Well done Liverpool. If Cardiff could take penalties they'd have won, but you can't expect to win a shootout when your striker misses and Stuart Downing scores.

Bellamy would probably have been ahead of Suarez as well.

So basically, if Cardiff score more goals they win? No shit.

Taking penalties is easier said than done. If you play football in real life, you would know. Btw who's the hottie next to the malaysian owners?

If Tottenham could defend their goal and score more in the opposition half, they would have won their game vs Arselol. Well, or at least drew.

Big commiserations to Cardiff, they were excellent. Absolutely buzzing to have won it though. Any and all silverware is important to building a successful team.

Congratulations Liverpool. I think they deserved the trophy with how they played in this competition. Helps put a positive spin on the season as well. One of my friends said to me of the Liverpool performance that they essentially drew against a Championship side. But I don't think any fans care about the performance when you win a cup final.

Squeaked through against Birmingham in 2001 as well, but no one cares about that. No one really remembers how close West Ham came to taking the FA Cup in 2006. All that is remembered in the end is who won.

Congrats to Liverpool. Still not a big fan of Downing though. I think he's just plain bad. Squirtle should have been MotM.

Thank you for the decent and well thought out post. As most fans here know (or should know) playing in a final, ANY final, against ANY opposition, is fucking hard. Liverpool made it much harder than it should've been today really, but Cardiff played out of their skins, as anyone damn well would if they reached Wembley with a chance of a trophy.

Winning is winning.

It's 3am and I have a 6:30am till 6:30pm day tomorrow. I need to crawl to bed and die for 3 hours.

Missed the penalty shootout alas but sounds like it was hilarious. Good to win some silverware this season, owner must be happy aswell, bet he was impressed by Downing's performance.

I don't see that myself (the first part) I thought they were shite just Liverpool were no better, miss easy chances and lose, simple enough.

I know. I think what he was getting at is if Cardiff hadn't been so poor in the shoot-out, people would be asking serious questions of this Liverpool side, i.e. still struggling to score from open play. But as you said, all that is remembered in the end is who won.

Nice to see Dirk Kuyt win a trophy at Liverpool as well. Not sure if anyone has worked as hard as he has for that first bit of silverware.

I remember Andy Johnson had a great game for Brum in 01, then missed the decisive penalty.

I was there in '06 and you're quite right, only thing I remember is getting bruised shins from being knocked into the next row after Gerrard's screamer, Konchesky's Ronaldinho-like goal, and us lifting the cup. Can't remember much else about that final.

edit: Actually I remember coming out of the ground and shaking hands manfully with a West Ham fan standing in the street with a beer when he offered it. I remember saying that he should be proud his side played so well, and to enjoy European football. How did that go by the way? I don't remember how West Ham did in the UEFA Cup back then.

Tell me about it, we were utter shit today. The worst defensive display I have seen from us for several years. King looked past it..... *sniff*

Congrats to United, Liverpool and Arsenal!

Hard to believe Tottenham lost by this margin, they're way better than this.

Sorry about the below post :P

They have already started preparing for the next Milan match too. As Mutti put it "Palermo were massacred by the referee".
