I'd just like to say that my Taiwanese (nationality) friends on facebook literally won't shut the fuck up about Lin.

Every other status update/link/photo is about Lin.

He's had, what, 3 good matches?

8 or so.

okay, he's had 7 or 8 good games.

He isn't even Taiwanese is he?

It's all the same stuff that happened with Wang at the Nationals, but at least he was Taiwanese.

And by the way, I know basically nothing about Basketball. Just to make that clear.

His parents immigrated from Taiwan.

He's not aboriginal Taiwanese.

And to be fair the Knicks are playing well thanks to his playmaking, they were on a streak and showed they could compete against higher tier teams like the Lakers and Mavs

The hype is annoying, but the man is playing very well, except for those turnovers

I dunno why its annoying, they are covering the hottest story. Its their job to do so.

More Lin the better. The city is alive. And he's helping people across the world. Its cool.

Amare isn't even as good as Boozer anymore.

He's fucking done. Him and his uninsured knees.

you're putting chalmers over lin? get outta here

It's:

Tyson > Joel
Amare = Bosh
LeBron > Melo
Wade > Fields/whoever
Lin > Chalmers

Ignoring the ridiculousness of using individual match-ups to gauge how two teams match up, I'm just going to say no on that one. Hell no, actually.

If only we had competent ownership maybe the Lakers could have had Lin. :(

The Lakers don't have competent ownership any more, but this is not their fault at all.

Last season when they gave Lin an offer, he chose to sign with his home town team instead.

This season when the Lakers tried to claim him off waivers, the Rockets picked up him instead due to their worse record last season, which gave them priority. At that point NY was not involved because if they did, they would've gotten him instead of the Rockets. By the time the Rockets released Lin, the Knicks decided they need a PG so they claimed him.

In other words, fuck Morey. He cock blocked the Lakers by claiming Lin only to have him released. There's nothing the Lakers could do to get him.

So let's all hope the Rockets get stuck in mediocre hell for an eternity.

You really think Melo wont work Brewer and Deng?

It would be a war.
well for starters, it would be rip in that position, not brewer. And yeah, deng would put the pressure on melo. The only matchup in favor of the knicks in this scenario is amare and boozer because boozer would rather give high fives than play basketball against .500 teams.

So Melo would not outplay Deng. Madness.

Deng is one of the best defending 3s in the league... He doesn't even need to stop Melo, just make sure that he stays inefficient - which Melo is naturally.

Knicks will be a great 2k team though

Just making it to the playoffs and doing alright will be a big accomplishment considering where this team was. The odds are against them versus these better teams but that's what makes it exciting to watch, to see how far they can go and if they can keep doing the improbable. If Lin can win the whole damn thing then it will be linmania for the rest of the year.

As a Knicks fan since birth, and as a Brooklyn dude, I can tell you that if Lin managed to not only continue playing well but carry the Knicks to "win the whole damn thing" it won't merely be Linmania, as least not where New York is concerned. We will worship Jeremy Lin like some enlightened God, casting rose petals at his feet and kissing his hand as we build great massive golden statues in his honor. I remember the disappointment when Patrick Ewing's Knicks failed to carry the title during the 90s, New Yorkers would raise Lin so high in honor that we will have weeks of revelry and debauchery until eventually we find a way to elect him President of the USA.

A pleasant fantasy but the Melo and Stat taint will never let that happen.

I'm already tired of hearing about him. Why do sports fans need to go crazy over one guy like he's sent from another world. First it was Tebow and then it was Lin, whose next?

It's the love of the underdog story. I bet it has little to do with sports for most of the people who are suddenly turning in, at least not in the "I love basketball and am suddenly realizing thanks to Lin" form. It's more of a "this guy came out of nowhere and is just doing amazingly well, what a fascinating story."

If he keeps going, the story just keeps getting better and better.
