighting games a good try (have an EX-SE for shmups on 360). Its smaller than I expected, but feels pretty darn sturdy.

Not sure what I want to do about artwork though, I'm not very creative (though I'd like even a flat color more than these wrestlers). Want to figure it out before I start ordering parts.
