Great episode, so confused on Sakakibara's status
ghost or not ghost?

Episode felt great with everyone now talking, Teshigawara clearly the one keeping things lighthearted and interesting, best character....So much blood

Phi Brain 20

This is now getting even more intense. Gammon is definitely quite cool and although I dont think one needs both Solver and Giver status to
get the God Scrolls
his puzzles really give what most of the previous givers have a run for their money.

Though Im still cheering for Kaito to go for it, one of my favorite protags and finally an aspect that has him not only trying to reestablish friendship with Rook but now something to save the world. Rook ought to target Nonoha next, as he still seems to have some jealously over her

hmm, bad gifs, unrestrained amounts of schooldays, and fanart, the animugaf doomsday must be coming. Let me get my shelter ready.

The Light of El Cantare
Fistbump. It's not Sekai's fault that she's got a bigger set of ovaries than Kotonoha.

Seriously, Kotonoha needed to step her girlfriend game up episodes ago. Anyone would take the girl who will have sex with you just because she sits next to you in class over the one that will only do you in a European hunting lodge after getting off to watching you ride a white horse in full riding regalia.

Sometimes you just have to reward practicality.

This view of Saya's efforts never occurred to me while watching, but damn if it doesn't make me laugh in hindsight. I feel like I watched the series the wrong way.

Being aware of the big joke surrounding
Saya "protecting" people
is the only way to make it through the show with your brain intact. As I've found, though, it doesn't completely take away the experience. I'm laughing, but there are still so many tears.

It's all part of the cycle, once the sinners have been cleansed, animeGAF will be reborn anew. Before each journey we always take a moment to realize we can't take our time together with our comrades nakama for granted. RIP Emubro. :firehawk

SHIT JUST GOT CONSIDERABLY MORE REAL

Note to self: Should I ever plan to commit suicide, I will do it by eating the barrel of a high caliber pistol. Stabbing myself in the neck seems like an extremely agonizingly slow and difficult way of killing myself. I don't want to suffer before I go, I just want it to end instantly like a light going out.

Anyways, after we got through Mr. Homeroom's bloody suicide, this episode gives a lot of hints as to who the Another may be.

Everyone seems too convinced that Kouichi isn't the Another. That in itself is a red herring. But the way Mei acts this episode makes it sound like she knows considerably more than she is letting on, which is the usual for her. <3 Either she knows she is the Another, meaning she really did die on the operating table during her tumor removal, or she knows she isn't and Kouichi actually is and she is lying to him about it.

I knew something was up when they used a 3D background for only the second time in the series, I was like this has to be a dream sequence, and it was! Kouichi has some wicked nightmares too, that shit creeped me out pretty hardcore. That was some pretty serious Raiders of the Lost Ark face-melting going on there, very well-animated and staged with the garish nightmare-lighting.

I love how they are having a beach episode and somehow it actually fits into the overarching story, it's not just some random going to the beach for fanservice and that's the only reason. I mean, there's going to be fanservice, but it's also going to move the story forward too. They completely telegraphed the events of the next episode when Kouichi and Mei were chatting with Mr. Creepy Librarian, they pretty much said that they'll have fun on the beach and then 2 people will die horribly while they are there. I'm looking forward to it. Nobody's been beheaded or dismembered yet, so maybe we'll get one of those next!

The remainder of the core cast for Medaka Box has been announced:

Emiri Kato -- Hansode Shiranui
Daisuke Namikawa -- Kouki Akune
Ai Kayano -- Mogana Kikajima

Also, the ending theme song is credited to Medaka, so it'll probably be something in-character from Aki Toyosaki.

The Castle of Cagliostro (Rewatch)

Man, I love this film. Fun, action-packed, with good ol' Lupin and gang. Something just made me want to rewatch this before searching out another Lupin work. Not sure if I'm the only one that enjoys the English dub work and script done (at least for the gang) in this film. Anyways, nice film that makes me feel all goods inside after watching. Looking forward to watching another Lupin film/special soon (one I haven't seen this time).

