had a chance to try it at my local gamestop....sexy little machine! and yes its surprisingly light as people have said

rear touch pad in little deviants takes a little getting used to...but im eager to play more when i get a vita

now itwas a demo unit with the word DEMO MODE in the UI, but when I was playing a game, when i press the PS Vita button on the bottom left, it "exits" the game immediately (no background mode)....is that how the real vita unit works?

ugh. Show the fucking hardware and games Sony. If you wanted to play viral fucking arthouse advert shit, the time for that was at the start of the year to start the thunder rolling. Not now.

How does Amazon deliver release day stuff? Do they do it through regular mail or do they use UPS. I'll be working Wednesday and am worried about my FEB sitting on my doorstep all day.

No its not like that at all on the real OS.

By the way, I hate sonys marketing dept

I have always had my release day shipments ship via UPS. If you are worried about it being on your door all day, you should be able to sign in to the UPS website and have them hold it at a local distribution center or store. Then just pick it up on your way home.

Sony needs a new marketing team, they have dropped the ball on the Vita completely in the US. The only ad you see is from Taco Bell, they should have been whoring this device out months ago.

This is a new marketing team. They just fired their head of marketing a few months back (which, rumor has it, is why the vita stuff is so late out of the gate).

This is probably because it is too late now, but when i try to preorder the FEB Amazon tells me the estimated delivery date is Feb 21st. Does anyone else have this similar issue?

Finalized my order.

WiFi
32GB card
Hori Screen Protector
Craddle
I will pick up a case when I find one I like. The PDP crystal case is supposedly going to take mid march to get to me so I will wait.

Downloading:

Lumines
HSG
WipEout
Super Stardust Delta
Escape Plan

Going to rent: Fifa, Virtua Tennis, and Rayman and decide if I want them in my collection.

EXCITE!!!

It's also worth noting that early adopters react more positively to fact based advertising. We want to see things. We want to see specs. We want to know how it works.

The rest of the world reactions to emotional advertising.

So this isn't necessarily a bad ad, it's just not timed right. The rest of the world isn't in the market for a vita yet. We are.

But, then again, the best or worst tv campaign ever isn't going to sway us in one direction or the other, which is why advertisers tend to ignore folks like us anyway.

Why would you have two Vitas? That's absurd.

well.... not particularly.

Japanese games are launching at 5800-6800 yen, which comes in around 4200-5080 yen a shot for me (retail and download thus work out the same)

that averages out to about $60 a game at Japanese retail.

I can go via play-asia who are going to whack a $5-10 premium on every game, but would work out a bit cheaper, then i need to get it delivered to Japan ($15 fast delivery) or just suck up the wait - so that helps a bit.

Getting a second Japanese machine for purely downloads means i can get the games day and date and at US cost, with no middleman/deliveries in the way.

Now, buying a second 3G or Wifi base at 24,980 yen lowest - i wasn't going to do that. However, the local 7-11 had their two units on clearance - so i snagged a Wifi at 19,980 yen.

So... in my warped mind - given i'll definitely be buying <stupid> number of US games, then i'd likely recover the cost of the second machine in about 10 games time (US vs JPN prices) which is going to take about 1 month to hit.

The plus side is i have no fannying about with card switching whilst out and about if i fancy switching games, i can carry less in the way of cards, and i get "double vita battery life".

So now i have a dedicated 3G Vita 32gig for Japanese software and a dedicated Wifi 32 Gig for US software. OR! I could just make them both US/JPN and have double battery life for long trips! HUZZAH!

(yes, i know ... i'm grasping at straws and it was a dumb thing to do. But hey)

this is even more fucked up

this is a) The Sun b) the UK

Needs more knife crime and dubstep to make it appeal to the youth.

RE: Boxing glove thingy ad

#facepalm - nice one Sony, a few weeks to go and you roll out a weird viral campaign? Dear me.

I was looking on PSN last night hoping to see some HD video of Vita footage, but came up short. I found a trailer for Wipeout 2048 at least. Why are they lying so low?

