Peyton's landing spot could be interesting. Taking it by division:
NFC East - The Skins are the only real contender here, but I don't see Peyton wanting to go head-to-head with his brother twice each year.
NFC North - Assuming he wants to win one more SB, the only team that needs a QB here is the Vikes and the competition in the division isn't suitable for a shot at the SB real quick. I'd say no.
NFC South - Same problem as the North. The Bucs are the only team that would consider needing a QB, but with the Saints and Falcons being perennial playoff teams, it's gonna be tough to get the Bucs a short road to the postseason.
NFC West - intriguing... I agree that if the 9ers bailed on Smith and went after Manning that they'd become instant top tier contenders. The question is whether Harbaugh and Manning could co-exist. Peyton is used to having mild-mannered coaches that he can run roughshod over. Harbaugh could end PeyPey's career with one handshake. The Cards are an option but only if they want to bail on Kolb quickly. Seattle also an option as they need a QB. The question is whether Sea or AZ become SB contenders with him.
AFC East - I think the Jets are in the running if they decide to cut Sanchize. There's something to be said about being close to family, and having both Mannings in NY would be a media frenzy. Miami is obviously also in the running. In either case, the league wins because Peyton goes up against Brady twice each year.
AFC North - Nothing here, despite Larry's wishes. Everyone is either set at QB or they're the Browns.
AFC West - Again intriguing. A weak-ass division. SD and Oak are set at QB, but both KC and Denver could make moves to get Manning. Either team becomes instant division contenders with him at QB given the rest of the division's weakness.
AFC South - The real dark horse is here: Tennessee. I think someone mentioned this as how it was going to go down. They can cut Hasselback. Locker is in a rookie contract that doesn't eat a lot of cap space so he can sit for 3 years or so. You've got CJ. You have a couple of receivers. They sort of lurked at the edge of postseason competitiveness all season under a new coach. Manning obviously has ties to Tennessee. He makes them an instant contender vs. Houston for the division.
So... contenders: NYJ, Mia, Sea, SF, AZ, Den, KC and Tenn. Everyone keeps screaming Miami and I guess it could go that way. The shortest road to the playoffs is supplanting Tiny Hands in SF. But I just would not be surprised to see him land in Tennessee or in NY if those teams decided to throw their current QB under the bus.
