NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

Lol at the Lions considering making a run at Mario Williams before Cliff Avril. Gotta dump Vandenbosch first!

"I know the Lions organization was talking about making a real run at Mario Williams," Schefter said on Mike & Mike Tuesday morning. "A lot of people are saying, 'Woah, the Lions? They don't have a lot of cap space.' This was pre-franchise tagging Cliff Avril, which they did. That takes them out of the Mario Williams market, but there was a lot of thought given in that organization to going after Mario Williams."

I understand the MSU hate because of the 3 straight beatings we administered to you this year, but why the Louisville hate? Is it because Pitino is a little bitch?

I went to Marquette and have tried at times to be a Marquette fan. It's tough and feels wrong, but as an alum I feel like I should try.

Sucks that Memphis got stuck with an 8 seed and a second round game with MSU...Memphis has the statistical profile of a 3-4 seed IIRC. I could see that game going either way.

Memphis has no one that can deal with Draymond Green.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

They could still easily drop the franchise tag on Avril if they got Williams, which they would have to do.

It's a remote possibility, but I don't see it happening. Williams will probably end up in Chi-town.

IS THIS REAL LIFE?!

I don't know who this guy is and if hè really has 'sources' but OMG.

No one in their right mind would take those two picks to move up into the top 10. That's a pipe dream.

Dang at Terrell Thomas contract. Lot of money for a guy coming off a serious injury. I hope his knee isn't bad. :\

I think this eliminates the Giants from drafting corner in R1, or early on.

You really feel that's a lot of money? I think it's a great deal. If he's healthy it's a bargain, if not he's gone and you didn't really lose much. Great deal from my perspective.

We have more needs than Williams. I would rather see a LB (Lofton 2012 campaign!), Nicks, or a DB with any money we'll have. And if he ends up in Chicago, we can always have Gosder give him the old Jared Allen treatment!

Ya know, I should have connected the dots there

The initial number produces sticker shock, but the option out clause completely makes the deal for the Giants. Little risk outside of whatever guaranteed money he is due at the end of this season (it ain't 11 million either).

I think the Canty deal isn't that bad, I had read he was expecting 7 mil that year. Also the Giants have so many pass rushers he doesn't see the field as much. 6/42 with $17.25 million guaranteed doesn't sound like a big overpay.
I'll need to find the article but I remember reading snap count numbers and Canty is one of the highest on the defensive line (over 800 snaps if memory recalls for 2011).

Aside from that, I agree to an extent. Canty was a bit of an overpay when he was signed but he's earned his money the past two seasons. The guy is a monster in the middle of the defense and doesn't get the due he should for his play.

Lance Z saying the Bills are going hard after Mario. Hope they sign him, will appease most of the fools, they can then bitch about something else when the team doesn't win, because not spending money recklessly will no longer be an excuse.

NFLN just said they were going to go after Jackson from SD.

I highly doubt this. Makes no sense with Trent Cole and Babin on the team and playing well. Where would he fit? As a LB in 4-3 scheme? Don't think so.

More credible are the rumors that the Eagles might pick up Landry. Redskins fans whats the word on him? All I know is that he is terrible in coverage but he can hit and is a sure tackler.
I don't know about "sure tackler". He is more of the type that loves to go for the kill shot all the time which can lead to missed tackles. His coverage is not always terrible, just inconsistent. There some are games where he gets burned regularly, and other games where he destroys recievers and totally intimidates them.

He's also only played 17 games total the last two years.

Yeah, got to get tickets sales up. A deep threat for a dink dunk offense, makes sense to me.

You're as cynical of the bills as I was about the niners for the past 10 years lol. I hope it happens for you guys this year bro. You were so damn close last season

Yeah that is why I don't mind losing him. If it weren't for his health concerns I would prefer to resign him.

I'm still hoping they bring back Fletcher. It worries me that he doesn't have a deal yet.
