Good thing we didn't pay out for missed arm tackles, players would be broke.

Not looking forward to the punishment. Especially with Payton's agent also putting up money, according to NFLN's La Confora.

Mostly agree with this, except for the fact that Payton's going to get hit alot harder than that. This is way worse than Spygate in that regard.

I also think Williams will probably be fired and blacklisted.

Loomis is also going to have something to happen as well.
 
Peter King and Washington Post both highlighting Williams. He will be the fall guy. Payton will get fine maybe light suspension and the Saints will lose a pick or two, but it will be Williams' career that is over. His son was on that staff and at least one assistant coach was a participant, and it was probably him.

So Rams will now be coordinated by Chuck Cecil (Romanowski not available I guess) or Dave McGinnis

The Washington Redskins had a bounty system for big hits on opponents under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that was similar to the one revealed by an NFL investigation of the New Orleans Saints, four players who played under Williams said Friday.

Three of the players described a coach who doled out thousands of dollars to Redskins defenders who measured up to Williams’s scoring system for rugged play, including “kill shots” that knocked opposing teams’stars out of a game.

“You got compensated more for a kill shot than you did other hits,” said one former player, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Of the four players interviewed, only Philip Daniels, a former defensive lineman, was willing to be quoted on the record. He defended Williams’s coaching. Daniels now serves as the team’s director of player development.

Players said compensation ranged from “hundreds to thousands of dollars,” with the biggest sum any player received believed to be about $8,000.

“I never took it for anything [but] just incentive to make good, hard plays,” said a current player, who requested anonymity. “But I’m pretty sure it did entice some guys to do more to a player than normal when it came to taking them out. I mean, that’s cash. Let’s just be honest about it.

“If you took the star player out, he’d hook you up a little bit.”

The Redskins declined to comment through team spokesman Tony Wyllie.

Daniels said he believed Williams began the program with money from fines collected from players for being late for meetings or practices. “Rather than pocket that money or whatever, he would re-distribute it to players who had good games or good practices.”

He said the most he ever received was $1,500 for a four-sack game against the Dallas Cowboys in 2005.

“I think it is wrong the way they’re trying to paint [Williams],” Daniels added. “He never told us to go out there and break a guy’s neck or break a guy’s leg. It was all in the context of a good, hard football.”

He acknowledged Williams’s system for awarding players’ cash featured more money for what Williams’ deemed “physical play.” “Sean Taylor made a lot,” he said of the hard-hitting safety who was killed in his Miami home in 2007.

The other three players interviewed portrayed Williams as a “coach who just took it a little too far,” in the words of one.

“He actually had a saying, ‘If you cut the snake’s head off, the body will die,’ that was his motto,” said the player. “It was made clear that he was talking about not just running backs who turned their heads the opposite way and how they would go down, but also about other stars on offense that were the best players on that team.”

again, the issue isn't the idea that a defense might try to target opposing players. it's that it would go so far as to have bonuses and have them put in writing (cba). it's also worth noting that the bounties weren't even specific, which means that there was a general incentive to hurt other players.

Regarding the Katrina posts they aren't insulting the people that suffered and continue to do so. They're making the connection, like so much else in today's society, that Katrina has been talked about to fucking death. Just like Jimmy Graham having a tough upbringing, Brady being drafted low, Rivers being a cocky bastard, Rex Ryan getting foot fungus in his mouth among others. I've learned, especially in this thread, not to take anything personally.

Katrina was a natural disaster that killed 2000 people and ruined or uprooted the lives of hundreds of thousands. Comparing that to joking about Graham having a tough upbringing or Rex Ryan's foot fetish is fucking stupid, I'm sorry. You can continue to make the jokes, I'll continue to bitch about them.

If the Browns were to sign Wallace, would they be able to give up the Falcons first round pick or do they have to use their own?

He wouldnt be worth the pick AND the money, but it'd be pretty funny if the Browns tried to give a collective FU to the Steelers.

The way I understand it if Cleveland gave up a pick they would give up the one they got from Atlanta.
 
I'm shocked any of the Saints defenders were paid for bounty hits. That would mean they'd have to make physical contact--tackle--with opposing players. I am hardly able to recall such a thing happening under Gregg Williams tenure as scumfuck of the Saints coaching staff.

Fuck you, Gregg. Fuck you. I'm not even mad about the whole bounty thing; it happens everywhere. It's the fact that you offered your players cash incentives for something other than making tackles. You don't leap frog tackling for injuring other players. Get your priorities straight, you fuck. PAY TO MAKE TACKLES. Marshawn Lynch 2010 wild card weekend. Never forget.
