"I tried to get away but I couldn't get far
cause a man in a Lacoste repossessed my car..."

There is some line about smell, so I guess it's fitting. Love the tune though.

What are your expectations for the Dolphins next season? Seems like there's a lot of talk about how they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the division.

:jnc

p.s. - How about that episode of Justified?

I think I am two episodes behind. I'm terrible at keeping up. I usually watch when I run but I haven't had a lot of time to run this week, so it's been catching up with Luck and Eastbound when I have. Your post has inspired me to cut out early and watch though.

Also: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU SPARTY

that is all

After so many years of disappointment, I just want to be competitive on both sides. Don't even care about playoffs right now. Defensively we've been doing quite alright in the last few years. But there is only so much a D can make up, you know?

I don't even care about getting Manning or drafting a new QB, as nice as that would be, just any sense of a structured approach, especially on offense, to build something that would be nice. I want a reliable running game and a QB who can make the occasional play and doesn't fuck up on a constant basis.

Not a fan of Ireland, tbh. Not sure how much say Philbin has in the dept, but let's see, I hope for some positive influence. For next season, as long as we beat the Jets at least once and make it difficult for Brady, maybe take away a game from you guys, that would be something. Just don't start 0-7 again, I'm already drunk enough on Sundays in my local American bar...

Seasons after? Not sure, let's see how Ireland/Philbin fare. Wouldn't mind being a regular playoff contender at some point. I mean, I heard you guys even pondering getting rid of Brady and Belichick losing his magic, and this and that. I understand the frustration, but that made me feel like a poor kid hearing their rich friends complaining about the iPhone being too large for their designer denims, you feel me? First world Patriots problems. :)

Some football updates:

The Jets are looking to bring Braylon Edwares back since Plax won't be resigned:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...rce-article-1.1030331?localLinksEnabled=false

The Jets are looking for a replacement for Plaxico Burress, who won’t be re-signed when free agency begins on March 13 and said Tuesday that he would love to play for the Eagles.

Edwards, 29, battled knee and shoulder injuries before San Francisco cut him loose. The Jets would like to bring Edwards back if he’s healthy and the price is right, according to a source. It’s uncertain whether Edwards would like to play for the Jets again.

Edwards, who led the Jets with 904 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2010, was repeatedly praised by Ryan during his time with Gang Green for his ability to stretch the field and his blocking prowess.

“He had two outstanding seasons for us,” Ryan said last month. “He was an outstanding blocker.

Pats have asked Ocho to restructure his contract:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/29/pats-ask-ochocinco-to-restructure-his-contract/

Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reports, and PFT has confirmed, that the Patriots have approached Ochocinco regarding the possibility of restructuring the contract.

It’s unknown at this point whether the Patriots wish to do a “simple restructuring,” which would give him up to $2.075 million in the form of a signing bonus and drop his 2012 cap number by up to $1.0375 million, or whether the Pats want Ochocinco to roll back his base salary to a lower amount.

Many league insiders believe that the Patriots opted not to cut Ochocinco during the 2011 season because the team paid him a $6 million signing bonus upon extending his contract after the trade that sent him from Cincinnati to New England. There’s a much greater chance that, if he won’t re-do his deal, he’ll be cut before the 2012 season begins.

Some speculation that the Rams may target Morris Claiborne after trading out of the 2nd pick:

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/foot...cle_4f35bd56-1e06-5025-8a8a-679ee44df6cc.html

It's easy enough to see why the Rams would be interested, just in terms of the team's roster situation. By season's end, six of the 16 Rams players on injured reserve were cornerbacks. Among the top five cornerbacks from a year ago, Al Harris has retired, Justin King is an unrestricted free agent, and Ron Bartell (neck), Bradley Fletcher (knee) and Jerome Murphy (ankle) are coming back from season-ending injuries.

Bartell and Fletcher, minus the injuries, would give the Rams a solid set of starting cornerbacks. Bartell was cleared to play a couple of months ago after suffering a fractured neck in the 2011 season opener. Unlike Peyton Manning, Bartell didn't need surgery, but there's always uncertainty coming off neck injuries.

Dallas Cowboys ( ) - levious , h3ro , pelicansurf , Sviatoslav, Somnia, Woodchuck, Enron (?)

although I guess they don't post too much year round... and there's at least one more name with like a bunch of numbers or something that I can't remember.

I just saw a Mock draft with the Pats picking

27. Michael Brockers
31. Andre Branch
48. Harrison Smith
63. Marvin Jones

I probably would be able to live with that.

Also, did Brockers have a bad combine? I see him dropping in a lot of Mock drafts ?

Sim City 5, all aboard hype train.

A rough start going by who has posted so far this offseason, if i missed you, you clearly didn't post your allegiance enough or didn't post enough ever. So if you feel wronged shut up suck, add your name and then start posting more if you want to ping to my radar

I have been busy as fuck and have been neglecting my sports obligations.

Someone summarize what future hall of famers are going to be steelers, which players stood out at the combine (:lol so worthless), and which team is in the lead to win the offseason Superbowl (debatable which title matters more at the end of the season between this and the best regular season record) with the most free agent signings?

memberships usually grow after a good season, see texan/lions.. oh wait how does this relate to Vikings. My bad, it doesn't , must suck to suck.

