NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

Would be better to get the rematch this year in the Superbowl with both teams and their qb's healthy!

I still think we beat you even with gimp Ben if it weren't for your asshole kicker! If we are not allowed to hit people anymore Goodell should step in and stop that nonsense too! From now on the center from either team has to punt the ball.

it would also be nice if ben had sex with women when it wasn't rape but i guess that isn't possible!

and you guys could've had a thousand possessions in that game and you wouldn't have gotten into the endzone. your line got dominated on both sides of the ball!

We moved the pretty decently for the first 3 quarters but once we got to the 35 yard line (and usually because of your shithead Pinter we have to go like 75 yards to get there) we would shit the bed.

We were injured as fuck going into that game, but I don't see that as bad luck. We are an old ass team and those teams break down faster than Alex in crunch time.

Hopefully we get another shot before 4 years. By then Ben will over the hill and Alex will be out of the league. Won't be as fun...

Finally the kids are sleep and I get to use my freaking Macbook Pro instead of that shitty iPhone to get out my thoughts!

FMT. Don't let that one of success go to your head. I am glad the Niners lost because they would have gotten crushed by the Pats in the Superbowl, but if your team or qb was a champion your team would have beaten the Giants. That game was there for the taking and Alexis' hands were just too fucking small to reach out and grab the glory. That is the different between Ben and Alex. Alex is a polite little turd who says all the right things, but he doesn't have the mentality of a winner. When Ben wants something he just goes out and takes it. Even when we lost to the Broncos when we needed a score to send the game to OT Ben delivered, on gimped ankle and all.

And my team is old as fuck. You caught us at the perfect time. If we had played you a few weeks earlier we would have handled you. In the end it was just a meaningless regular season game which meant a lot more to the Niners then it would have to the Steelers.

I expect the Steelers to kick ass in the draft, retain our core guys, and field a younger group on offense and defense that is ready to contend next year. For the Niners I see a regression and you crying in November that you should have gotten Peyton Manning.

FUUUU, my son is waking up. And I was just getting started!

sorry but didn't you hear? our defense is actually one of the worst in the NFL but only looks good because of our special teams. our offense is "putrid" and our coaching staff got lucky last year

WTF are you talking about? I said your defense was legit and that your ST really helps it. It's not rocket science that it's far easier to stop a team from scoring when they start at their 5 yd line as opposed to 35. In no way did I convey your D isn't good, that'd be ridiculous. Your offense is indeed putrid, though.

You can't defeat the Father (Peyton), the Son (Tebow), and the Holy Spirit (Elway). The holy trinity is uniting in Denver.

It's more like sacrificing the son for the sins of the Fox.

As someone who started watching football again thanks to the nba lockout and tebow controversy, i'd like to see Peyton come to Denver and Tebow go somewhere far away from a Fox offense.

Tebow is cheap. 815k for the year is a steal, and he's signed for 3 years. No real good reason to get rid of him unless we get a decent offer. I highly doubt we hear Tebow chants if Manning is playing for us. Those people would likely be laughed out of the stadium. Likewise it's a bit different to be cheering for Tebow when it's Orton, Manning is a different story.

It was a season of fantasy and disbelief. Lions, texans and some schmuck named Tebow all made the playoffs. Hard to remember, I'm sure.

Must feel awful that even in a year when abject shit made the playoffs your team still swirled around the drain.

No one thought the Vikings were going to be good. Your team on the other hand was being considered one of the greatest of all time after Thanksgiving before the wheels fell off.

Which is worse? Who hurt more in January? Having been a fan of a 15-1 team as well I think your pain was worse. Though that still doesn't excuse what you did to your father in law...

Remember when you lost to Tebow?

I'm guessing Slo. I had a Super Bowl victory over a over hyped old ass garbage team on its last legs to celebrate.

Better go get the kid, I think your wife is calling you. Chop chop!

I like Oberon. HopSlam is a double IPA, so basically a supercharged Two Hearted, which is pretty much their flagship beer.

You and I are now best friends.

I tried it because someone recommended it in this thread (goldlion?). It's pricey but it's pretty damn good. I bought a few six packs in case we don't land Manning. I'll then get drunk and scold my wife and kids, and rip down my Elway poster.

Never had it.

I like Oberon though. Bells is solid. K-Zoo what what.

Oberon's good, I like Two-Hearted as well. After trying all these different beers, I still love High Life, lol.

1. alex smith won more playoff games than roofles this year
2. alex smith didn't lose the nfc title game, kyle williams did.... twice.
3. the 49ers/steelers game was VERY meaningful to both teams. the winner of that game would ultimately get a bye week. you think the steelers couldn't have used that bye week to get health and avoid getting embarrassed by tebow?
4. niners will be fine whether we roll with alex, kap, tolzien or manning! steelers are just getting older and older with a lot of in-fighting from the front office to the coaching staff to the players

Can't wait until Aaron Rodgers tweets about the Badgers getting smashed.

