The problem with pure white plastic is that it often yellows.

There are dozens and dozens of cases of plastic toys, for instance, that yellow after a while.

It's hard now to find white Sega Saturns, for instance, that haven't yellowed. (Probably has to do with heavy Japanese smoking and pollution as much as anything else.)

I've got a Gundam figure -- eZ8 -- that's turned yellow in spite of being in the original packaging, and it hasn't been exposed to heavy sunlight, either. (Nor do I smoke, either...)

As far as playing on plexi is concerned -- in answer to michaelius --, it's not that uncomfortable to play on top of.

It's easier to clean finger- and palm-prints and sweat off plexi than it would be to repair original artwork that's been worn off by repeated rubbing and exposure to sweat for sure! Plexi preserves and protects artwork very well...

Not much you can do for buttons getting scratched and their finishes dulled, though. That just happens with use. You can try to refinish them by sanding with 600grit sandpaper and then spraying with 2-3 coats of gloss (allow a few days minimum to dry if not a week or two!) but I think most players probably replace worn buttons with new copies of the same color buttons after they get worn out if they really care. Lots of people just stick with the buttons and swap out the microswatches when those go bad.

(Not much you can do with limited edition buttons, though. Stick with your original Seimitsu Pearls unless you can find a vendor that has equivalent color alternates. At least Rollies makes white Pearls for people who are desperate for replacements of the Seimitsu white Pearls!)

Microswitches are expensive enough, though (33% of the cost of a button!), that people will often throw away the whole button and just buy a whole new replacement button.

How's the Street Fighter IV Round 2 sticks compared to the new street fighter x tekken sticks? Newegg has the Round 2 for $124.99 and I was wondering if that is worth it compared to the $160.00 for the sf x tekken sticks.

Same arcade-spec parts but the R2 case is a bit heavier

Does the shaft protector do much protection? I like the chrome look with it off.
What do you mean by "making the unit straight" though?
Well, the holes on the mounting plate are large and there's no barrier. It's possible to tighten the joystick down in slight variances. I think I got it as straight as I can, but I was wondering if someone figured out a good method.

Damn. My friends at Iron Galaxy Studios hooked it up ! :O

I've got a question concerning my R2 TE fight stick.. I was playing against my friend earlier tonight when for the first time since I bought it about 6 months ago the ball top just un-screwed itself. Now when I try to screw it back it just won't "stick" there or whatever but keeps loosening itself.. Is this a fault with the stick in anyway or is there something easy I can do to fix it?

The screw will just spin unless you apply pressure. Open your stick and hold the screw in the middle in place with a screwdriver while you screw the ball top back into place. The stick in the picture is a Seimitsu stick in a SE case, but the Sanwa should look similar.

Doesn't opening the case void the warranty though? If so I think I'd be better off returning it to the store I got it from since it's still covered.

Do you have a good pair of needle nose pliers? You can just grip the shaft with it to keep the lever from spinning while screwing the top back on. You might scratch the shaft a little, but you won't have to open the case this way.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and since it's a TE... you'd have to take the shaft cover off to put the ball back on, no real way around it without opening the case.

From NCS:

Hi Jack, the Fighting Edge sticks are Horistore exclusive so we will probably not import them due to the high costs involved with purchasing and importing exclusive items at this time. Thanks for checking with us.

;-;

Ok, thanks for the information. Now I'm certain I'm just going to use the warranty to get a new one... With a bit of luck I might even be able to upgrade myself to one of those new SFxT sticks :)

So...what is the main difference between the Qanba Q4 and the Fusion? I see a handle, the price, and the turbo working on PS3 only on one of them, and minor button layout differences. Is it worth the extra 40 bucks to get a Fusion?

They have not offered that many sticks recently. I don't think it is cost-effective for them any more. The last three NCS has offered were the red Arcana, the Hatsune Miku, and the shot-down Radiant Silvergun.

The Project DIVA controller wasn't a stick... and NCS turned out a lot cheaper than having someone directly ordering from Hori and paying them with PayPal =/

Still waiting to hear back from Play-Asia.

Yeah, not a stick. I just call them all that, myself.

I put an order request at CD Japan for all three of the new sticks and they let me order them after providing a link. Honestly, don't know if they will come through but I ordered the Gundam Stick through them so we will see if they get it at the end of the month.

All three sticks, the two variants of the Fighting Edge and the V5FS came out to about $900 delivered...kinda pricey but not too bad considering the $250 price point of the Fighting Edges.

My gut tells me that the Fighting Edges are going to be eventually offered on the Hori USA store. Just a hunch.

I dropped Hori US an email too, but it took them a week to respond to me last time I asked them something. I wouldn't be surprised if they released it here in some fashion either, but I worry that the market is getting a little saturated.

Right now, I'm just trying to convince myself I don't need an 8th arcade stick.

Can never have too many!