The combine should be where teams are confirming what they already know about prospects not where they start to make those decisions. Teams that do flip out about combine numbers and draft the combine champs rarely have that work out in their favor (Oakland is a prime example). How's Bruce Campbell doing these days, actually?

The combine is useful in terms of seeing where certain prospects end up on the draft boards though. In some cases, it helps a prospect move up (Dontari Poe) and in others it drops the stock of the player that may have been drafted higher otherwise (Vontaze Burfict). It's only lulz-levels of worthless if you view it as some stand alone method of evaluating players. Though I'm not sure why anyone would do such a thing....

I'm throwing my name into the Packers camp. My account got approved right after the season ended. Haven't posted too much in the offseason.

We're getting stronger...

Soon we'll be ready to occupy Polan... I mean NFL-GAF...

Also where's my homie MadTown on that list?

Just wanted to add I'm very, very pleased with the Ahmad Brooks signing yesterday. Great, hard working OLB who is totally worth it, and integral to our front 7. I'm thinking Aldon Smith will take over at ROLB now, which makes me wonder what we'll do with Haralson. He's good enough to be a starter, but not over Smith.

I'd love to see him traded, as I'd rather use picks or small 1 year signings for OLB depth than pay a backup $2.5m.

New walter football mock

TOP 10
Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck'
(trade) Cleveland Browns: Robert Griffin
Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil
St. Louis Rams: Justin Blackmon
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne
Washington Redskins: Riley Reiff
Jacksonville Jaguars: Melvin Ingram
Miami Dolphins: Quinton Coples

Buffalo Bills: Courtney Upshaw, DE, Alabama

Also Hightower to steelers (pray that wont happen)

Miami needs to trade 2 first rounders and a second next year for the Rams pick. The front office sucks at picking anyway. And RG3 going to Cleveland? I don't know wether to be happy or cry for the man if that happens.

Holy shit, there is that many members of Lions gaf? Masochism must be in these days....

and the Walter Mock drafts always make me laugh. Especially in the later rounds
Although, I would secretly love Mark Baron at SS

The New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees still remain a ways apart in their efforts to produce a long-term contract, according to league sources.

If the two sides cannot make considerable progress from where they are today, the Saints will be forced to use their franchise tag on Brees by the Monday deadline.

If the Saints can get Brees signed to a long-term contract extension, they would have the flexibility to use their tag on another player. What makes this important is that the Saints have two other marquee free agents, wide receiver Marques Colston and Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks.

But as it stands right now, the team and Brees are struggling to strike the deal that many around the league expected to be done by now.

Would love for the Falcons to take a look at Carl Nicks if the Saints use the franchise tag on Brees.

I can't see the Redskins passing on Claiborne or trading down because both he and Trent Richardson are still on the board. They'd most likely trade down and get Tannehill and stockpile picks like last year.

yes, this was a good signing. some niners fans are complaining about it but maybe they don't realize how good ahmad brooks was last season. always got good pressure on the QB and was actually pretty good in coverage as well. but he was REALLY good against the run and setting the edge. people thought he couldn't duplicate what manny lawson did but not only did he match lawson, he exceeded him by a large margin in all areas.

now PLEASE get carlos rogers signed! 4 years, $30 mil should do it!

I'm still amazed by how stupid he was for not getting contacts prior to this season, lol.

Sounds more like the Redskins organization being too stupid to force him to go to one or more eye doctors and get thoroughly checked.

So how about those hands in light of the two interceptions Rogers had off Eli Manning Sunday in a 27-20 win over the New York Giants?

“They’re always the same. ... I didn’t get any surgery done to them. I’m just concentrating catching the ball. That’s about it,” says Rogers.

Clearly, Rogers had an opportunity here to mention an offseason eye exam, and did not do so. And clearly, this is the kind of thing reporters would LOVE to write stories about.

So, did it happen? I have no idea. But former teammate Phillip Daniels keeps saying it did, including during a Monday radio appearance with Chad Dukes and Danny Rouhier.

Daniels:

“It’s something I heard from several sources. The thing is, I mentioned it to several coaches way back. The first few years he was here and he was having trouble catching the ball, I think I mentioned it to Gregg Williams and I mentioned something to the training staff. I was telling them he needed to get his eyes checked, because we had a guy in Seattle named Fred Thomas who had the same situation, missing a lot of balls.

“So I suggested it and everybody just brushed it off, nobody would listen to me. So he goes to the 49ers, they get his eyes checked, and I’m hearing he’s wearing contact lenses, and that’s the reason he’s doing so well. And a lot of people say, well, why do they have to pay for Carlos Rogers to get his eyes checked? And I keep telling them, most guys don’t realize, they don’t believe that something’s wrong with them. They feel like they’re fine, my eyes are just perfect, I’m doing everything else, why would I go get my eyes checked?

“As a team, you have to really just take that guy to get them checked, to thoroughly get them checked. Several people said that’s what happened.”

I stopped at a mall to get some lunch on my way to a deposition and after some tasty Chick Fil A (I rarely eat fast food but if I do this is my go to place) I went inside a GameStop (have not been in one in a long ass time) and checked out the Vita. I was very impressed with the hardware and I could see myself wasting money on it in the future if they improve the battery and there was some way to play emulated games on it.

The only negative I saw was the price of the games but I agree with other GAFers that this might be the perfect console for sports games on the go. If I get get SNES games on it (I would pay to get them legally too) and the battery can last 5 hours I would get one.
