The Castle of Cagliostro (Rewatch)

Man, I love this film. Fun, action-packed, with good ol' Lupin and gang. Something just made me want to rewatch this before searching out another Lupin work. Not sure if I'm the only one that enjoys the English dub work and script done (at least for the gang) in this film. Anyways, nice film that makes me feel all goods inside after watching. Looking forward to watching another Lupin film/special soon (one I haven't seen this time).

Which dub did you see? I watched the Manga UK one quite recently, with David Hayter as the lead. He actually plays a pretty decent (Miyazaki) Lupin, I really enjoyed the dub. Apparently it was one of his favourite roles too, which is nice. :)

Ha!, yeah that's the one. :) I'm looking for more specials/films (as I haven't watched many and Lupin has a ton). Any other recommendations of Lupin ones besides Blood Seal?

I like the Hayter dub of Cagliostro as well. Old dub is pretty old dub-y though, not a good thing.

Old dubby gonna old dub.

At this point, I don't think this is going to have a happy ending. :(

It seems that Megamass is really the ones responsible for practically everything. Isaka wants to find her brother in the cyberspace, Haraken wanted to find Kanna, and now it seems Nekome and his brother want to find their father.

The worst part of these episodes is the intentional obscuration of some vital information, the mysterious cyberbody that Nekome is looking for. Just tell us what it is, or don't say anything about it, don't pull this nonsense.

If you liked Cagliostro, I'm sure you would enjoy The Fuma Conspiracy. That is a definite must-see IMO, probably my favourite animated movie in general, let alone Lupin related. I also enjoyed Episode: 0 First Contact quite a bit, though it's very different to Cagliostro and Fuma. Operation Return the Treasures is also worth a watch. The story is a lot more light-hearted and I think the concept is very fun.

I'm sure Pizzaroll could chime in with some good recommendations too. There are so many Lupin specials / movies to chose from; I definitely recommend those ones though, they're my personal favourites (I have a soft spot for Walther P-38 too, but it's a much "darker" special.)

Just out of interest, any idea when it was first released?

The Light of El Cantare
Beakman's World was the superior science entertainment show.

It was the more entertaining show, but Beakman couldn't answer the tough questions. I sent him a letter when I was five asking where babies came from and never got a response.

This show has a lot of love and care put into it's minor details in addition to its major ones. It's very refreshing. ^_^

I'm definitely noticing, and not just in the visuals but the in character quirks too. You can definitely tell that the director of Toradora/Ano Hana is behind this as I definitely felt that they had the gave the same amount of attention to those particular details. Must be a penchant.

Ano Natsu 2

Onee-san!! Noooooooooo! I think I was
sadder seeing her go than he was, lol.
She was so funny. The achieved dynamic between the friends continues to be a real selling point, and the visual direction remains strong. I was surprised to see them
actually address the romantic tendencies so fast with that end, but I'm glad that I was because I feel as if that's definitely the better of ways to go about it. It's just never done, lol.
Remon's ego-heavy chess-mastering is hilarious, and was also used, interestingly, to avert from the usually blatant 'juice-drunk' that permeates these kinds of tales. Just imply that either she's
some alien herself and passed around an otherworldly drink, or is the little monster she acts to be and spiked it.

Yes, Ano Natsu is great at avoiding the really annoying pitfalls of most romcoms, it's quite enjoyable.

Chihayafuru 20

What a great episode, the best one since 13. Narratively, we go to another karuta tournament but this time it's about the characters more than the game. It reached into the emotional core of the series, the Chihaya/Arata/Taichi triangle, and did a good job at depicting what they mean for each other. Taichi in particular received good character development. Visually, it was very imaginative, taking the viewer into the mental spaces of the characters, and was well-animated. Shigeyasu Yamauchi has a great eye for visual style, and his storyboarding was beautiful:

Simple, but powerful.

The Light of El Cantare
aren't you supposed to be watching something now?

I'm multitasking for my own safety. Or do you want me to lose my mind before I can have three successive finale meltdowns?

What did Bill Nye say?

Complete silence. If the two greatest scientists of the 1990s didn't know, I suppose it remains one of life's greatest mysteries.
I think it has something to do with putting a stork in a pretty lady's cabbage patch.

This episode was way too :cajun.

Erika was more hnnnnngh than ever before, she
needs to wear her glasses more.

Next episode, more Cure Moonlight, yay! And her identity will finally be revealed. I have absolutely no idea of who it could be.

Wait, this is made by CLAMP+IG?
I'm kind of interested now. I wouldn't mind seeing this. It's like No More Heroes, only without the silly (I assume). Blood flying everywhere! MY SPLEEN!
...What?

Zeorymer is decent, I wasn't a huge fan of the ending but the same could be said of many anime that I have seen. Out of the two Macross Plus is probably the one you would want to watch first.
You could always just watch Macross Plus (OVA) and then just move on to something else! Well, that would be my advice anyway.
Dang it.
I was kind of in the mood for something corny. We'll see! I might save Macross for a new apartment celebration watch thing something I don't know.

That episode was amazingly good, was not expecting such a dramatic shift.
although it looks like it's back to normal next episode.

Dark Precure and Cure Moonlight have really cool designs, too bad they don't show up that often. :(

Lots of drama with
Yuri, it's seems her trauma stems from more than just being defeated, she and Dark Precure clearly have some kind of past with each other.

The music and animation were also a step above the usual fare. I hope there's another episode focusing on this subplot soon.

I still can't decide which of these endings is the bigger troll and shows more contempt for the audience. But hang in there, you're about to experience a weird apex of badness you'll never reach again. It's a special time.

It was part of the character announcement event. And I believe my sources because they were right about Astelia and her debut episode.
What on earth is a "character announcement event"? Can't they just let the show progress on its own instead of giving away future plot developments ahead of time?

So much delicious mecha action, one could get spoiled. All the Earth Cradle stuff has been fantastic.

Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo 3-4

Well, this was a fun watch to the end. I had a dumb smile on my face as the last two episodes played out although Ryoma as an asskicking martial artist was unexpected but cool nonetheless. It doesn't hurt I've an affinity for Shin Getter's design either but it was fabulous to see it get into action. All in all, the show is a low time investment that delivers a lot of wonderful super robot action. I may have to delve into the original series and rewatch Armageddon a bit sooner than expected.

The show carried a lot of old school charm to it.

Texas Mack gets a robot horse named Pasture King. This is somehow fitting.

Yeah, it's a little unnecessary but having two new characters with Megumi Nakajima and Hisako Kanemoto (Squid Girl) as voice actors is a good PR.

I cried at the scene that I think you're talking about when watching the anime, then again when I knew exactly what was going to happen during the game.

Although, I've cried at a few things. The main one being Clannad After Story. I must have cried through the entire 4 last episodes as I marathoned it.

Episode 14 is actually one of the best episodes of the show; it perfectly exemplifies what separates Heartcatch from other Precure shows and puts it closer to Doremi in storytelling style.
