NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

Let's make up and hate the Bears together.

I think even on my wedding day the thought "man I really can't stand the Bears" crossed my mind...

Also, I understand that under most normal circumstances, posting a picture of a tip is a bad idea but this only makes Peyton Manning look awesome. I seriously doubt he would care.

it's not whether or not he would care, but whether or not the restaurant can trust the employee not to post stuff like this publicly.

from my experience, most of the waitstaff are thieves and drug addicts (although maybe "user" would be a more appropriate word).

Ha, yeah it's true.

But that's why people who aren't either of those get a real job eventually.

I'm not sure about a high end establishment though...Applebees was definitely a den of drugs and debauchery.

I don't think he'd want to play under Shanahan anyway.

Plus Miami has an elite left tackle ready and waiting.

but why theives?

when you have that high of a level of employee turnover rate you have nearly zero loyalty between employer and employee. It creates an atmosphere of distrust and resentment, leading to both a higher rate of fraud and a higher rate of employee mistreatment.

Also the temptation is there, a guy making 10 or less an hour in retail has access to countless amounts of credit card information, even more so for waitstaff that operate outside of a cash register.

Ahh, gotcha. Thanks.

Any team that wants to consider having a QB learn under Manning should just take themselves out of the picture right away based on some of the stories you hear about him. All the stories out there makes it seem like he has a very antagonistic relationship with the other QBs on the team. I know I saw one story about his days at Tennessee where he was locking other quarterbacks out of the facility so he was the only one to watch film or just generally being deceptive around them. If he was a good player to mentor under you would think the bums the Colts trotted out last season would have been at least competent. He is just too competitive for that kind of role.

Todd Helton should have kicked his ass.

But I agree he's not going to do any favors for a young QB, and probably wouldn't sign on a team to begin with.

I always laugh when people use the old "old QB can teach the young QB" scenario. That's the QB coach and offensive coordinator's job. I don't see why competitive guys like Manning or Favre would want to take reps and time out of their own preparation to teach some young kid that is being groomed to take their job.

It worked out pretty well for Young and Rodgers. The presence of them in even just the film room teaches them a bunch.

Both of those guys were sneaky bastards. You can never ever trust a back up qb. Their whole life involves around stealing someone else's job. In this the jobs of two legends.

I won't lie. I also want Joe Flacco to be a Raven for a looooooooong time.

When I look at the Steelers we just need to get a couple of good defensive players in the draft and we can be pretty damn good next year.

Last year was the Ravens year to contend for the Superbowl. Now that they chocked and fucked it up it is obviously the Steelers turn.

We need to get another corner or two, a backup center (Legs is great backup but he can't do center), a solution on the left side of the o-line, a kicker, and a linebacker. If we can fill those holes we will be pretty good on both sides of the ball. Most of them are not that hard to fill in the draft and hopefully the guys can step in and contribute right away.

Fantasy time. If we can get a tall athletic TE our offense goes to another level and will be beastly in the RZ. And if Timmons takes that next step we will be pretty damn good in the middle of the field (which has normally been a weakness). That should improve anyways by getting rid of Farrior and Foote, but if we can can replace those guys with someone athletic who can also read and react to the offense our defense can be special again.

you're sleep deprived, being the father of young twins. So this one time, I will excuse you from mistakenly lumping Favre and Montana into the same category.

A public rebuke sucks for the Skins, but they should be looking for a QB in the draft. Shanny is crafty, and drafting Tannehill buys him time. He'll need to sit for a year, so RGIIIv1 can lead the team next year and take the youngster under his wing

I'm surprised with all the Chiefs talk considering that not too long ago we reading about Pioli being a complete psychopath. Why would Manning want to walk into that mess? They have talent sure, but the organization seems a bit in disarray.

Peyton is used to having a HC he can dominate, so Romeo falls right in that mess. I still remember how exasperated Dungy would look when he would send in the punting unit on 4th and 3 and PeyPey would wave them back.

If the Rams truly want 3 firsts and don't back down they wont be getting any lucrative deals from teams. They'll probably just move on to Vikings.

The thing about this multiple first is a little misleading. They don't want 3 firsts from CLE. But from WAS? Since they could only offer a 1st this year, you have to convert any subsequent year pick to a present day value. So the skins giving up 3 #1s is a present day value of a 1-2-3 this year. Is that outrageous? I don't thinks so

I'm not really worried about the Rams getting a deal done with someone. Shanny can't sell another year of Rexy. CLE can't sell another year of McCoy. The Rams would like to have it done before FA just b/c they will know better on what to pursue. And if they keep the pick, then I'm cool with drafting Kalil

Except there is something to be said about building your team overtime and seeing what your needs are each season. I don't think 3 #1s necessarily equals a 1-2-3 this year if you're not expecting to win right now, which is what your expectations should be with a rookie QB. I would argue that 2 #1s is more equal to a 1-2-3. Even then I'm not sure because next years 1st rounder for a team that picks RG3 is still likely going to be a really good pick because of QB transition.

Washington is actually only giving up 2 firsts in the above scenario since they're trading up. You swap the '12 1st round selection with the Rams, and give up 2 picks to do it. Everyone does it, and maybe my brain it wired differently, but I see it as giving up 2 not 3 since you're swapping one of the selections.

something something drafting a 29 year qb or anything in the first being pretty damn stupid.

I think he can play, doesn't have a lot of mileage, but if some team does do it and it works out short term, this dude may get one rookie contract and then what? Franchise him a couple of times and send him on his way.

What on God's green earth is this. Is he trying to woo the Tebow demographic?

So any chance at all of Manning landing in San Fran? Or is he refusing to play in the NFC completely?
Seems like Harbaugh is committed to Smith, and the AFC would be a much easier road for him in the playoffs. I enjoy looking forward to all the articles next season blaming Smith once the 49ers regress to a 9 win team and a more realistic turnover ratio.

He's not opposed to the NFC completely (although Schefter said he'd rather stay in the AFC if possible), but I doubt we are reaching out to him. He has, however, rebuked the Redskins.

Philip Rivers has always been hardcore religious. He was already married while in college with his lifelong girlfriend, and they have a ton of children.
