I wonder why carl didn't just say like, Yo dad move over a sec there's a zombie behind you. He made it like he was going to shoot is own father.

They just left the forest seeing nothing... So you mean he will
damage control it like he did with ripping stomachs open.
Here's the direct quote:

Our finale is going to have a very cool opening scene that will reveal what this herd is and where this herd came from and also kind of inform the audience a little bit on zombie behavior and how herds form and what they do. You'll get answers to all that kind of stuff in the very first minutes next week.

But seriously where did those HUNDREDS of zombies come from.. seemingly out of nowhere

I really could give a shit. Maybe they are redneck zombies. Maybe aliens dropped them.

All I know is that it presents a golden opportunity to cull down the cast a bit, create some great moments, and move the action completely away from the farm.

Based on all that, I don't care if this guy is leading them in:

I'm wondering if the herd is Randall's crew.

Hell, that's a pretty good argument right there. Top notch.

Though I do think he could have done SOME kind of warning, he was also seeing a friend of his zombie shuffling towards his dad. And he's a kid. I'm willing to let some of that slide, since he got the shot off.

That will be a cool way to go next week. Look forward to it.

I got Patricia, Jimmy, Beth, aaaaaaaaaaand Carol biting the bullet. Although his increased screen time makes me nervous, T-Dog might make it on the strength of the inevitable Merle-Daryl reunion.

Plus if Merle is with the Govenor, T-Dog can be a stand in for Tyrese. They can reveal he used to play football and give him a hammer. I think Herschel makes it to the prison as well.

I thought it was
all men in that group? Fairly certain i saw some female walkers
Randall told Darryl (?) that they had women and children with them too.

Dunno. I think Herschel falling apart and dealing with more deaths of loved ones will be too much to give up, thematically. I think he'll make it.

Also, really getting jazzed for Season 3. Looking back, Mazzara was clearly cleaning up the lay of the land for how he wanted to do it, and removing the Darabont influences (good or bad). Finale feels like the first episode he is truly behind all of, and its looking fantastic from where I'm sitting.

He could very well go down fighting to save his two daughters. Like a muthafuckin boss.

Why are you assuming all of them were in the forest to begin with and not also on the other side of the hillside in the open?

Remember that they're attracted by noise. That's why everyone has done their best to use close-quarters takedowns as much as possible this season.

I'm so glad you guys haven't had the season finale spoiled. There's just too much awesome in it and I'm looking forward to your reactions to some really great stuff (especially stuff from the comics).

My bets on who's walker fodder by the end of the season finale: Herschel, Patricia, Jimmy, and T-Dog.

It saddens my heart that Lori, Andrea, and Carol are probably sticking around for a little while longer. :(

Nah, Carol's going down. I'm sure of it. Only way she doesn't is if Daryl sacrifices himself to save her, and that is a doomsday scenario as far as I'm concerned. Oh, it would be bold by the writers, but foolhardy to the max.

Throw it in spoilers, PM, or what not, but how many people die next week? Just a number, will help with rampant speculation. No descriptions, or anything else needed, but a numerical tally (zombies excluded of course).

Maybe some of the prison stuff gets moved up to this episode? Beth dies, Herschel gives up? Carol goes to make out with a zombie?!

There's no way T-dog will go. He's become an inside joke with the fanbase like Daleface, which they fucking referenced this episode. No way in hell they'll kill him (or Daryl or Glenn) off. No way.

he'll die and then at the funeral rick will say "he was a man of few words...but that's all he needed to be".

I'm starting to get myself concerned. Its very possible that Mazarra might make a bold removal of a character to bring back the impact of the comic and the 'nobody is safe' feel of it. Beginning to wonder...

If they kill Daryl off and don't give him a side-series I stop watching. Full stop. You hear me GAF Walking Dead insider!? Norman Reedus and his character stays on this show until the end. Capche!?

LOL @ that preview.

So Carl was standing there pointing his gun at Rick before Zombie Shane got up, implying that he might dramatically shoot his own father for killing Shane. But then in the preview
he asks how Shane died]
, so why was he pointing the gun at Rick dramatically before Shane got up?

Because the script said so!

I am with you. Daryl stays or I'm done.

Carl: hey Shane I stole this gun from Daryl

Shane: that's OK Carl, why don't you keep it

Shane: hey Rick Carl stole this gun from Daryl

Rick: hey Carl why don't you go ahead and keep this gun you stole from Daryl

WTF?!

I'm thinking of a couple of other characters. One in particular. I think Daryl will remain, because he is different from the rest of them. Different mindset and it would be stupid to throw away that potential and use as a foil. That's not to say they won't make the mistake of killing him, but I don't THINK it will happen.

The only reason I say she'll live is because of that same preview of flashing scenes I keep seeing on AMC when they say "ONLY TWO EPISODES LEFT THIS SEASON."

(spoilers related to those constant flashing previews)

If you look really closely (I couldn't help it because I've seen it some many times), you'll see Carol's head peeking out from behind Daryl as he's riding his bike away from a group of walkers, which of course implies that Daryl risks himself to save her. Damn it, Daryl!

WTF?!

I was also secretly wondering WTF about this in the back of my mind. lol

The new Kirkman interview about tonight's episode suggests at least Daryl will survive, since Rick will apparently have to lean on him more in Season 3.

Ah, this has made my week. I've been dying for the bad ass duo of Rick & Daryl to happen. Good shit.

Please tell me they leave the farm?! Time to move on people. Hopefully this herd finds the farm location forcing them to leave.

Well, considering you can see the farm from the field they are in, all lit up. And they have people running to it right in front of them.

Hard to see how they won't.

On the set, Carl aimed at Shane when he started getting up. He sat up, moved around, and stumbled for a second before he stood into frame.

It's fun to picture what YOU would do in this situation. I guess hindsight is 20/20, but man, in retrospect they should've spent their days making quick trips to town to loot for fencing supplies, and then set up a massive perimeter encircling the farm. Chain-link fences work well to stop zombies, as we've seen at every school, so maybe they could've set up something similar and slowed the hordes long enough to whittle them down from the other side...

My finale survival predictions:

Herschel is more than likely going down in some kind of heroic sacrifice, in a way that he feels will redeem him for his mistakes.

Maggie's almost certainly going to live and join the group.

Either Jimmy or Patricia will die. I think one will survive to have an expendable in Season 3.

Rick, Lori, and Carl should be safe.

Glenn and Andrea should be safe.

I think Daryl is going to be fine, but I'm not as sure.

T-Dog, I think, is around 65/35 with odds on him surviving.

Carol, I think, is 50/50.

*Side note: I could see them getting rid of Andrea with Carol, from a production standpoint, as that would get rid of everyone with ties to Darabont.
