You're probably right.

Nani firing is probably the biggest issue. Young serenely underperforming is bothersome but not critical.

Yeah i agree on Nani, especially since Valencia's injury. Hopefully Rooney's back tomorrow and Cleverly plays, though I think it'll be Carrick and Scholes to start.

Holy fucking shit.

Cruyff is basically gonna call all the important decisions at Chivas. It's akin to what Mourinho is doing at Real Madrid, barring coaching.

This is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

can someone tell me why/how palermo bought nocerino for 7.5m then sell him for 500k?

Because that's his real value.

Bummed to see the Juve result. Really wanted to see a third win for them over Milan this year. They better not give up the fight for the scudetto this year. If Milan win it again I'll rage.

Secret weapon right there. As soon as he gets a decent haircut.

Expectations -

Tottenham will beat Arsenal. United will beat Norwich. Stoke will beat Swansea. Liverpool will beat Cardiff. Real Madrid will beat Rayo. Atletico Madrid will beat Barca ( :'( ) Valencia will draw Sevilla. Napoli will beat Inter. Bayern will beat Schalke. Dortmund will beat Hannover.

A win today. Praise the lord!

I literally forgot what three points felt like for Chelsea. A convincing 3 points at that for a change.

Post of the thread. Letters is the hero. AVB crying at Torres goal. Sheer brilliance.

Great timing. Folks catching buses from Crewe, apparently.

Believe the train was carrying stuff rather than people.

Rumour already on Twitter that the driver was a United fan. :D

Fucking awful timing though. Seriously. People advised to travel by car to Crewe/Stafford and catch train there. OR catch a train to Manchester (Northern or TPX) and then a London train from there. Tickets from Liverpool to London WILL be accepted on those trains.

Ugh, Telegraph are saying that King isn't fit and that Walker is a doubt after an injury on Friday. Still, we won last season with Hutton and Jenas in the starting XI, so it can be done.

Norwich are tricky at home, I expect a nervy 2-1 win. Spurs & Arsenal to draw, Liverpool to score a late winner, Atletico and Barca draw, relatively narrow Madrid win, Napoli to put 3 past Inter, Stoke and Swansea to draw, Roma will draw 1-1 coming from behind, Bilbao 2-2.

What happened to Perisic anyway?, he was good the first months of the season.

I don't think there's much wrong with his attacking play. His defense behavior however, I don't like that at all. When he loses the ball, he's desperate to get the ball back. That is of course a good mentality but the problem is that he's motivated too much in these situations and makes retarded challenges. That way he got himself sent off in Bremen. And I always have a bad feeling about that when he plays.

Großkreutz is good at the moment, so no need for Perisic. However, I have no doubt that Klopp will teach him better defensive behaviour and he'll play a bigger role next season.

Expecting

De Gea
Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra
Nani, Carrick, Giggs, Young
Rooney, Welbeck

Probably swap out Raf for Smalling, seeing as it's Nani.

Offhand hope for a Pog bench appearance, perhaps a run if we massacre them. Which is, admittedly, to stack radically unlikely circumstances on top of each other, but that is whatfootballisallabout.

We should buy Lars Bender, before Bayern does so and we're all fucked. Although I'm not sure if you're allowed to play with both Benders in your team lol

I sure hope he leaves. Bring a 25-27 years old striker for backup.
Contento wants to leave too, right? I would hope the board to have common sense and drop Rafinha, so Contento could be back with the starting XI. The kid is very talented.

He could be the next Gundogan, you know. What happened to Perisic anyway?, he was good the first months of the season.

Pleaaaseeeeee. This is typical Bavarian "burning through talent"...
Similar to: Usami, Podolski, Schlaudraff, Baumjohann, Jansen...and that's just recent history..

Minutes on the pitch (outside reserve team: Regionalliga):
Petersen: 581-180 = 401 ~ that's some 4.4 full games!
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/nils-petersen/profil/spieler_42936.html

Gündogan: 1523-45 = 1478 ~ 16.5 games
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/ilkay-guendogan/profil/spieler_53622.html

Perisic: 1143 ~ 12,7 games (+ one suspension)
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/ivan-perisic/profil/spieler_42460.html

So as you can see, unlike Petersen, both Perisic & Gündogan were given a bunch of chances!
The former still needs time to adjust to the system (where everyone defends) and even had some fitness problems at the beginning of the season: the Belgian league is no Bundesliga. He is a viable option for the winger position and is in direct competition with Götze, Kuba, Großkreutz. Kuba also might leave us soon, so more oportunities for him...
The latter just doesn't seem to be fit for a deep-laying-playmaker position (for which he was intended after Sahin's departure) & no one could expect 18yo Moritz Leitner to make the leap he did and for Kehl to stay injury-free.

