400 dyes dude. 400 dyes.

four. hundred. dyes. +

1,500+ dynamic events, 657 hearts, 202 skill challenges, 484 waypoints, 793 points of interest, 400 dyes, 50 minipets, 96 PvP armor sets, 50 creature codex, daily & monthly achievements, countless long term achievements, a minimum of 32 different dungeon experiences and then that's not counting the loot whoring, crafting, runes, jewels, sigils, general re playability of PvP and WvW, personal story, and ALTS HNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG

I am going to have a hard enough time selecting what utility skills I want to use let alone the traits. There really is so many damn ways you can go with this.

And people were worried there wouldn't be enough customization.

Skill suggestions for a support-oriented Engineer? I'm leaning toward pistol/shield with Med Kit, Elixir Gun, and Supply Drop, but I'm not really sure about my other two utilities.

I wonder if all of these armor sets are going to have different models. If so, I'm going out right now and sacrificing a rabid emu.

Each dungeon is supposed to have a unique-looking set for each armor type (light, Medium and Heavy), built around the theme of that dungeon. Dunno about PVP armor sets but I'd be willing to bet there's a substantial amount of unique stuff in there too.

I'm praying the same is for PvP. The minute I can, I'm zoning into WvW and not stepping out until level 80 (and not even sure I will then....PvP titles etc)

Ya know, you are making it quite hard for me to just gloss over this post. ;)

Not much left after kit choice. But no tool kit means weakness in turrets.

I actually wasn't thinking of anyone specifically, if you think I was talking about you. I actually mentioned to Ferny the other day that if you hadn't been asked to be an officer in GAFGuild, you should be; we may not agree on everything about the game so far, but it's clear you know your stuff and are passionate about it. Besides, until all the facts are in (and even then, until we actually get to play it), how GW2 shakes out is anyone's guess. I hope it's better than everyone expects.

The theme of this thread so far has been "I think A" / "No, I think B" / "Alright, we'll just have to wait."

On that note, thanks to everyone for keeping it respectful when disagreements and such have come up during the course of spiraling into the vortex of hype. It's been really civil thus far, which bodes well for everyone getting along in GAFGuild.

*that*, is not possible:)

quite looking forward to the beta impressions. there's still way too much gushing and re-spewing phrases that sound like they came from anet blog posts (which i love, but still...)

i want to hear some good stories about improvisational combat strategies and the emergent gameplay that comes from all these piece parts that they're letting you play with in collaboration with a pile of other folk.

Each dungeon has a unique weapon and armor set in them and for those pvp armors there's 32 unique sets per armor weight class.

is this true?

WTB Team Thief for ganking supply lines in WvW!

Ugh. At the Luna skills tool site, for Thief, the Traits are showing up as Necro Traits......

**Edit....Nevermind. As soon as I click on one of the Language flags, it corrected itself. Interesting.

Elementalist looks like your standard dd class, i can already see them used as nukers at WvWvsW sieges and in instances/pve groups.

Bit disappointed but i'm still preparing to roll thief. Can't let those soloers get away.

Eles look to have a lot of control beyond DD. They have access to the chill condition, and various stuns and blinds. That arc lightning could be real annoying if focused on a foe. They can also heal and remove conditions.

Yeah, no class in the game is "just DD", every class is built for control and support as well as damage. People really need to look beyond DAMAGE DAMAGE DAMAGE and focus on what you can do to keep you and your allies alive, not just how much damage you can throw out at any given second.

Stop making sense!

Why is the ability design so boring.

I... um... er....

question: does every "initiator" skill interact with every "finisher" skill?

No; only certain 'fields' can be combined with certain finishers, unless the Wiki is terribly outdated (which is possible); http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cross-profession_combo

Elementalists look more like a "Jack of all Trades" kinda class so far, with lots and lots of stuff they can throw at you, a lot of support and control stuff, but nothing so defined as the other classes. They, more than any other class (in my opinion) have more to juggle; 4 elements to shift in and out of at any given moment. Eles are gonna have to really work at their craft and know what Element to bring out and when. It's not gonna be a case like WoW where you just spam AOEs on the bridge until you're out of mana.

God damn!

Why is it so hard to get running and walking animations right. GW2 seems to suffer from a bit floaty animations there.

It's on the list;

They acknowledged this sometime last year and said they're working on it. I'd guess that they want to get all of the models absolutely finalized before making movement animation transitions. It honestly wouldn't make sense for all of their other animations to be so damn well done and then their movement transitions to be so disjointed. We'll have to see.

question: does every "initiator" skill interact with every "finisher" skill?

Here's how I think the combo system works:

Say you have a Dark field

Any Leap finisher through it will do A

Any Blast finisher through it will do B

Any Whirl finisher through it will do C

Any melee attack through it will throw out Dark damage/effects

Any projectile attack through it will shoot Dark damage/effects

We don't have that many details on how combos work other than the blog ANet put out, they said they want us to find them for ourselves and the press is no help seeing as they can't even dodge to save their lives.

Why is the ability design so boring.

This is the last thing I thought anyone would ever complain about. I literally cannot think of any other RPG - MMO or otherwise - that has so many skills that look interesting and seem unique in a very crowded genre.
