Dolphins aren't gonna get RGIII, Peyton, or Flynn
Just shoot me now
Ross Trucker with a solid if sort of short sighted point:
The Redskins organization and fans who have to endure another 5 years of mediocrity because they don't have any draft picks to build a team with.
Who's the young elite guy replacing Fletcher when he retires/leaves in FA? Who's the young elite safety to take Landry's place? DeAngelo's place? Do we have more depth along the O-line to protect RG3? Who's our WRs? Cooley is done, who's coming up behind Davis?Live wire,
The Skins have an average age of 26 years old. They were just recently the oldest team in the league. Old age isn't an issue.

Trade will not change Redskins plans in pursuing Peyton Manning. Intend to talk with and try to sign him, even if considered a longshot.
Draft picks are "overvalued" remember?LiveWire said:Who's the young elite guy replacing Fletcher when he retires/leaves in FA? Who's the young elite safety to take Landry's place? DeAngelo's place? Huh?
I'd rather have Rex for another year, go 2-14 and get the #1 or #2 pick and getting a top QB that way. At least we're only out 1 pick. This is the truth. You can shore up roster spots through free agency and later parts of the draft.
Losing three draft picks spread out over a period of three years hurts but it's not some sort of death knell.
Having another season where Rex Grossman is your starting QB with no long term QB you like in place after that is certainly a death knell.

Just saw the Redskins-Rams news. What a fucking Joke. No player, especially a rookie QB (of whom I'm skeptical of anyway) is worth mortgaging your teams future. The Redskins already have alot of needs, and now they likely won't be able to address them. Enjoy the bottom of the barrel for years and years Washington
The Eli trade handed one additional first, a third and a fifth rounder. Not exactly two additional firsts and and a second rounder. The Giants were also in a position where if they didn't pull off the trade they wanted, they would have had to "settle" for Phillip Rivers or could pick Roofles later. Oh and teams wanted Osi as part of the deal as well. Acorsi told them to fuck off.SonnyBoy said:Hey Wellie, after two Super Bowl wins, do you give a damn about the draft picks lost to acquire Eli?

if 3 rookie players would be the difference between success and "bottom of the barrel" for the foreseeable future then the team would have sucked anyway. I would rather take the shot at getting a franchise QB. Yes, we gave up a lot, but at the end of the day it's 3 players. 3 potential ROOKIE players in the next 3 years.

2, 4, still too much. I'm happy for the kid, he seems like a good guy with potential, but he just got a shitload more pressure dumped on his shoulders today.
It's amazing how little the Jets gave up to move into the top 5 to Sanchez.
Now we know why....hahahaha
It is a 3-year extension beyond the 2 years he already had. Source says the 3 Year Extension is for $40.5M, $13.5M per year.
The money is guaranteed for 2012 and 2013 = $27 million.
He has an additional $10M in potential escalation so the maximum value of the 3 new years is $50.5M and over the whole deal is $68.25M.
This basically guarantees Sanchez is the starting QB for the next two years at least.
Eli Manning has four years, $55.9 million (in salaries) left on his current contract. Mark Sanchez newly extended contract will reportedly pay him $58.25 million over the next five years. ... Discuss amongst yourselves. #NYG
And this is all vs. the unlikeliness of RGIII turning into a franchise QB. So you are stuck with a bust at QB with no way to add 1st round talent to your roster in the draft for 3 years. I think it was a completely foolish move. If I'm wrong and RGIII turns out to be a stud and the Redskins make some great FA moves, I will eat crow for sure. But I'm 99% positive I won't have to and Griffin will have 3 different head coaches in a 4 year span

More breakdown of the Sachez deal:
I just don't.....I mean....huh? I guess this is apology money for going after Peyton and considering NFL contracts mean fuck all anyway but....the guaranteed money!!
By comparison:
Mike Wallace would be a great pick up for the Skins.
He's the perfect weapon for RGIII.
There is no place in the National Football League, or any sport played at any level, for players to conspire, to be coerced, or to be incentivized to intentionally injure another player, Brees writes. I did not participate in any Bounty program, nor did I have any knowledge relating to its real existence. I have spent the last several years as an Executive Committee Member of the NFLPA making health and safety a priority and I am proud of the advancements weve made and will continue to make.
As a leader of our football team, I feel comfortable in stating that I know well the integrity of our organization from the ownership level, to management, our head coach, and the players on our team, Brees writes. We, as Saints players, pride ourselves on playing this game with honor and hold ourselves to a very high standard. We also share a great sense of responsibility to our community and to each other, a strong belief in our purpose, a resiliency to overcome adversity and a work ethic and commitment to leave things better than we found them.
To our fans, please reserve judgment until the investigation is complete and the facts in their entirety are known, Brees concludes. We are all working diligently to find the truth in this matter and if the facts prove there was improper behavior, we will hold ourselves accountable. Until that time, we will stand together and remain united as an organization.
of course it's not guaranteed that RG3 won't be a bust, but neither are those future picks. I'd say Griffin is pretty close to a "sure thing" and you can't say that about who you will be drafting 2 years from now. He's grading out super high compared the other QBs that have come out in the last 5 years.
With what 1st round pick? He has a 1st round tender on him.
I honestly hope the best for Griffin and think he has tremendous upside and has his head in the right place. But I just don't think he will be a great NFL qb. I really hope I'm wrong, but we'll see!
So do I. I'm just saying, after the last 15 years of being a Redskin fan, with only 1 or 2 years to really be excited about, I'm okay with the team taking a big swing and trying to hit a home run.
Hopefully Elway and Fox take him to Casa Bonita tomorrow so that he never makes it to Arizona.Manning staying overnight in DEN. No word whether he'll make it to AZ
