I'd like to think that the crazy Youtube fella and the crazy dudes on various Naruto / Bleach / OP forums are actually the "special" cases. The average fan is not going to act crazy/hyperbolic like that--that's the very definition of 'average fan'; to generally like something in moderation.
In fact, "average fan" implies a large amount of fans, and thus it is similar to the word "most". Now, if you say that most fans of those mangas are actually as crazy as those people, I'd say that is an unfair generalization. "Pompous" or "Arrogant" are the words I'm gonna use to describe anyone that actually believe it.
Yeah, narutoforums and apforums are largely cesspools but there are definitely some alright and smart people on them. Bleachasylum is just...yeah. They also take the manga far more seriously than the other two.
Fan is the shortened form of "fanatic". I didn't say the average fans of N/B/OP are as crazy (or trollish) as the dude in the video, just that they are like, weird. Have you seen people talk about these things? I mean, the average fan. These are the people that say their respective favorite is "The best manga ever!" I've looked at MangaStream's (RIP) facebook in the past and have seen these kinds of things. Just go to a YouTube video of an AMV of the big 3 or some shit like that. the comments are all nonsensical and shit like that.
Not to mention that the vocal fanbase of these manga are usually younger folks (I don't know how old all of you on mangaf are). And we all know how kids are.
Just like with most things that are popular, I think you'll find more immature people that praise it than mature.

Wrong. AP forums are the worst since they have a thread to shit on Bleach and Naruto. I could link it, but i think it´s bannable to link to other forums. There are no such threads on BA and Narutoforums. On BA one discusses Bleach and not shit on other manga. The shipswars are extremely ridiculous though. But that´s beside the point.

The issue is that the biggest business is shounen jump. Its like the major label system. What these guys need to do, is form artist collectives and release things in more limited runs for a higher price while releasing them online to a subscription service for a low price. Take the edge approach. Use better paper, release things on monthly basis so you can actually tell a small story with a beginning middle and end within each chapter.

It was implied a while back that Beam actually did join AP and got butthurt after being banned for posting a dumb opinion, but he denies that to this day and continues to accuse me of being some type of active AP-nite when I only post there like once a month max. In short, his hatred seems to be personal vendetta.
I still do not understand the hate for such a small, innocent forum like AP.
AP forum started sucking when they decided that EVERYTHING should go into one of their idiotic massive mega threads and anything else posted outside it is immediately flamed and/or merged.
Everything is "General <massive all encompassing topic> Thread" where everyone is constantly repeating themselves and everything gets lost in tens of simultaneous conversations going on in a single thread. Anything new unveiled within a new chapter *has* to go into the chapter general discussion which makes it impossible to follow theories or discussions over multiple chapters. It's idiotic. I only visit for spoilers these days.

Arlong Park is both the home of the main core of the One Piece fanbase, and home of real manga fans who read manga because it's their passion. I am a member of other manga forums, and i had some very pathetic and hateful PM´s from op fans because i like Bleach. OP fans come to Bleach threads and troll. OP fans are among the most hated fans on that forum, because they troll Naruto subforum which is the largest by far, Bleach which is the second largest, Fairy Tail and other manga.
Criticizing the manga is one thing, but the way the do it shows hate for both manga and mangaka.