Believe me, I've thought about it.

Depending on the quality of your UPS guy, you could leave a note asking to put it somewhere a bit more secure - like around back - or whatever (depending on where you live, of course). And also there are some UPS guys that won't drop off if a sig is required (Im not sure if the vita is or isnt, i know games from amazon dont require a sig). If you aren't home you will have to drive out to the UPS place after 5 or 6pm and pick it up there.

I move a lot, and get a lot delivered, so I've unwillingly become a bit of an UPS expert. Unfortunately what i've learned is that all the drivers do it differently, so it's hard to predict.

I like the guy i have now, if im not home he will put it in a pre-arranged spot.

Sorry, that joke was just begging for it

Clearly Sony fans have to pick up the ball that Sony's marketing efforts have dropped to sell the Vita to their friends, family and co-workers.
The company has proven itself incapable of selling their products to the mass market.

If the Sony diehards don't do their part then the Vita and Sony as a gaming company will cease to exist. We'll be left with nothing more than Sony the insurance firm.

There isn't much crime were I live, but what worries me is that those shady magazine salesman have been trolling my neighborhood the last few days. I wouldn't put anything past those poor kids.

I have the cash, I just can't use it this week because of work so I'm not gonna go through with it. But I'll play my Regular Vita on MLK day when I have off!

Anyone else trying to convince themselves into getting the FEB? I can't do it.

I want one so bad :(

I was so tempted, especially since the case they give seems better than what I have expected. But I don't want the 3G model for $50 extra, so thats why I don't want to get FEB.

If it was like Canadian FEB where they price it t $299 and with wifi only model, I would have gotten it.

Well even if the new marketing head has only been in the job for a week, time to fire them a'fucking-gain.

Hiding behind lame-ass brand giveaways with Taco Bell, Coke Zero and the goddam Sun rather than showing off a dual analog OLED screen hardware beast with a launch lineup that even fucks the Dreamcast's is just.... jesus christ.

Then their own ad is going to be more of that fucking live action mini-drama bullshit that doesn't make people want the product at all, like those godawful 'THIS IS LIVING' PS3 ads from like 2007. Yeah, how'd that work out for you, assholes? Not good? Spin-cycle and try again, sure why not. Dumb motherfuckers.

PS: GRAVITY RUSH EU RELEASE DATE. DELIVER IT IMMEDIATES.

If you have the cash, I'd just get it. The wait after everyone's already received their FEBs will probably be much harder.

This.

For me it would be tough looking through the February pick up post and seeing everybody with their vitas, and people posting their impressions in this thread. Its why I picked up the FEB. If i was going to wait, I would have to leave the gaming side for a week.

Jesus Christ why don't they just let the system sell its self...

show it! Show the damn games! Show the damn graphics! Let the kids and teens drive their parents crazy until they get one themselves.

wtf are these ads suppose to sell, they just insult the intelligence of the age group they are going after.

you would think you try to be creative with ads for items that need it....some that don't have a following.....with these PlayStation products, just show the games. You invest so much money into developing them, so why not.

This is what I don't get about Sony. They're also a giant music company, with tons of popular stars.

Why don't they ever get any of those to use in advertising?

Well fuck it, I'm buying Lumines Electronic Symphony. My girlfriend is some sort of uncultured troglodyte who has never seen Lumines before so I dug up my PSP version and let her play a round. I was immediately hooked back in while watching her play. Game is so fucking good. Still had my old save with a couple of maxed out scores on it.

Wise one, Why are they wrong?

Well if you look at Extreme pro 32gig SD cards [UHS Class] they are about $120 +.
I'm very sure the cards Sony use are high speed for gaming and filled with proprietary security features which is not cheap. Folks need to stop comparing $25 32gig Class 10 SD cards to this version.

OH LOOKY HERE! YOU CAN PLAY A GREAT LOOKING FIFA GAME ANYWAY WHERE YOU WANT AND YOU CAN SHOOT THE BALL BY PUSHING THE BACK OF THE DAMN THING!
