But seriously, be careful, man. He has watched all the most recent Bleach arcs , without skipping...he's probably crazy enough to bite off both your ears...and then continue to chew.
I know, and because of that I don't understand its use on this situation. If you have that opinion... then express it, without recurring to widespread opinions as your own personal scale for mockery! I find that as a way of undervaluing people's opinion, and I think that is the first step to lose the respect others have on your own one.
Again, this is not an attack towards anyone here who said that... I simply don't find it appropriate as way for conveying an stance, that is all.
Isn't it just used when something popular is considered to be poor by someone else?
Example: A lot of people like Eureka Seven, I do not care for it; therefore, it's over rated in my opinion. Your're right, in the sense that it doesn't fill in the why? but it works as a general/vague statement.
Not liking something because of it's popularity is something entirely different and kinda stupid.
Natsume 9 is the beginning of yet another arc. I wonder what happened in the manga between now and the S3 material that everything suddenly became longer.
Ugh, it's another one of those two-part stories. The production values felt rather off and more in line with what we got in the 3rd season than the overall quality this series has been so far.
O.K., I've seen that word thrown around (as some kind of 'master keyword') the sufficient amount of times to start wondering seriously... how can something be overrated?

Well... doesn't that word implies that said work "can't be liked more than I think it should be"? Because you are the one judging what is overrated and what not, on your own, over what others think. I've always seen that as something pretty egoistic.
And maybe I don't understand well the word's etymology, and the way it is normally used.
I feel terrible for Kanna. Even though he already knows what she was trying to tell her, but of course she doesn't know that. Very intense last couple of minutes; it might also be the first time something hasn't gone according to Remon's plans but I'm sure she'll make use of it. Also, the fact that she was keeping a diagram of the love dodecahedron is amazing.

I hate Sunrise. I hate Sorachi. I really do. There's nothing left for me but disappointment now, I know it. Not even in the damn movie (and nowhere in the series proper) did Gintama actually get such work put into the art. The OPs for "Yorinuki Gintama-san," a repeat-airing, did however and, in a weird way, actually bring a new bit of perspective. It's always been said that Gin & crew lived in this mash-potatoed take on edo/Tokyo, but never before has the setting been realized in a way that really convinced/brought me in. And, honestly. I've never thought to care; quickly writing it off as Sorachi himself not caring to extend himself in that way, as the manga doesn't even do it, but damn; Just look at those! It's the setting itself. This is some major shit. I've just been awakened to how badly I'm missing out here. If I could have just an arc with that much detail...