/edit

He was great yesterday. He also declines to extend his contract beyond 2014. Hope he readies himself for a family reunion :O

I'm still not sure about that to be honest. I think he could do it with a bit of time. After the break Klopp gave him he was pretty solid in the few matches before the winter break. The problem is if Gündogan gets that time. Leitner looks very promising and is a step ahead of Gündogan. If Leitner continues that development, it will be very hard for Gündogan. And who knows where Klopp sees Bittencourt, he could play that, too, and I could see him being a surprise next season.

Football day!

My schedule:

12:30 : Excelsior - Ajax
14:30: Arsenal - Tottenham/ PSV - Feyenoord
16:30: Bayeeeeeern - Schalke (go schalke!)
19:15: Sevilla - Valencia
21:30: Atletico - Barcelona

Going to be a tough day :D

sorry, that's bullshit! at the same time bayern brought up some exceptional talent like müller, schweini, lahm, badstuber and hummels just in the last 5 years.
yeah some people were considered as talented but didn't make it in bayern because of many reasons.

I think Bittencourt will be more of winger or a 10er, but who knows. I agree that there is still a chance for Gündogan to become a viable 6er, but maybe we should consider loaning him out (preferably to NL or France) and get someone more adept at int. games & then when Kehl resigns, Gündogan can come back in all his (new-found) glory.
I also feel like we need a better left wingback...someone who can actually engage in attacks and play crosses (unlike Schmelzer) :/
I feel like both of those transfers are not a necessity for the league, but should be considered if we want to be more successful in the CL.

lol, Hummels shouldn't be on that list - you basically disposed of him...
But so what if Schweine, Lahm and Müller (I'd have Kroos in there too) are the ones who have made it at Bayern? You still burn through a lot of talent and that's a fact and also a reason for many new talents to avoid Bayern (I'm sure that was one of the reasons for Reus to avoid Bayern).
Why even get someone like Usami, who is deemed to be the next (but better) Kagawa and then let him play for 22 + 10 + 18 = 50 minutes (league, cup, CL)..
Also all of those players who made it are homegrown, it seems like you mostly just rape the outside talent for some reason (except for the keepers and Hummels); Breno too, btw. - weird..
Only Alaba seems to deviate from the norm, but I could see him being back on the bench for good once you have better alternatives.

oh that's a fact? ok, then there's no need for a discussion.

what did you expect? usami is 19 years old and never played a single bundesliga game in his career. he plays in the second team to adjust in the league. if he stayed one more year he would have get his chance as did everyone else.

We need a more defensive minded DM when Kehl leaves, anyway. Gündogan and Leitner at the same time would be way too offensive if Bender was injured. Maybe Koch could find his spot there. The dream option would be the double Bender, though.

For LB, yeah, Schmelzer sucks going forward most of the time. I rate Löwe a bit higher in attack, he puts in some decent crosses. The only problem with him is that he's completely wasted after about 70 minutes and I can't see him becoming a starter. Not sure if I'd buy a new LB, though. Schmelzer has still time to develop, Piszczek found his balance at 25. But Schmelzer kinda confuses me, it's not like you can't practice crosses. Maybe Klopp should even give him some matches at LW in pre-season/friendlies to improve his attacking play. Schmelzer looks completely clueless about what to do in attack at times.

Tough game for us today. Norwich are a good team and they did well against us at Old Trafford. We'll have to play better than we did against Ajax to win today.

It would be a glorious day if the following happen:
Spuds beat Arsenal.
Norwich beat United and Ferguson chokes on his chewing gum.
We win the Carling Cup.

oh that's a fact? ok, then there's no need for a discussion.
Indeed :)

What did Bayern expect? At least buy him (and Petersen) and loan him out to other Bundesliga clubs, like you did with Lahm and Kroos while benching some old fucks like Van Buyten or Olic. Stop killing young careers, dammit..

(1) true, I was also thinking of Koch and hopefully L. Bender down the line.
(2) I don't really think Schmelzer will develop that much further in terms of attacking qualities and he's also not all that young anymore. I think Kloppo's just fine with him being what he is since likes him defensively & is probably fine with most of our attacks being conducted over the right wing. However, even defensively he's not that strong without Großkreutz (which becomes obvious in the national team, because Podolski & Schürle are lazy fucks compared to GK & in the CL too, when Perisic played). If we were to sell Kuba, we should invest that money into a LB, someone like Ricardo Rodriguez or I don't know at least push Löwe to be a real alternative and not just a backup for Schmelzer - maybe a real competition will make them both better..
