The truth is, all anime is bad in some way and to some one. I've long realized that the moment you start tiering anime genres is the moment you go down the douchebag rabbit-hole.I was going to say it is, but after analyzing my top 10 anime list, it seems there's as much shounen in there than as anything else. Don't ask me how that happened.
How can I be elitist now?
Smile Precure 5

This shot would be awesome without the damn clock. Anyway, aww yea Cure Beauty bitches.
Also, why are there 7 colors on the compact if if there are only 5 precure?
Looks like my type of show. I only watched the first two episdoes of DtB so should I just continue on?
Outer senshi, clearly!
They're cousins, god damnit!I look forward to lots of yuri and handsex.
The first season yes, the second season no.
What about sub-genres? I think we can (mostly) all agree that the harem sub-genre is low tier. Then again, I suppose Sturgeon's Law applies to sub-genres too.The truth is, all anime is bad in some way and to some one. You'll get someone who will bring up UY (which I assume is a harem anyway) and even then, there are people who genuinely see merit in something "grungy" like SnO. There's going to be stand-out shows in every genre that allows you to either argue for or against it.What about sub-genres? I think we can (mostly) all agree that the harem sub-genre is mostly crap. The Wikipedia page even calls it a sub-genre.How is harem a sub-genre? It's established enough to have it's own wiki page.
I never said there was.Anyway, no, there is no such thing as a genre, sub or otherwise, that is all bad.
Well, yes. That's why I brought up Sturgeon's Law.You'll get someone who will bring up UY (which I assume is a harem anyway) and even then, there are people who genuinely see merit in something "grungy" like SnO. There's going to be stand-out shows in every genre that allows you to either argue for or against it.
For example:
Strawberry Panic = yuri is shit.
Aoi Hana = yuri is good.
The Wikipedia page even calls it a sub-genre.
Ai Yori Aoshi is not in any way "good". They took what could have been a nice slice of life romance and turned it into that. It was character stereotype after character stereotype after characterstereotype . I have no idea why Aoi could have stood by self-insert dude after all of that.
Actually looking through your list, they're all pretty bad. Isekai is good? Really?
*waves hand dismissively* That was just poor wording.A sub-genre of anime/manga. That would be not acknowledging those 2 as mediums. If you want to go that far, any genre specific to those 2 is a sub-genre.
Anime to avoid:
Nuke from orbit tier "It's the only way to be sure"
Sora no Otoshimono
Kemekko DX
Maburaho
Green Green
MM!
Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka
Inukami
Negima
Maken-ki
God Tier in harem: Infinite Stratos.
Anyway, good and above harems:
God tier
Sora no Otoshimono
Great tier
Kemekko DX
Good tier
Maburaho
Green Green
MM!
Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka
Inukami
Negima
Maken-ki
...did he just now get banned for this?
:lol
Feminist thread (probably): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35733861&postcount=192faridom didn't get banned for that, did he?
Not sure if serious.
Sora no Otoshimono is a worthy suggestion, but everything else...yikes. Maybe harem is the inherently shit genre.
Green Green is an abomination, a verruca on the foot of Japanese animation.
Most likely not, but it's still hilarious nonetheless.faridom didn't get banned for that, did he?

I recently watched a pretty fun harem show: Seto no Hanayome. Well, it's incredibly stupid (not to mention damn ugly) and borderline harem parody, but quite funny. It's also one of the few harem shows I've seen that actually has an ending.
P4's pretty god-tier with the haremjinx.
It's good but it won't convince those who aren't already harem fans that it is.Isekai is good? Really?
Or we could just agree all mindless entertainment is equally bad.As stated, I was struggling to think of any to justify the point that no genre is inherently bad.
If you're not really interested in that genre, then I could see that.
If only you were an young, optimistic girl with the potential to become a magical girl, then maybe you wouldn't be such a cynic. Now, do I have a proposal for you as any lovingly, trustworthy mascot!I've always had interest in the genre.
What I mean is, I don't really trust Candy in Smile PreCure! yet, haha.
Or we could just agree all mindless entertainment is equally bad and doing tiers is just a sign of being a pretentious bastard.
Which my point still stands regardless of it being specific to animu.Perhaps. What people are discussing though is the quality of harems relative to Japanese animation in general.
