So this will be the last Modnation Racers game then?
I sure hope so.

They've had three shots to nail this franchise and every single installment is filled with massive technical problems. Oddly enough the PSP version features the smoothest framerate and fastest loading. They simply don't have the technical know-how of Media Molecule.

Aren't they developing LBP Karting?

Yes and all I can say is that they can make a fun game but damnit all if Sony doesn't help them get the loading issues straightened out. 3 games and 3 ridiculous loading models. I don't care if they think it's impossible to do, it's possible.

Little Deviants review scores = canceling FEB justified!

That game will be $10 within 60 days.

The rest is worth it in my eyes though. You could look at Deviants as a cheap 10 dollar cash in later and may be right but the rest of the FEB is worth it at least at face value and we still get the PSN voucher and data plan.

To above poster, I was going wifi for almost the whole time but honestly, I don't have any 3/4G devices in my house and the Vita fits that bill perfectly. Heck, I was dead set on a 3G one up until about 2-3 weeks ago and then really set my sights on a FEB. So definitely 3G as it's a huge step up for my portable needs.

I am not sure if ti can be fixed, due to the nature of having to send/load custom track data

Honestly I'd rather have a static set of tracks and better load times myself.

Exactly. I hope that's what LBP racing is but they need some serious help. I know no one else has done a kart racer like UF but there is no excuse for how their game works. It needs to be tightened up.

just ordered my Vita from best buy (in store pickup). First system I've got a launch sense the 360/wii. All for a golf game... that looks ugly.... but damn if its not my favorite series ever.

I've made up my mind.

Fifa, Uncharted, Rayman and possibly Shinobi will be day 1. No love for Shinobi here? :(

I was going to buy Rayman but a fellow gaffer talked me out of it and I'm happy for that. I will pick it up in a month or two for 20 I hope. Or just wait on a sale online.

The problem with the 3DS was that it was targeting outside of where it had always succeeded (kids and casuals) with a $250 device aimed at more hardcore gamers. It failed in that regard until it refocused, cut the price to a more acceptable one for kids/casuals, and pumped the market with a ton of first party Nintendo franchises.

The Vita aims at the $250 hardcore gamer market much like the 3DS, but unlike Nintendo Sony has the games and the hardware to actually be much more attractive to said market. It will succeed much, much better than the 3DS at it's launch. How it will do in the longterm is more unknown.

3DS's glasses free 3D feature also failed to help prop up the perceived price/value. These combination of reasons, plus insufficient launch library, caused Nintendo to go back to DS formula, and cannibalized DS instead. But at least they renewed interests and momentum in 3DS. They also proved that if done right, a renewed DS could thrive in the smart phone era.

Vita's price point is closer to smartphones and small pads. It will need to justify the asking price more aggressively. Besides better games, build quality, apps, image/brand, performance will be under scrutiny... unless they can come up with some unique angles to position Vita.

They may also show how Vita can help to improve Android/iOS entertainment experiences by carrying a Vita as a companion. PS Suite is also important to show developers that their games can be available/optimized first on PS devices and then run on other devices as well.

We'll have to see how all these ideas pan out. A lot depends on Sony's (nimble and sure-footed) execution.

I only played the demo but Shinobido seemed really, really, really terrible. And that's coming from someone who put dozens of hours into Tenchu 360. I'd strongly advise people to avoid that one, or at least wait for a price drop.

And still, the 3DS had a more successful launch in Japan. In the end it always comes down to the games. Nintendo didn't have the "right" games to justify a 250 euro device and i don't think Sony has them either.

Personally the posibilities with the GPS for the 3G version pushed me into 3G. I was staunchly in the WiFi camp up until last week.

Battery life is of more importance to me, and using GPS will make it even worse. I'm going wifi and putting the extra money towards a 16GB card.

I should also note, I already have a 4G wifi hotspot as well, so the 3G connectivity is not important to me at all. I'll be able to do ALOT more with the hotspot.

Ouch, some of the review scores are now justifying my resistance to buying day 1.

Lame, I wanted to want this more than I actually want this.

Doesn't help I finally played a demo unit, and wasn't instantly impressed. It's overall slightly too big for my hands, and the buttons too small, and the sticks a little strange.

I know this is a really selfish thought but...
I really hope there won't be any games that have cool 3G features. We Canadians didn't even get the 3G model. :(

Another game that might interest you is Hustle Kings. I believe it will be available Feb. 22nd on PSN.

Also, Congrats! Welcome to the new Master Race!

I doubt there will be. Even on my iPhone, outside of maps the GPS does not hold much value above location-over-wifi which is accurate enough for the majority of potential uses. I don't fault anyone who springs the extra for a 3G model, but if the GPS is their main reasoning, I don't think it is going to pay off in any meaningful way.

Review scores seem to be pretty good from what I'm seeing.

Well, you're losing out on GPS, but some location capabilities are available through "Skyhook" SSID-based positioning.

As far as the social/autolog stuff, you get all the same features with Wifi. It's just obviously not an always-on situation. I'm happy to be getting the 3G model, but I don't think it's critical. In all honesty, I expect to cancel the ATT plan after the first 2 months. Unless I'm playing a game that really benefits from the always-on (and I'm still under a wifi umbrella most of the time), I don't see the reason to pay $15/month.

If 6 and 7 ares good?

Outside of FIFA (don't want) and Uncharted (mildly want).. there's Super Start Dust that's getting what would be considered high aggregate review scores. The rest are all over the place.
