Thanks for the recommendations. I think I'm going to start High School boys and Natsume's Book of Friends. I've only watched the first season of Natsume. Am I missing out of much if I skip to the 4th season?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but can I get some opinions on what are the must watch shows this season?

Must watch? Other than Chihayafuru, I don't think anything on right now could be considered must watch. There are a handful of cool shows airing though like Rinne no Lagrange, Ano Natsu de Matteru, Another, Moretsu Pirates, and Daily Lives of Highschool Boys. There's also the second season of Milky Holmes that I personally like very much. People also seem to be big on Natsume but I have never watched that show.

I guess Gintama as well, but I don't watch that either. Toriko has been airing for a while, which is a pretty great shounen.

That's what I did, so you shouldn't have a problem. I do intend to go back to the 2nd season eventually though.

What makes Ano Natsu so fun? Based on the two episodes I watched it certainly is a very good looking show but I found the setting and characters to be absolutely loathsome and, dare I say it, generic.

That's good enough for me, although I don't hate the characters.

I've actually been watching The New Prince of Tennis D:

I watched the entire original series and enjoyed it, so hopped on the boat for this new series. I have to admit that shit was getting a bit ridiculous by the end of the first series, though. They turned tennis into some sort of ultimate world changing blood feud.

Oh, and the movie...

Ex3QuCS

Apparently, it was tennis that caused the dinosaurs to go extinct. Go figure.

Still, even through all the ridiculous aspects, I still enjoy the characters which really make the show for me.

but the original poster isn't blind. & responses like this usually quote them, so they have reason to take note.
Again, not for nothing, but that's an issue of self-control at that point. If any outside influence can effect your reception of a text, then you probably want to post here after you're finish the text and don't mind talking about it in full.

It's a well-made show, with good visual design and mostly good direction. The narrative moves at a brisk pace, especially compared to most shows of its kind, and the interaction of the characters is pleasant to watch, due to the sincerity with which their adolescent feelings are presented. Remon in particular is a fun character whose personality and actions are a nice foil to everyone else.

It is certainly following a traditional pattern, but it does so with enough skill that I'd say it's worth a watch if you have a soft spot for said pattern as I do.

And when are you going to fix this, huh?

I'm seriously dumbfounded.

"Guys can you stop deliberately ruining anime for people by referencing events in the manga that don't relate to the anime."

"But we make references to stuff all the time"

"Yeah but intent matters and in this case people are just doing it to ruin the anime for the person watching it."

"This is all just pedantics anyway"

"How is it pedantics when the end result is different and in this case it's ruining people's enjoyment?"

"But this other different thing is the same"

"How is it the same when the point of contention, the enjoyment of the original poster, is ruined in one case and not the other?"

"Well that doesn't matter because the original poster doesn't exist in my universe."

I try.
Oh, it's awfully generic, which is why people call it "Onegai Sempai" now. But - like Amagami I suppose - it doesn't take itself too seriously. It also has the genre aware audience insert to shit all over everything, which probably helps a lot too.

Black Rock Shooter 5

Wow, awesome episode.
I've liked them all, more or less, but this one takes the cake. The suffering, the pain, all so delicious, all so awesome.

For the record, when I lurked here I correctly inferred the ending of the Usagi Drop manga from the nature of how it was always addressed here, or rather, how posters
vehemently denied that it even existed, warned fans of the anime not to read the manga, etc. It's not a big leap to guess that the manga must undermine defining elements of the anime in the worst way possible for it to have achieved unspeakable status
.

I understand that some might joke about the manga in order to
soften the blow of what happened and others may think that they're trying to protect the experience of people who have only been exposed to the anime
, but I also understand why some find the behavior upsetting. Depending on how some perceive anime adaptations of manga to be entirely separate or simply different facets of the same work, what happens in the manga can have an impact on one's enjoyment of the anime. This wasn't the case for me (I never made it more than a couple of episodes into Usagi Drop but stopped watching for an entirely separate and pretty unusual reason), but I think the concerns being expressed are valid.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but can I get some opinions on what are the must watch shows this season?

Daily Lives of Highschool Boys and Rinne no Lagrange are as close as it gets, though as others have said there's nothing that's actually "must watch".

Well, I believe I did learn something about C.C. from the current Nunnally in Wonderland previews.
C.C.'s real name is so obvious now. Just think about it.
I already made(or read about) that connection, but I hadn't thought of it as being her real name. Now that you mention it, though, it is a pretty fitting name for her.

So Jman, I know we are nakama and all but......

K-On Ep.1

The story is bland, the characters all blend together in my mind, the design is terrible (They look like chipmunks), and the music was boring. With the exception to the part where they play their instruments, I didn't like what I saw at all.

Regardless, I will watch some more to see if my opinions change.

She doesn't deserve to be constantly shat on :( Where's the justice in this world?

Ichika is forced to GTFO, has to mindwipe Kaito, go straight to Kanna end.

