Take care of him, that's my quarterback...

Is it possible for Tannehill to be a bust in the NFL? With the Fins losing "steam" on Peyton, the likely scenario is Flynn or Tannehill. Unless Philbin has confidence in Moore.

Not sure if I can do that.

Also, are you guys mean to outsiders? Besides the normal Patriots 'hate' I get pretty much everywhere, I didn't think you guys were mean.

NBA GAF is the standard that all the sports megas are judged by and they are hostile to newcomers.

Our xenophobia is usually limited to two teamers. Lifelongs usually burn themselves out.

In other news, andybody see _Madtown recently?

Anybody can bust. Personally, I would hope for Flynn myself, considering he fits with Philbin and we've seen small glimpses of what he is capable of. Tannehill seems like he is getting a boost due to the shortage of quality QBs in the draft. I could be completely wrong, and have been before.

Weird thing about NFL GAF is that's it's always had a "amongst-friends" atmosphere, so you're more likely to bite your tongue rather that call someone an asshole, and if you called someone an asshole it was most likely in jest. Can't say the same of the rest of this forum.

Tannehill gives me a Blaine Gabbert vibe.

Tannehill played with some of the worst WRs I saw last year. Fuller is terrible, no idea how he got on early draft boards, probably because of his Bowl performance against Peterson. Swope was productive but he was usually the last option and for whatever reason teams forgot about him so he had some big gains.

I like Tannehill, mobile, good arm and accuracy, just not enough games. As Godslay pointed out anyone can be a bust, but I think he looked better than Locker/Gabbert/Ponder and they went pretty high.

I'd take him if I needed a QB, I'd feel more comfortable with him than the three I mentioned. Made plays around him and the only real weapons were the backs and OL.

Tannehill gives me a Blaine Gabbert vibe.

Tannehill's pocket awareness is light years ahead of Gabbert's. Gabbert would panic and float/drift, never really stepped up or around traffic. Tannehill, with less reps, looks better in the pocket than Blaine ever did. Blaine was also in the gun, so his footwork is rougher from under center than Tannehill's.

Well, there is always Weeden...........

..........

....

Weeden is interesting. Elway has his paws all over him from what I read. The thing that concerns me is that he is older irc 27 or 28, and from what I understand a project. So that means you would have to invest the time in him, and then maybe only get a few "prime" years out of him. I didn't watch much college football this year, so I don't really have a true sense of the guy, but old and a still somewhat of a project sets off alarms to me.

Yeah. Move it to community and move on. Who gives a shit. It's like the same 20 people every week, which makes it pretty cool. Easily the best thread on GAF.

Although with DCX pulling a Madoff, Madden GAF is right up there.

It's funny that a mod on a forum that takes six months to approve new members is bitching about insularity.

alex smith already did get us somewhere: 3/1 TD/INT ratio, 13-3 record, #2 seed, a home playoff win. sanchez has never done any of that nor will he ever.

i know it's hard to admit that alex had a really good season because all you know of him is the 6 years previous but the fact is he had a really good season and it's even more impressive when you realize this was an entirely new coaching staff and we had no WR's

Serious question - why does smith never throw to receivers? I didn't watch much niners except the playoffs, but crabtree has to be able to catch a pass right? Why doesn't smith ever through to that guy?

MLB and NFL GAF are a lot more friendly than NBA GAF but I don't really see anything wrong with how the NBA thread operates. MLB/NFL gets chippy with new guys around playoff time whereas the NBA thread is that way the entire season. If you want to stay around in the NBA thread you just have to take your initial licks and then they are pretty welcoming.

Article on T2:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...pes-shot-tearing-acl-a-time-article-1.1036825

Thomas is still dreaming of something bigger, though, which may be why negotiations with the Giants have stalled. He points out that in 2010 the Jacksonville Jaguars gave defensive end Aaron Kampman a four-year, $26 million contract with $11 million guaranteed, while he was still rehabbing a torn ACL.

How much production did Kampman give the Jaguars for the money again? It looks like T2 may end up hitting FA if he wants that money.

Does @TerrellThomas24 think the #NYG will re-sign him? “I’m very optimistic, but it’s a business. I’ve seen it turn ugly. You look at the Steve Smith situation. You can’t take that out of the back of your mind. Kevin Boss is a guy they drafted, and the Giants were big on keeping their picks. I definitely think they want me back. They told me they want me back. The conversations started right away. But until that ink is dry I can’t say I’m coming back. All I can really say is 'Time is ticking.'”

Weeden is 29 I think.

You're right, I took a guess without looking it up. Either way, figure 2 years to get him up to speed and he's 31. Get four good years out of him he's 35 and possibly on the decline. Sounds strange that I'm saying this when we are both chasing Manning, but Weeden will have 5 years of experience to Mannings 14 or so at 35.

You could get a younger guy, invest the time, and potentially get more productive years out of him. At the very least, that is the argument against him from what I understand.

Took me closer to a year I think, man they like to drag it out here.

Fastest way is to watch threads for chat opportunities. I got approved fairly fast by reading Poligaf, and they scheduled a "chat", then asked Hitokage to approve me in chat.

I knew that the day would come that they'd start fucking with sports threads. We'll probably be thrown into the community forum.

Random: JerseyMike subs are good.

My advice is to randomly post fear the deer pictures. NBA loves drive bys.

How is the MLB thread? Right now would likely be the best time to start posting so I don't look like I'm jumping on the bandwagon in the off chance the Rockies do something this year.

It's pretty decent, although stat nerds will jump on you left and right if they think they have fangraphs data to prove your post invalid.

I post there once in a while, and they are pretty cool. Its where Sanjuro really shines as a poster. The end of the regular season was incredible, though. Just don't root against the Yankees in the playoffs. Y2Kev was not happy

Doesn't sound too bad. Might start posting there after Peyton is secured in the Rockies.

I post there sometimes, I kinda disapear a lot though cause posting about the Pirates can be uber depressing and i'm sure they don't care to read 1000 negative posts from me :P

I'm sure they'll read your posts. We all read Larry's posts!

And regarding baseball,

Fuck the Orioles. Fuck the Blue Jays. Fuck the Rays. And Motherfuck the Yankees.
