Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Faunts did give us another awesome song for the credits however. Das Malefitz is amazing <3

No Hammerhead or Mako missions? Terrible ending? Shitty slow-motion Hammer of Dawn versus Reaper fight? Photoshopped stock image for a quarian? Fuck off Bioware.

Wasn't he on board for ME2? Pretty sure he couldn't save the ending of the third.

I think he was still listed as a writer but they had moved him to Star Wars after ME1. They probably consulted him but he was no longer the lead writer which is important. Being the lead means you can keep Mac in line.

Mass Effect 3 was an incredible game from start to...before the beam. But if this proves anything further with Bioware, I'm pretty much finished with more games from the studio including Dragon Age 3 whenever that comes out.

I'm pretty much ignoring all the gaming websites since they all want a turn in bed with major publishers anyway, so their opinions are a waste of time to read.

I think I'm done with Bioware now. I didn't like what they did with DA2 (didn't play, read reviews, saw footages etc. Loved DA:O and Awakening) and if this is how they end a franchise all about player choice and consequence then I don't want any more from these guys.

5 war assets bro (that ended up not mattering at all)

Seriously? Just 5? So glad I told her to fuck off from the start. Stupid reason to be on a stealth ship to report what they are doing. Glad Shep called her out on that.

there comes to a point where she interviews you in the cabin and she even flirted with my Femshep. you can't romance her at all tho. but damn, they gave her too many real scenes.

I was so happy they went back with ME1 music. Fuck yah

If only they included a grain filter (like how it was in 1 and 2), having a few planet missions where you can explore and find war assets with some mako like vechile, with the god-like sky boxes again that would fit the war theme, and space combat with a full closure on the actions you have done, this game could have been the game of all games :(

Either that or a total retcon "sorry guys that shit just didn't happen, here's the true ending". I would be totally fine with that too.

I think everyone would be fine with an ending that either explains a lack of choice ("the cycle must continue. We demand it.") or an ending that incorporates user input.

I can deal with a 'no choice' twist at the end, but an illusion of choice that doesn't have anything to do with previous concepts in the plot is just... pffff I don't know. I feel like a five year old would have written a better ending to be honest.

Narrative mode bro

full choices enabled. Doesn't mean jack shit.

I think it's supposed to raise some more over time. I hear she throws out Zaeed's gun though, and I couldn't stand her terrible acting so I kicked her off. So glad they gave that as an option.

And... yeah, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach on future Bioware games. I don't want to say I'm DONE, not when they can turn around and reveal something I'd really want, but I don't like their direction and it does feel like they'll focus more on cinematic flair then really giving the feel I can control a story at all. That, and it's disappointing they're handling dialogue the way they are: not EVERY one of your games needs the ME wheel, or at least not easily telegraphed choices and sentences that don't really tell me EXACTLY what my character will do. I ended up basically auto piloting through Paragon because it wasn't like I could seriously know what Shepard would even do if I picked the other option and there was always a "right" one for a certain style, though I should've at least punched that bloodthirsty Quarian idiot.

I think that was meant for the broshep but they were too lazy to remove that last bit from the femshep convo

Shepard was part synthetic right? So it doesn't make sense that he can live if he destroys all synthetics? Or is this just an "lol he lives" type thing.

can't deal with any twist at the end, because the twist they gave us sucks (so much so that a variant of the 'it was a dream' theory seems so much more appealing)

the game ended with Shepard talking to a dying Anderson for me. Hopefully I'll get an option later officially or unofficially to lop off all that vent kid bullshit.

I will say, sound design is something they nailed. The sound of a Reaper's beam and the sound of one entering the system you're exploring is awesome.

Oh I completely disagree. It was obnoxious as hell and is the main thing I'll remember about ME3's badness

I don't know how many times I have to say this. The Catalyst lied to you. Why the fuck are people believing the Reaper? Yes, I'm a believer in the Indoctrination theory.

So you can't bang anyone from ME2?

And are there any other relationships on the ship? I know tali and garrus hook up, but what if you are sleeping with one of them?

btw: Where the fuck did Vegas come from? Did something happen between 2-3 in which you meet him?

Just realized... all those crappy fetch quests in the Citadel, all those people i helped, all those hours spent there... and they were all turned into goo when the Reapers took the station.

This just makes me Angry, the game doesn't even reassure you that the population managed to evacuate. Someone just tells you... "oh well, the reapers captured the citadel and moved it to earth".

Y'know, I've got one thing to say positive about the ending and that is the potential teaser to Mass Effect 4. If that scene where the child talking to the star gazer is set far along in the future (this being the planet the Normandy and crew crash landed on) and that child is perhaps the main avatar for the next new arc, they've done a good job of setting a wonderful beginning to explore the whole universe fresh again, especially the whole "uncharted worlds" aspect. Hell, if the Normandy only got a few knocks I wouldn't be surprised that could play as the characters main ship again as some kind of ancient high tech vessel that's still up to match with what the new universe has to offer.