An ethical discussion? For what it's worth, I understand what you're saying but I think this is more an issue of semantics. "Good but overrated" reads to me like "good, but not amazing or all time great."
There are series that I genuinely think are overrated, but I would not attach much praise to them. In the case of Gunbuster, ...if you watch it without context you could be excused for saying it's pretty cookie cutter, generic and dated. I certainly felt that way the first time I saw it, which was about 4 years ago. It's kind of like anything great from previous eras in the sense that once you accept it for what it is, you see just how special it was and how much attention went into making it.
Samurai Champloo 1 - 9 - Pretty good stuff so far. Dunno why it took so long for me to start this up. The
gay japanophile and the purple haze
episodes slayed me. I'm already seeing things that rubbed off when they created the masterful Michiko e Hatchin. Fun!
Pre-The Sacred Blacksmith Manglobe. R.I.P. Samurai Champloo wasn't just an amazing show, but a personal one as it's the one that brought me back to anime after a long hiatus (for better or worse~). Glad to see you're enjoying it.
near kiss, but there's trouble brewing as Ichika can't contact Rinon, who's apparently having trouble with the ship!
LOLOLOL at those film effects and dubbing! XD Tetsuro can clearly tell that
something happened between Kaito and Ichika, and requests the details. I sense a potential tension between them as Kaito can tell Tetsuro is trying to hook him and Kanna up, but he's got his heart set on Ichika. Suddenly, Kanna shows up, and Mio shows up with a haircut. Yeah, you can say it's because it's hot, we all know you're trying to seem more like Kanna.
So Remon
knows Tetsuro's sister? Ufufufu, the mystery deepens! She describes herself as eternally 17. Manami, this time, is angry over something legit (or at least I consider that legit), as Remon hands her the SECRET notebook. And it has the ENTIRE love line all nicely drawn out! XD
So as Mio splits from Kanna and Tetsuro, Kanna
states the obvious about how Kaito and esp. Mio have changed. Tetsuro skillfully feigns ignorance, but struggles under the weight of knowing where everyone stands while being unable to tell Kanna.
And what's this? After going through the film he starts the see the footage from the crash that injured him in the first place. And the ship problems are only getting worse!
It's interesting how both Mio and Tetsuro are both trying to help the one they love hook up with someone else against their personal interests. They're both pretty self-sacrificing, probably because they don't want to cause a rift in the group.
Obviously, Ichika has never been to a matsuri so she's super excited at all the attractions. Mio and Kanna insist she try the food first, sparking and awesome sparkle reaction! Seriously, Ichika is like a 4 year old with this kind of thing. XD Honestly, I'm pretty sure Kanna knows Kaito likes Ichika but is just trying her best to not see it. Remon finally shows up, and states they absolutely have to do a Test of Courage (oh you crafty little troll, you!). This must be why Remon
sought Manami's help. And wouldn't you know it, Kanna and Kaito end up in a pair, with Mio and Tetsuro ending up in the other pair, leaving Remon and Ichika to round out the contestants, but then Remon ditches Ichika to be on her own to film her reaction to nothing! Oh you little devil! Mio starts to apologize that she ended up with Tetsuro instead of Kanna (stop that!) and Tetsuro interupts, about to say something about her hair. But then Manami comes dressed as a spirit, and remarkably freaks them both out! Their scream freaks Kanna out, who holds onto Kaito, but he's obviously wondering if Ichika is alright.
... oh my. Oh my oh my OH MY!! And guess who got it all on film? Yep. XD And Kanna is about to confess to Kaito when Rinon freaks out Ichika causing her to scream. Kaito immediately dashes off to find her. Kanna, if you can't figure it out by now, you're delusional. I'm sorry, I really am. You're fantastically hnnnnnnnnnng in my book, but the fight is over.
Ichika finally learns from Rinon that the Emergency Beacon was activated, it can't be stopped, and right when she asks when the help is coming, it crashes down. The emergency drone is about to take Ichika away when Kaito appears and rescues her, dragging her away! Ichika doesn't want to drag Kaito into the mess, so she tells Kaito to run for it, as the Drone moves in on Ichika, Kaito challenges it! Good man! But then he's knocked over the railing and sent to fall to his DOOM!! NOOOOOOO!!! Rinon arrives in the knick of time to save Kaito, and he rams it into the drone!! He protects Ichika, but ends up mortally injured, again! She heals him, but just keeps apologizing over and over.

Well... yeah, now I see that I've read too much into that expression and taken the most literal of its interpretations as a guide. Sorry wonzo (and everyone)! I shouldn't have commenced this discussion in here...
I just want to see with the utmost respect the opinion of anyone, as it is a good right to have, and if the (so apparent) majority of people like a show I don't, or not in the same way... then so be it, I'm not going to blame their judgment.
I'm kinda surprised they beat around the bush for this long w/r/t Ichika being an Alien but thankfully they've left us with a couple of episodes to see the fallout of such a revelation to the rest of the cast (except maybe Remon as she seems to know more than she let's on).

I remember fondly one episode of Crayon Shin-chan in which he, Shinnosuke, was addicted to how Nanako worked that ear-picking technique... as the very fetishist boy he is, after all...
I watched it for you too, but I got too bored halfway through to keep going. It didn't match my expectations for what the film was going to be like at all.

"I just want to be a 'massive-asset dat-ass object," lol. That line came from out of nowhere, as did the majority of this surprisingly incredible ep. Given the intro, I had settled myself in for a completely silly Madao ep, but they
then cross me up with this ultimately touching tale of redemption. The scene with the final call/lifeline was so badass. Madao,
like a boss. ::Bow::
This ep is perfect addition to the tone-flopping discussion a few pages back. An example, and done masterfully here.
The entire premise of the series is solve real world problems through relating them to literary works. It sounds super hokey but it works and Tohko keeps it all together. That was just the particular "case" they worked on in the movie. Hirano ruins everything =(