I'll email Hori USA as well. Though they do have a rep in the SRK thread...but he/she kinda gives canned answers. Things Hori Store USA still needs to to (IMO):

1) Release the VX-SE stateside.
2) ReRelease the EX-SE for shmuppers
3) ReRelease the VLXs (still need a 360 version, boo)
4) ReRelease the HRAP2 SA to americans.

I'd buy this for aesthetics alone, even though I already threw an LS-56-01 and PS-14-K-N buttons in my VX-SA.

which by the way, if anyone remembers how I had issues with lizardlick...I ended up cancelling my order via paypal, reordered the same parts from akihabarashop, and received my parts within 3 weeks.

I'm not sure if people are still having issues with lizardlick, but akihabarashop is awesome. I was a first time customer, and now I will continue to buy from them and paradise.

wow, I really want that :(

Yeah, I'm usually not a big fan of licensed / character art work. But for some reason the whole "artwork under the clear buttons" look makes it all much classier to me. Sorta makes it a fully finished product as opposed to just slapping artwork on a stick.

Not at ALL the most glamorous of stick-arts, but in an effort to make my Tatsunoko stick matchy-matchy with the rest of my Wii accessories I threw this together.

I'm not totally done with it and that bottom part looks a little lonely. I may try to stick some kind of simple design element in there, just to see how it looks.

Beyond that, I just need to get it printed. I may try a lami-label again, but I hate doing those. I hate how rough around the edges they always are, no matter how careful I am. I would just hate to spend an arm and a leg for printing from Game On Graphx and then screw something up.

You might want to move the wii logo down to th bottom left. I think that would alleviate the concern about its "barren" design.

Yeah, and then you could add a small Nintendo logo in grey at the stop where the Wii logo is now, which would be classy.

GodsGarden is previewing the new Hori stick with Sako.

One feature of the Fighting Edge is that start and select buttons are touch panel.

iy57a.png

It also has hardware-side button assignment, with all 8 buttons on the PS3 version, only 4 on the 360 one (LB/LT/RB/RT). Sako uses it so he can plink jabs with Select/Back, without having to do any sort of re-wiring.

Yes, HORI USA will be selling the sticks.

Wow, they said this on the stream?

Really torn now... I would have ordered the 360 version and dual modded but it's pretty silly the 360 version can't reprogram all of the buttons. I guess I have enough 360 sticks anyway...

Also, can I get the original photo from your avatar? It's pretty adorable.

Yep. It's a photo of Karaface and Kayo Police (in case you didn't know).

Did they say anything about Hori USA offering the VF5FS sticks?

They said that more info for the sticks would be coming via HORI USA, but it's pretty safe to assume both sticks will be available here. Production is limited, however, at least on the Fighting Edge.

Anyone know the USB cable length of the Virtua Stick High Grade??

Anyone want to sell VSHG ? I'm looking for a mint one with box, thanks :)

Finally got my SFXTK V.S. Edition in my hands. This thing is a beast, but I like the size. It's my first stick, so it's certainly a learning experience. I started off in SFXTK training mode, but after a while decided to switch over to AE. Plinking is easy-peasy; I was hitting zero-frames with consistency. Using the lever in conjunction with the buttons however will take some time. Didn't take too long to get used to the quarter-circle motion, but I found I hit the buttons too early when doing special moves. I don't know whether it was speeding up my lever motions or delaying my presses, but towards the end of my practice I was getting consistent full Rekka, at least from the 2P side. 1P side was somewhat consistent, but will still need some work.

As for modifications, I'm not too worried about that now. Though I don't really have a basis for comparison, the stick as is feels good to me. I still need to test it in an actual match.

And I do have to say, slapping buttons feels so good. It's therapeutic.

If anyone could give me some help this is my first attempt at custom art. my stick is a madcatz te round 1 with red sfiv art. white sides/buttons.

also can someone tell me where yall go to get the art printed ? and do you keep it as a psd file? what should i save it as. kind of paper to print on. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

UK/EU/Australian peeps I just bit on Soul Calibur 5 and the Madcatz SC5 fightstick for £119.95 (using the 10 bucks off code: ZAVVISAVER)

http://www.zavvi.com/games/platform...ment-edition-arcade-fight-stick/10586834.html

Amounted to around AUD 178 shipped including the game which seemed like a good deal. This is my first fightstick
not counting my MK tournament edition, that thing is comfy but impractical for anything other than MK
so I'm pretty excited! :D

How bizarre. My TE stick LT and RT just died on me in the middle of SFxT training. Restarting the game and unplugging the stick brought them back.

Amazing deal. Congrats!

Bought a SFxT Pro from Amazon for AU$163 shipped.

Never saw the SC stick, it looks so nice :I

Posted this to the Gaming Setup 2012 thread, a new pic to celebrate Street Fighter x Tekken launch weekend, my arcade stick setup:
What is that, an XBR4/5?

I have one. It broke. Be prepared for the so called "tab bond issue" on your set as well :'(