Him and Shep got all buddy buddy between Arrival and ME3. They had to do something while they waited for ME3.

At the beginning of 3 Shep is obviously familiar with him, somewhat, but I doubt it was more than just a few meetings here and there during his grounding.

I guess we'll see about Vega when the (lol) anime comes out.

Ok then please explain why the catalyst lied to you. Why didn't it just, I dunno, fucken vaporize you where you stood? What's the point of lying to you?

Yeah, that's what I am wondering. Ok so the Catalyst is lying to you. So what does that mean? Destroying them doesn't actually destroy them?

I love the sound design but felt the mixing was all over the place. Music was too quiet a lot of the time, and I felt the Reapers' boom needed more kick in some sequences, yet was fine in others.

Jack punched me then we made out at Grissom

We had a 'romancy' kiss at the club and that unlocked the paramour achievement.

That's it. That's all the romance besides like one additional line near the end.

not bassy enough for me until near the end of the game. dunno what was up with that but the Reapers did sound awesome.

I'm laughing really hard at the indoctrination theory.

You guys are giving way too much credit to Bioware. It's not their style, it's too complicated and honestly, it doesn't fit with what we know of the dev time.

They ran out of time, had to finish the game and they made what we currently have.

Creating your own substitute ending won't change the fact that it's just a fantasy. :|

Ok then please explain why the catalyst lied to you. Why didn't it just, I dunno, fucken vaporize you where you stood? What's the point of lying to you?

Two out of the three choices do vaporise you. And why wouldn't it lie to you? It's an AI. The Reapers AI. It could lie to you to preserve the reapers (which survive in 2 of the three endings).

Try turning off Dynamic Range in the sound menu. For whatever reason, it totally murders the mixing, it's not a very good implementation.

I don't know how many times I have to say this. The Catalyst lied to you. Why the fuck are people believing the Reaper? Yes, I'm a believer in the Indoctrination theory.

I'm there with you, friend. After all the assurances from other characters that Shepard is still him-/herself despite the implants in ME2, the Catalyst's comments come off as nothing more than suggestive manipulation. "Even you are partly synthetic..." - how the hell would it know? This is just another thing Shepard verbally worries about, a target for the Reaper's influence. But the best Destroy ending essentially confirms (in the context of this theory) that the Catalyst was full of shit.

It's another reason I like this theory even if others don't: I never liked the kid, and this theory is basically a free pass to rip the bugger's virtual representation to shreds.

I picked Tali in ME2, continued in ME3, and there was nothing else on the ship besides the EDI/Joker lolfest if you encouraged it.

Ok then please explain why the catalyst lied to you. Why didn't it just, I dunno, fucken vaporize you where you stood? What's the point of lying to you?
The point of lying to you is to make the obvious "good" destroy choice seem to be really really bad.

Yeah, that's what I am wondering. Ok so the Catalyst is lying to you. So what does that mean? Destroying them doesn't actually destroy them?

Destroying them does destroy them, but not necessarily ALL synthetic life as you were led to believe.

I'm a believer in the Hallucination/Indoctrination theory though. So, I'm just extrapolating.

I love the sound design but felt the mixing was all over the place. Music was too quiet a lot of the time, and I felt the Reapers' boom needed more kick in some sequences, yet was fine in others.

My thoughts as well. The music was hidden away and I had to mix with the levels to really get a solid mix going. Had to really lower the sound effects a lot, and the voice work a little bit.

Speaking of five years, it is a hell of a way to just disregard everything they have done in that time frame at the end. Instead of putting a cherry on top of the five year experience for us to savor and ponder on the flavor of, they effectively took a piss all over the whole cake and threw it in the trash. "Make sure you buy the DLC to get more of a conclusion!"

The fuss is not whiny entitlement on behalf of overly demanding gamers, either. I think that most of us just wanted to end the series on a note that left us feeling satisfied, so that we could think back with a smile on our face over the three games, as we watched the credits roll by. Instead, we get out of place nonsense and an obvious set up for DLC. Don't see how anyone who has been invested in the series since 2007 could approve, let alone feel satisfaction from such bullshit.

But there's ZERO point in lying to you, or saying ANYTHING to you whatsoever if that was its goal!

is it me or was her butt really really big in that scene when she left.

As much as I hated the ending, the game was soo good.

I never really felt sadness or anything when playing a video game, but when Mordin died : (

Same with Legion, two of my favorite characters from ME2 just had to die, really sucks.

Also really mad that there wasn't a Krogan squad member this time. Wish there was a little more diversity.

well, shep reaches the control panel or whatever of the catalyst, and has the power to unleash the macguffin on the macguffinators. harbinger (who according to the theory has been trying to indoctrinate shep all through the game BEHIND THE SCENES) is too far away to blast them (but close enough to indoctrinate) and tricks shepard into doing something, w/e.

I thought it was cute that Vega got all the Krogan skills.
