Did it have an english publisher? I will spend money for it, help me out duder!

Don't think so. I bought the Italian edition.

Magi

So I read this, up to 22. My reactions were thus.

Ch1: Dude whoa this is really cool. Reactions to Hugo are the funniest shit ever. Hugo himself is killing me.

Ch10: Yeah this is amazing, I'm really into it. Carry on

Ch22
JESUS GOD DAMN WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT FUCK PIECE OF FUCKING ALL MY EVERYTHING HATE AND CAPRICORNS HELL SHIT

ALL

MY

EVERYTHING

(so yeah i love the shit out of this, really didn't expect it to be this fun. totally marathoning the rest tomorrow)

I'm liking Magi as well (only read the first 2 volumes so far). I started buying it without knowing it was made by the same person that did Sumomomo Momomo, which I've loved, so I was really surprised in seeing the artwork in the volume and realize that.

Damn it...

I'm honestly emotionally hurt by this story. So many similarities with my own life, only my version of the story doesn't have a happy ending at all...

Damn it.

You wanted to date a teenage girl who turned out to be already married to a 30 year philandering doctor? That's odd.

They're not. Mangastream is all straight laced and sticks to lofty principles. They're actually dropping the Viz series.

Well I have to assume somebody is picking up One Piece, Naruto, Bleach and Hunter x Hunter. I find it rather unbelievable that we're just waiting for the Alpha releases in 2 weeks.

Wasn't there an interview back when Alpha was announced that said they're aiming to shorten the 2 weeks, but then the interview said nothing about adding more series?

It's such a weird thing. More than anything else I'm just confused.
It's not weird to me. It's on the right track but still missing the mark; I would pay for all the series I read at the price Alpha costs (which is like what, a buck a week?) and will sign up for Alpha regardless of whether they get it up to day and date or not. I just don't see how they're taking something which could be the perfect replacement for blatantly illegal releases and gimping it just enough so that nobody will actually buy it. The problem is that MS, etc. releases simply make it clear that there isn't *really* an excuse to make it 2 weeks behind Japan. I don't know though - I think if we were *used* to series being 2 weeks behind, we wouldn't care, either.

My assumption is that the bean counters at Shuiesha literally cannot comprehend why it matters to US fans and in a way I think I see their point.

So the latest stuff won't be on their site until 2 weeks after?

Way to kill any fucking interest people would have possibly gathered...

I kinda edited in a lot of what I think about it, but yea, 2 weeks. When you think about it, the only reason we care is because we're used to it that way - if we stopped getting such early spoilers and just had to wait 2 weeks, it would be no different than how it is now.

Yea but the problem is that it is different and an expectation has been set/ingrained.

For them to replace that with a much shittier version (wait 2 weeks after, not having all the series someone may give a fuck about, etc) and paying for that is a bitter pill to swallow (even worse when we have seen that's its possible to be much better).

I say either match what the competition was doing at least or prepare for people really not giving a shit.

Ahahahaha, of course not you silly man.

Just the overall getting cheated circumstances and such and such.

Surprisingly similar, although mine did not have a happy ending :\

....

So, does the Viz-Mangastream shenanigans means that we will not going to read the big 3 the usual way ever again?

50 cents a week for a year sub. Plus I heard the translator may be Stephen. Worth it for his translations alone if true. But then again its only 6 series.

Yep they have to match what people are used and that's why CR works for anime .
If they bring it out a day late that's no problem but 2 weeks or even a week is long time compare to now.

That's only because scanlators don't have anyone to answer to and don't need anyone's approval except their own before they release something though.
Publishers need the approval of the Japanese license holder (and sometimes the original author as well) before they can release and with the way they can be anal some times, a 2 weeks delay would give them enough room to have materials ready and approved ahead of time.

We used to hear the same thing for anime , if they want to make money they will get over it .
Just like how they did for anime with CR.
The Mangaka are already ahead of the chapter we reading it should not be problem to get them early .

I picked this one on a whim and loved it. It seems its getting an anime since its past 120 chapters.

I have been reading Prism and Sasameki Koto. Great yuri romance. On that front, I'd also recommend... what is it, Gokujo Drops and Girl Friends? I also liked Kissing Mars. Oh, and Huskey and Melody!

Yuri erryday

Some are more explicit than others.
I personally found Gokujou Drops to be pretty bad.
I would more or less agree with the others.

He isn't just okay. He may be the best translator around. IMO.

He is good but aohige was better IMO when it came to OP cause he also remember the OP world when he did his translations but he not a translator .
That is some thing i wish more translators should remember not only for manga but anime also.
They translate stuff and sometimes it make no sense in the context of the world or it just stupid it happens allot in anime subs.

Sigh, I was considering signing up for that Shonen Jump Alpha service Viz offers, but apparently Hunter X Hunter isn't even covered by it.

It's most irritating considering that's the series for which I'm most eagerly awaiting updates.

If you're going to shut down your free competition, at least step up your game Viz. I know the fact that they've made their service online and only two weeks behind Japan is a huge improvement over Viz a few years ago, but it's still inferior to the service Mangastream provided for free. Image quality is superior, but series coverage and release time is inferior.

I liked the one where each was in each other series outfits, though Im incapable of searching tumblr for that image. Saw this one yesterday, always nice to see on the dashboard.

Manga Fox skirts the law by being in Taiwan or something

The parent company is based in China and not only do they run a manga website they have one for anime and games I believe. Then again I don't think this matters that much if they have servers hosted in the US since they can probably shut them down on that ground.

Wasnt there an international coalition setup for manga publishers for that matter?

Strobe Edge vol 1

Bought the first volume and, although it isn't the most original of shojo stories, I liked what I've read so far.
Ninako is interesting in the way she starts out as a girl that doesn't think too much with her head and instead follow other people's leads and directions but by the end of the first volume she has started using her own head to figure out her own feelings.
Her doomed (start of a) confession at the end of the first volume was the highlight of that change I feel. If the story keeps up more or less like the first volume, I can see myself being pretty happy.

Not among my favourites when it comes to shoujo mangas, but it was still an ok read. Overall it had some pretty interesting points but I still felt like it lacked something.
