Vampire Princess Miyu TV 26

What a surreal conclusion.

Overall, I liked this show. Its low budget is obvious, and in some episodes the direction is too weak and the art and animation too awkward to be effective. The best of them, however, have good visual storytelling, excellent sound direction, and a moody soundtrack - all of which help create the atmosphere necessary for a story of this type. The main plot was cleverly planned;
the portrayal of Chisato and Miyu's relationship gave the twist a huge impact
. The overall message
is one of despair. Chisato and the charm salesman's dialogue brought home a point which many of the stand alone episodes hinted at: the darkness in human hearts is all consuming and the struggle against it near hopeless. Miyu does live to fight another day and despite being betrayed by Chisato does not reject her destiny as I thought she would. I suppose that's all the hope we can get out of the ending.

So it looks like they're going to cover all ten chapters of this arc in three episodes. I guess that pacing will work, I just hope they can do a good job with the important scenes. They already cut some of the better parts from the first third of the story.
I don't mean to sound overly pessimistic about it; it's just that this is the one of the most important story arcs in the manga and I wish they'd put more effort into accurately adapting it.

To say it's a tad frustrating would be an understatement, especially when you see some random single chapters get blown out to fill an entire episode and than the best parts of the manga get 10 chapters compressed into 3....

Haibane Renmei 13 End

This was beautiful. It's also the first episode where I watch the ED and I just realized how great it was. Regret skipping it all this time.

So what's behind the wall and what's the deal with Haibane? Do you guys know of any popular internet theories or blog posts where I can read more about it?

The most popular theories seem to be....

that the town is some form of purgatory, and the Haibane are people who have committed suicide. The Toga are Haibane who did not move on and lost their wings.

That makes a lot of sense especially the Toga people being Haibane who lost their wings

Hmmm,
I thought it was only the Haibane with black wings that had committed suicide.

Love you too, buddy.

Also, where was all this Haibane discussion after I finished the show? Might have improved my overall opinion of it.
Can someone remind me, what was that
"Story of The Beginning of the World”
or whatever from one of the middle episodes with the librarian?

I don't think we're given enough information to determine conclusively one way or the other - the Haibane we get the most backstory for seem to have committed suicide but who knows about the rest?

The ED is good, nice calming song after the drama of the episodes... but yeah, it is a beautiful show. Certainly among anime's best.

I'd forgotten about that second part of the theory... but yes, that's the most popular one for sure.

It does make sense, yeah, and I think that theory is the most likely one as well. One other theory I've heard is that
it's a post-apocalyptic setting
, but but while that could be, I think the other one fits the best with what is seen.

Hmmm,

No, the theory is that all of them committed suicide. I forget offhand what particularly the black wings mean.

On a related note though, I think the speculation was that the dreams they have before waking up in the eggs have something to do with how they killed themselves, like, memories of how they did it or something.

Black wings just means they are sin bound. One sign of that is not remmebering their dreams.

I like that second part of the dreams being how they killed themselves.

Contrast with Madoka,
which is ultimately about hope.

The yuri shall blot out the sun.
They made up fast enough. I'm glad, the drama felt forced. Willing to bet Chris takes Tsubasa's place until she is fully healed(if she heals at all).

So finally got around to finish Negima movie

Biggest troll movie ever.

"This movie will have all the cool arcs from the manga animated with a movie budget!"

which actually means a slideshow of manga panels while the OP song plays, then some half assed anime original ending where friendship or something prevents Mars from colliding with earth.

And I really liked the Shaft made OVAs....

Someone get that fucking OP out of my head!

I remember when this show was about an awkward teenager who had to deal with his nutcase cousin and the sexual advances of his super hot aunt, the latter of which was very sorely missing from this. Still a much more fitting ending than what we originally got, I guess.

And Ryuushi is still annoying.

This show really does try to throw straights every once and while. At first, that pitching threw me off, but either as I grew accustomed to it, or they got better at structuring it, I began to see it a lot like I see the serious/silly juxtaposition of Gintama, and that's not bad at all. The humor continues to hit home, and the cast is a ton of fun, but the animation; it really could benefit from a bit of love. As is, this show's cheapness seeps from its seams.

Dead Leaves

Putting the batshit insane and ultra-stylized animation aside, I found the ridiculously unrestrained and juvenile nature of the film to be really offputing. I had the exact same problem with PSG which really stopped me from enjoying it as much as I felt I should've. Saying that, this was Sakuga as fuck and I'd much rather Imaishi stuck to doing crazy over-the-top stuff like this instead of working on trash like Black Rock Shooter.

Don't do it, even if it is true mainime:

It can't be any-more businessman wish fulfilment than that!
lol. This had already been on my mal backlog when I went to add it. Also telling me not to watch it is gonna have the exact opposite effect on me!!

Don't worry though. I'll only bother with this after I've gone through shit like the Angel Cop dub and Mad Bull 34.

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

Man that lolicon is so fucking bad.

Raika is so weird.

Land Lady is such a bitch.

Spoilers for future episodes:

I was wondering when they were going to move into a bigger house, I saw artwork from the manga where the house it seemed they were living in was a lot bigger. I wonder how he is going to afford it though. It would be cool if he could find a place with his bro and Raika or something, combine money to get a bigger place.

Also Hina gets a dog.

Another 7

So let me get this straight
The extra student each year, who is dead, is a person that died during one of the calamities the previous year. The fact that this person died before is erased from peoples memories and the data that would corroborate this fact.

I was wondering if MC was the dead one.

Also Mochizuki is HNNNNNNNNGable

Guilty Crown is just fuckery at this point.

Even the ridiculousness has dried up.

This show is the best kind of dumb. Everything is so over the top.

Super Robot Wars OG The Inspector 24

A new OP with 3 episodes to go? Guess it makes sense since it's updated to reflect the new Alteisen. What I don't get is they used Winds of Las Gias for most of Cybuster's appearances which is a darker bit of music but when he finishes one of the main antagonists in this the bust out Neppu! Shippu! Cybuster which is really lighthearted by comparison. A proper Granzon induced reversal of fortune at last too complete with Dark Prison. That was the final thing on my checklist of what I wanted from this show so I'm content even with two episodes to go!

Melody of Oblivion 18

So this episode was about relationship drama and a magical train station.
I looked away for a second too and glanced back to see this. What the hell? This isn't representative of the show at all.

Blood C 1

Let's do this. Ep wasn't bad. Looking forward to where the show goes.

Yeah, earlier in the show the nonsense was amusing (episode 12 in particular), now it's just a pain to watch.

Guilty Crown is just awful.

The entire sequence of events in this episode were just pitiful attempts at drawing a reaction.

Aw heck. I've already read the spoilers and I also finished Blood + in preparation for this, I might as join the Blood C train. Why does this feel like doubling down on suffering?

Mad Bull 34 is not shit in any way, shape, or form. That's pure entertainment distilled as an anime. Angel Cop, on the other hand, has a mix of great moments followed by really dull stretches of exposition.

Araki still defying the laws of anatomy, and wow it looks like I'll have to use spoiler tags the next time I post a blind anime sports trope, first Firehawk with the
brother dying
now me with the
two teams joining as one.

You actually finished Blood+? You've suffered quite a bit already, then...

aside from the gore (which was censored in the TV version anyway)
Blood+ was better than Blood C in every possible way

its like they said fuck it, lets just forget about story and music and characters, and animate gore, and censor the hell out of it
