Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

The Internet is like some sort of hyperbolic competition. The crazier and more over-the-top your opinions are the cooler you become... you get more noticed, you stick out from the crowd, you get more attention. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, HORRIFIC (someone really used HORRIFIC), WORST EVER.

Just. STOP. Please.

Looks at number of pages...looks at post about wanting to stick out in a crowd...slowly backs away from Heavy's post...RUNS!

ITS A TRAP!

I'm honestly not surprised at all to see you saying this. You always tend to pick the opposite of whatever the majority say lol.

I have a feeling one of my friends will love it. He ALWAYS seems to have the opposite of the 'popular' opinion on everything.

Isn't that /exactly/ what you're guilty of?

"The ghost kid has nothing to do with anything."

My thoughts exactly. It's why he doesn't belong in the ending.

after showing the same scene twice, Bioware thought they should mix it up a bit for the third time.
You know. I actually thought Bioware would throw in "ghosts" of your dead squadmates as you moved further in the game. We only got their voices instead (hard to pick up if you aren't listening for it) and got stuck with Bioware shoving the little kid down our throats.

yeah, I was expecting that too. Something out of Metal Gear Solid 3. But Deus Ex is a pretty long game.

Even worse than Kaiden?

Kaiden was just depressing. The only reason I chose that xenophobic broad over him is because he was such a downer.

But he's still better than Jacob. Jacob is the blandest pile of shit character in the series. It's why I could appreciate James Vega. At least he had a personality, for better or worse.

But... aren't your opinions on this whole thing just that? Mostly everyone here hates the ending, you have the opinion that sticks out from the crowd. Don't go raging on us because we think the ending is a piece of shit but you like it.

I had the same thought when I was typing that up... "isn't what I'm saying exactly what I'm criticizing?" I'm not unaware of the irony of my posts. But jesus, the level of the hyperbole... I'm not even sure what to say.

By the way, I didn't say I loved the ending or anything. It was decent and about what I expected for a story of this enormous scope.

The ending was always going to be about everything... not about Shepard or the Normandy but everything, the entire galaxy, all organic and synthetic life. This is what the entire game was prepping the user for.

You know, this thread make me think of Assassin's Creed series. I haven't given enough credit to Ubisoft for making so many games in a series with an endings that offend people.

The premise of the Assassin's Creed, is essentially Dan Brown tinfoil bullshit. It's much worse than the premise of Mass Effect (Galaxy Cycle). Yet Ubisoft was able to paddled out one AC games after another without revealing too much of the main story. They let the players focus on the satisfactory conclusions of the protagonists, which is what the gamers care about.

After all, the premise of the series is but a McGuffin, it's a mean to an end to take you through the journey. Do we really care who was the mastermind behind Reapers? I don't. All I cared about was to see Shepard do the right thing and sacrifice himself to save the Galaxy, and kill shit and joke with Garrus alone the way. Ubi was able to lead the gamers there without letting the mumble jumble alien bullshit get in the way. BioWare writers had to come alone and remind people they have "creative freedom" and fucking ruin the experience.

I want to spend time talk about Admiral Hackett's emotional send off before the final mission. I want to talk about the the special moment between Shepard and Liara before the end. Instead everybody is trying to talk themselves into the Indoctrination theory. Fuck BioWare man!

Stop shooting me down :(.

It's cool, man. I totally see where your coming from. It's really easy to distrust console manufactures when it comes to backwards compatibility. This time I think it'll be alright though as it's all just standardized stuff. Worst comes to worse, bioware could release something that you download that scans your save on the console and uploads your decisions to an EA server that ME4 could read. Despite the few missteps they make here and there, I still believe in bioware for things like that.

But it's not about everything. It's about Shepard making one of 3 1 choice to decide the fate of everyone else and in every ending it focuses on the Normandy running away for some reason and the relays blowing up....stranding every other race in our system. The game doesn't bother to explain that at all, just focusing on your crew on some random planet with robo-leaves.

Got my pie. Saw a kid on the way home. Pooped a little.

So what other SP DLC could we possibly see. I think we've all agreed Omega DLC is definetly coming. I'd like to see Illium as well.

Yeah. The ending should have been on the largest scale - so why are these entirely new concepts thrown at you in 5 minutes of ghost kid talking? The consequences are too large to make such a decision based on only a few minutes of conversation with a horribly personified surprise villain?

Murdering Mordin and then murdering Wrex kind of coalesce into one big asshole moment.

This reminds me

Was I the only one kind of annoyed that I didn't get a real conversation with Wrex at the end? I know he's not the sentimental type, but Wrex was very much my bro from ME1. Relegating him to a walk-away conversation seemed silly.

I just beat it and wow this is the worst overreaction in the history of video games.

I expect we'll see DLC that both gives us the secret origin of the reapers, details on what race built them etc., and maybe sets up the villain for the inevitable next trilogy. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the next villain, at least for one of the games, will be a highly advanced race from another galaxy.

I agree with you there. We got no closure on what happens after the Normandy lands on Pandora or whatever planet that is, nor do we get closure on what happens to all of the other races. But the overall scope and story of the game IS resolved, in my opinion.

I beat the game last night.

I think people who are complaining that all this mystical stuff got thrown at them in the last ten minutes of the game are forgetting how stupidly the whole premise of the game started on Mars.

"Oh, we conveniently found Prothean plans for a super weapon that might destroy the reapers, but actually we're not sure what it does"

On the Galaxy Map in the 3rd quarter of the game there are two Reapers on my map occupying systems that cant be accessed at any point. Is that supposed to be like that? Future DLC maybe?

You could bring up the same arguments for all the ME games.

I want to go to Palaven with my bro Garrus. Not the moon, even if it had the best skybox in mass effect history, the actual planet. We get to see the krogan, asari and salarian homeworlds but not the turians.