At least that's how I see it in my head :(

I... I think I finally understand how Amibros feel.

$100 says I cry more to this than anyone did to Ano Hana if that happens, and that's not saying a lot.

For reference, I laughed a lot at the finale for that, and also the Poppo fanfic.

Thanks for your input but in the end I don't think the show is for me. Have fun, though!

That's a shame. I think it'll grow on you if you give it a few more episodes tbh.

She's in the friendzone, which means she's the loser.

Don't remind me :(

I'm just going to retcon the ending from my mind and then read a good doujin and pretend it's canon. Just like Toradora.

That something happens in the manga? It makes just as little sense as boats and whatever. Both require that you look stuff up if you actually want to "spoil" yourself.

This is not true. I have gone out of my way to avoid spoilers for the manga and yet I know, from all the snickering here, what happens. Its about not being an asshole to someone else. I don't know what else to say. We can get all semantic about what is good or bad, but I don't doubt that most of the people here understand why doing the hurr durr spoiler thing for a show like Usagi Drop would be upsetting.

Speaking of fanfics, I'm still waiting for the next chapter from the mind of our resident shipper Regulus Tera. Is he struggling with a meereenese knot of his own or something?

Guilty Crown 19

lol
There is so much disconnect in this show, so much that it almost hurts.
And fucking Haruka
lived.
That makes me pissed off.

Hades Project Zeorymer: Volume 2 of 2

Project 03:

Well, we got a shot of some satellite robot thing in space that is never brought up, discussed, or used for anything later again. And sunglasses man! Off to a promising start! Masato is still in his evil alternate, doofus personality, and he makes Miku cry when he calls her a puppet. YOU JERK. She saved you on a motorcycle. What the heck, dude? Well, now Miku gets kidnapped. Ugh, doesn't this show know that kidnapping is the most contrived plot device? Why does it happen in every episode?!

Moon C'est La Vie (mask guy) shows up to start wrecking Japan's stuff. Masato goes out to fight him, but not having Miku there appears to have a problem for him. Well, maybe the duo thing was important after all! Masato starts getting the poop beat out of him, while the bad guys torture and (nsfw ) experiment on Miku. Also, Saiga (the number one or something on the bad guy's side) is trying to start a coup or something.

Turns out, Masky is angry because he was a test tube baby too (apparently EVERYONE in this show is a test tube baby made by Albert Wesker guy), but he was given a woman's face. People make fun of him (really, just Saiga), and he gets angry.

Then, Evil Masato summons Miku, and she (nsfw) teleports, turns into a robot thing, and becomes the dimensional core something or other. What the? Well, at least her being in the mech makes sense now. If nothing else, it looks pretty freaking rad. Masato reveals his evil side is Albert Wesker! Masaki Kihara! The man who wrecked the mechs in China back in the day and stole the Masato test tube baby! WHAT IS GOING ON?! He destroys masky, Yuratei vows to put her final project into operation, and the end credits roll!

Project 04:

Hey, Yuratei actually kept her word this time! The three remaining pilots are wrecking Japan! Seems their plan is to cause the IEB (some computer thing that controls 90% of the world's technology) to detonate every nuclear weapon in the world, causing an apocalypse that Yuratei will rule over. Nope, not crazy at all!

Miku confronts Masato/aki about being bonkers, and he decides to assault her. Okay...

The three bad guy mechs go to destroy the Zeorymer because Masaki/ato refuses to pilot it, but he decides to pilot it. Here's where things get even more crazy. Apparently, he created every pilot as a test tube baby, he transferred his personality into Zeorymer so the test tube Masato would integrate it into him when he turned 15, he has another version of his personality living in someone on the Chinese side, and he figures he'll end up ruling the world, regardless of who wins. ...yeah.

The three bad guys start bickering about love and stuff, and I actually share the same reaction as Masaki for once. He types "God mode" into the pc console, and destroys all of them.

Turns out, Yuratei was the other alternate Masaki, and she's about to destroy the Erf. Masato pleads with Miku to kill him before he turns evil again, but they decide the power of love will overcome or something. They leave together to go stop Yuratei who (unaware to Masato) is totally not going to go through with her declaration, and accepts her fate. They blow her up and the end!

I'm not sure how I really feel about this show. It was crazy enough that it was entertaining, but it bogs itself down with all of the conventions that seem to plague much of mech anime and just anime in general. It wanted too much to fall instep behind what was popular that the things that were more unique or so out there that they were enjoyable became lost in the run of events.

Production seemed pretty decent throughout, music was really forgettable, voice acting seemed surprisingly strong, and the fights were (though generic) nice to see. The writing could have been something really special if they just went for it, but they stuck too closely to conventions for their own good.

It's by no means awful, but I wouldn't ever recommend putting more than $10 for the entire set.

edit: Going to watch Macross tomorrow or some time this weekend, I think. Hopefully checking in on my ME2 save files doesn't make me forget...
