"Why did these cops turn? They aren't bit?"
I think it's just a little forshadowing, and feigning ignorance.

"Why did these cops turn? They aren't bit?"
After the episode was over, I thought when Shane was slapping himself and whatnot in the barn, that perhaps he was having those same visions we were shown as he turned after Rick killed him. But then, I also thought he got mixed blood in his system during that episode with the bus.

YEah, but rick is apparently stupid and just forgot it.
Or that his best friend was just shot and that normally no one turns into a zombie that quickly.
Maybe...Naw, I think he was "playing dumb" because Shane was there. Shane was not stable enough to be trusted with that information.
Think about it, if the CDC guy did in fact tell him thatthat would completely devastate the group and they would lose all hope.everyone is already infected
He even hinted at that type of thinking when he was talking to Hershel in the bar. Something about making choices and doing things for the benefit of the others in the group--to give them hope.

"Why did these cops turn? They aren't bit?"
Maybe he doesn't want anyone else to know? It could break some of the group's hope and dismantle them further. Rick is the sort of guy who would probably try to keep hope alive for the group.
Maybe, but that doesn't make the writing less clunky.

Seems to me they are ignoring almost everything about season 1. No mention of the CDC,The father and son(jones?)from the pilot . Hell Daryl never mention his own brother,Merle.
Maybe...
but I can't imagine rick putting the entire group in danger in the name of some weird psychological theory about Shane.
It's just as likely the guy said, "your wife is pregnant" implying she cheated on him or that he'd have to protect a baby in the middle of hell, but he "played dumb" or that the guy said something we haven't been exposed to yet.
If it ends up being that rick knew, that dialogue with the cops is clunky and confusing to the audience. No reason to create confusion and waste time with him explaining some flimsy reasoning... not to say the show is incapable of that :/
If he was playing

I don't see why they becoming zombies after death regardless of the manner in which they died, really matters. So somebody has a heart attack and you have to stab them in the head instead of putting them right in the ground. Big deal. It's one extra step.
What?
Merle was in episode 5 of this season. Live action in a hallucination/dream. Daryl is not the one to talk about his feelings...
Not really.
The CDC dude did take samples from everyone before they came in.
This theory has some weight.
Not really. Andrea has mentioned Dale depriving her of her chance to kill herself multiple times this season, which indirectly makes you remember the CDC each time. What's there to say about the CDC until the next few episodes?relised that after posting, even though it was adream, other two points stand
I don't think you understand what I mean.
To have the main character of your show, spend a scene of an episode puzzling over why 2 zombies were able to become zombies is fine. To later reveal that he secretly knew, and brought it up to shane, but pretended not to not know why is just going to create needless conversation in an episode if they wish to address it. Writing your way out of that is clunky and boring. Not addressing it would be clunky and create holes.
It's just a weird decision to make as a writer. It distracts from the story and focuses on details that don't matter or effect any of the characters on the show.
Not saying they won't go that way, just saying it's gonna eithe rmake rick look stupid or it's going to be some really clunky dialogue to explain.
"I knew, but I had to lie to protect everyone. I even brought it up to shane once, and if he were alive ya'll would care, but I pretended to not know, because I had figured he couldn't handle that kind of info."
Riveting shit. why bother?
In the end, I actually really felt sorry for Randall. We never got to find out what kind of character he was...
His entire point of existence was to be Solid Snake'd by Shane so that Rick could be isolated from the group in a premeditated attempt by Shane to reclaim his position as the alpha of the group.
Poor kid.![]()
I'm not saying it couldn't be the case from a fiction standpoint. I just don't know how you explain it cleanly on a TV show.I see what you're saying and I think that the reason that it's clunky to you is because it was expository, mostly for the benefit of the viewing audience, so tonight's episode wasn't a ton of bricks getting dropped.
As far as Rick's character saying this to Shane, who knows? After that skirmish, he could have been testing the water to plant the seed in Shane's head for a later reveal if he felt Shane was gonna become a team player and could be trusted as the deputy of the group again.
Dropping clues to ease him into the reveal at some point down the road.
Rick potentially keeping his cards close to his chest wasn't that bothersome to me.
*shrugs*
werd. I thought he seemed like a weasely cunt near the end. We'll probably never know, but they definitely left that door open.I don't know, man. I got the strong feeling he was lying when he said he took no part in the kind of things his people did to other survivors, especially right before he died. He came across as cowardly and weak-willed, someone who fell in with Tony and Dave's group out of necessity but who went along with what they did. (Maybe because he was afraid of being kicked out of the group. But he did it anyway.) He always seemed nervous, and he was always changing his story. (Not a coincidence that Dave and Tony also lied through their teeth in the bar.)
Shane is dead, why would this needless conversation exist? . You're assuming Shane had a reason to doubt the scratches and then told other people off camera he only saw scratches.I don't think you understand what I mean.

No, I'm assuming that the audience (us) will wonder why rick lied. If they don't explain it, it makes rick look stupid or forgetful. Either situation is clunky.Shane is dead, why would this needless conversation exist? . I think spending the whole season not telling anyone what Jenner allegedly said overshadows lying to one person about it during the course. No, I'm assuming that the audience (us) will wonder why rick lied.
Agree 100%, he really gave off red flags, when he told Daryl that his group raped 2 girls in front of thier father, and then say they have women and children in their group. Then tonite when him and shane was in the woods he said something like "the guys in my group are crazy, you will fit right in".I don't know, man. I got the strong feeling he was lying when he said he took no part in the kind of things his people did to other survivors, especially based on what he said right before he died. I think Darly and Glen probably put 2 and 2 togather when they killed zombie randall and didnt see any bite marksI agree. That doesn't suddenly make it artful though. That wouldn't fly on a better show. Character knowledge can't be that fluid or we have meta conversations like this and break our suspension of disbelief.
So, we get (best case) rick tells the group, they get mad that he kept the info from them, the conversation with shane is never addressed and we'll always have one weird clunky scene in one episode.
The sorta shit I remember from Lost S6.
I think Darly and Glen probably put 2 and 2 togather when they killed zombie randall and didnt see any bite marks
Of course. This has nothing to do with the discussion though...I think Darly and Glen probably put 2 and 2 togather when they killed zombie randall and didnt see any bite marks
Pretty high at this point I suspect. What are the chances the group is led by the Governor? Since they did cast him already why not start to set it up for season 3.
Good ep, dunno how I feel about the ending. I knew Shane died thanks to looking up a spoiler, but I'm still bummed. Team Shane till I die
It seemed pretty ridiculous that Carl found them in the woods. At first I thought it was a dream sequence or something
Someone earlier in the thread pointed out that Carl had been looking out the window at a feild like that with binoculars earlier in the episode for seemingly no reason. Works for me.Good ep, dunno how I feel about the ending. I knew Shane died thanks to looking up a spoiler, but I'm still bummed. Team Shane till I die

And why would Shane plan to murder Rick within direct vision distance of the farm lol. He knew there were lookouts

Well, you are a fan of LeBron, the ultimate beta male, so I guess this makes total sense.
And why would Shane plan to murder Rick within direct vision distance of the farm lol. He knew there were lookouts
Shane never intended to kill Rick, imo.
He wanted to goad Rick into killing him.
That's why he was saying all that shit about being a better husband, protector, father than him.
He wanted Rick to draw on him.
How come none of these people have, are trying to acquire, or have even mentioned
1. walkie talkies