Apart from what happens at the start, not much else happened (with shock value). Good episode though. The melting part was interesting too.

Not sure what was better
knife in the throat, or all the face melting(quality gif material right there btw).

Wait till you get to the
death gurgles
next episode.

It's streaming in 1080p on Crunchyroll and is probably one of the best examples of their HD streams looking really good.
that has pretty much everything to do with it being mastered at around ~1600x900. same thing for nise and the bad cg in space pirates

With limited, optional application this is fine - nothing wrong with populist art - but as a broad philosophy it is a terrible, creativity-constricting idea. As a real world example, this kind of thinking at Disney/Pixar is what ran Chris Sanders and Brenda Chapman out of town and turned 'esoteric' concepts like American Dog and The Bear and The Bow into Bolt and Brave, respectively.

I don't agree. Aside from the fact that I don't exactly subscribe to the distinction between low-brow/fine-art--as you can probably gauge from the line of idea that I'm spouting, I believe it to be nothing more than unnecessary statement of deviation from some archaic, elitist norm; a fancy way of saying 'alternative,' and assembling the hierarchy. I don't think that to be wrongly reducing--I think that all artistic endeavors need a bit of good guidance, and in no way believe that helping-hand to be terrible/'creativity-constricting'. A message is always better when understood, right? With that said, I do subscribe to the notion that with restraint comes the most innovation, in all endeavors, really.

Also, your examples, while nice sounding, don't really work. I'm speaking specifically of finished products. Who's to say that the films weren't changed for the 'collectively-perceived' (If I'm allowed that, lol) better at the end of the day. You can't really reference something that has no critiques on record.

Haha! R.I.P Emubro. Went with the winds of the :firehawk. I'd pour a 40 out for you but all I have are 12s.

I'm pretty sure Lord Google wouldn't allow us to have graphic
face-melting
GIFs anyways. I could make them but they would way be too NSFW to ever use and I enjoy not being banned.

I was going to post a gif of the Hig scene I was talking about but had the same fear.

Oh...Please no....If thats true then FFFFFUUUUUUUUU. The last scene makes your theory quite likely too.

Lol I don't want that at all, but would be a hilarious troll.
Think that thought just came to me as an 'anime' version of
new life can defeat death
thing from Final Destination.

Tetsuro knows he's in an anime romcom and isn't going to stand for its more BS narrative conventions. Takes matters into his own hands.

Is this supposed to be a one-cour or two-cour show?

I must say the rather straightforward nature of the writing is incredibly refreshing when compared to the frustratingly stupid beating around the bush stuff you usually tend to see with shows like this.

Stop tempting me!

Okay here's the problem with killing someone off in episode 1/2.

It doesn't work because there's no emotional attachment at all. The main character is emo, the audience just sit there and wonders why. You can't expect the audience to empathize with the loss of a person they don't know/care about

So it ends up being a lot of useless wangst.
Yeah, but what if we learn about their backstory 6 episodes later? That totally works out, right?

I'll never understand why people do this. Are you telling me that after watching 20 minutes of a movie, you literally pause it, just to go tell people that you're 20 minutes into a movie and it SUPER R0XX0RZ? Would you also take out your phone in the cinema during a movie just to tweet about how AMAZING an action scene is while watching it? :/

I've actually seen people do that. Welcome to the future.

It's actually not as good without the screaming.

Man, the uncensored BDs are gonna provide so many great gifs, that is, assuming they are.

The TV airings are barely censored as it is. The uncensoring on BDs won't make that much difference, especially since the
face-melting
sequence is entirely uncensored to begin with! So far the only censoring seen has been
the umbrella neck-impalement and the knife stuck-in-throat
and everything has been left uncensored, including the
face splattering as it hits the bottom of the elevator!