@AaronRodgers12
"Bo Ryan's doing a great job getting this team lubed up for its ass-raping every week"

Elway, Xanders, Fox, Bowlen, and entire PR staff at Dove Valley. Doesn't seem normal for a Saturday. Is something brewing?

Of course they're making all the stops in order to get Manning, as any team in their position would.

I doubt they're getting to the nitty gritty of contract talk. Peyton's going to be very thorough and make sure he visits all his suitors before he's ready to get serious with one of them.

That would be the safe bet. Even with that said, rumor going around that his trip to AZ has been cancelled. Lots of rumors going around on twitter. Could be bullshit, but where there is smoke there is usually fire.

R-r-r-ricky R-r-r-rubio out for the season w/ a torn ACL.

Damn, a couple of guys at work were excited about the T-Wolves for the first time in a long time.

Niners are fucking stupid for not going after Peyton. Get him and you are favorites to get to the Super Bowl. Alex Smith had his fluke year. You can't rest on that.

When reflecting on last years draft, it's amazing the character assassination that took place last season regarding Newton.

RG handles himself so well, feel he's getting a pass in certain aspects of his game. Newton, by far, was a better pocket QB, better runner, and better decision maker when it came down to throwing or running.

RG looks to throw it, which causes him to drift in the pocket, sometimes going backwards. If the throw wasn't there Newton would take off, and go between the tackles, great vision as runner.

Both guys have rifles but RG has a superior deepball, scary how good he is when he goes deep.

Edit: Newton was destroyed for essentially being a douchebag.

I enjoy it. I'd rather be back in Colorado/Wyoming in the mountains, but it's nice quiet place outside of the oil boom.

Believe it or not I'd like to visit that area of the country. It's either NY or Europe, all I really know.

gotta love it, this board was the same with Newton last year.

LOLOLOL JAMARCUS 2.0

shitbin.

HAHA

I felt like I was one of the few that defended him, made it seem like I was hedging my bets in case the Bills took him, which wasn't the case.

One other note on RG, his OL was dog shit, I mean flat out terrible. Against A&M, they were running 4 man stunts up front and they couldn't block it with 5, pathetic. May be a reason why RG was shaky back there, had turds blocking for him.

Won't matter in Washington's system, they won't be blocking with 5 as often, everything is off the run game and deep shots off PA, half field reads on roll outs. Big play city if they get a receiver to complement what's normally a good running attack. Deep RB draft this year too.

and yet, despite people rabbling that newton was unfairly criticized (which he wasn't) he was still taken #1. people act like newton had no baggage and never did anything wrong. of course in hindsight it's easy to say "well he had a good year" but there were still a lot of questions on the off field stuff and i see nothing wrong with him being criticized for it

There are too many rumors going around right now. It does make sense that he might delay his trip to AZ to either tonight and check out facilities tomorrow, or just straight up wait to come until the next day. This is due to the Warner charity flag football game going on today. Lots of media, cameras, and other crap going on so not the best time for him to swing by. Apparently Alex Smith is playing in this charity.

2 Superbowls wins and 3 appearances, you have a ways to go to catch up to that overhyped team. We also had a 15-1 failure season too but with much less hype than the Packers.

At of the end of the day your team failed just like Minny and every team but the Giants. You Packer fans didn't listen but with your recent history you should have realized that the best teams early in the season never win it all. You just want to get a low seed, get in, make your qb a virgin and have your defense catch fire at the right time.

And the wife and kids are always calling. Not all of us are blessed with the luxury of being absentee husband and fathers...

True, though the Auburn money grab wasn't really an issue, with me anyway. College game is so corrupt, none of that stuff really matter to me.

Felt he caught a bit too much flak.

Edit: The Entertainer shit was laughable, but it's Peter King.

Winning playoff games doesn't win dick unless you win a Superbowl. Or do you think Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco are elite?
Fact is Alex choked like a bitch in that game and we both know it.
A bye would not have helped up. Our injuries were too severe to heal over one week. We need younger guys and some luck late in the season. But at least we have the qb. I only wanted to win that game so I could rub it in to you, but it was not out year. Our only achievement was shitting on the Pats.
Get over it FMT. If you were some recent bandwagon fan I would expect this kind of shit talking over meaningless regular season success, but as a fan of the team with the 2nd most Superbowls you should know better. Enjoy the good times while they last (wont be long), but don't lose sight of the ultimate goal.
