How many decks do you all keep assembled at a time?

I think I currently have 7 after I put together a black/white humans deck last night entirely in order to get to use the 3 Ravenous Demons I have.

The others I have are:
*Somewhat effective Standard decks*
-WUB Spirits which is slowly transitioning to Delver/Spirits
-GB Birthing Pod

*Decks built for casual play and/or because I had some cards I wanted to use*
-RB creature destruction with a bunch of big mana creatures at the top end for multiplayer
-RG Werewolves
-GW Golems
-Blue control (mostly to give my friend who is new to the game some experience playing against it)

One of these days I'll make an EDH deck if I can convince my other friends to do it too.

Well, beside the duel decks and Commander decks I bought, I have these.

Legacy Vampires
Legacy Elves
Legacy Burn w/no creatures
Legacy Black/Green Titan deck
Legacy Knights/Equipment

Standard Spirits
Standard Zombies
Standard Illusions

Since I started with the Scars block all my decks are strictly Standard asides from my pre-constructed Commander's deck. I tried making a deck of each color. I find myself most playing U or W and find myself switching cards amongst decks way too often. @_@

W/B Tokens
U/W Spirits
W/U Humans
R Mono red
B Mono black Infect
G/W Tokens
B/U Zombies

Next week, we are doing a pauper limited format tourny at my place so I got a Mono blue self-mill zombie deck going. Gotta include Delver though because it's like the best common card! I'll post up the deck later. It's a fun format.

Gotta make a modern deck. Got friends who only got modern decks so I'll gotta build something. Was thinking Cawblade minus the Stoneforge.

Ugh, one my friends played a Crumbling Sanctuary in multiplayer last night and no one was really packing artifact removal.

That was the most dreadful hour long game of Magic ever. The vast majority of it involved a stalled board where I pumped out human tokens and that I used to chump block Phyrexian Processor tokens.

Does Crumbling Sanctuary really prevent the loss of life from Phyrexian Processor? Aren't "paying life" and "taking damage" two separate things?

it doesn't.

however, a strategy you can use with the processor is to drop it for 19 (or exactly as much as you can take and survive) and then to cast crumbling sanctuary. your life total has effectively been reset, as you'll take damage from your library, not your life total. this synergy in fact played a crucial role in some very popular type two decks back in the day and a game in a worlds final that finished 3-2 was lost on a misplay that involved casting a crumbling sanctuary before attacking with a phyrexian processor token.

You still pay the life. But it isn't really a big penalty when any damage you take just takes cards off your library. Of course this also means that any cards that inflict life loss instead of damage will still take down your life total.

All kinds of angels up in here. Sorin's been busy.

Angel EDH will definitely be happy as will Demon I am thinking

And elves back for green, gobs/dragons for red.

Blue gets ... Um. More stupid counter spells that suck. Or illusions. I'd be cool with those becoming the blue tribe of justice.

Somewhere, someone is marking off the days of his calender until the triumphant return of merfolk.

Like Dragons, they represent the upper levels of the creature food chain for their respective color, so I don't think we'll be seeing Angel.dec anytime soon.

It would be strange seeing a 1CC 1/1 angel.

Why not make cherubs or something like that?

I always thought they should have combined leveling up with angels. I mean, Ascending Angel or something like those lines would've been perfect. And yeah, get into it and classify "levels" of angels.

I know MaRo is big on Dragons being only super powerful, but I think they should make some smaller ones, too.

My coworker says that Sorin created Avacyn from himself and his is B/W... I bet him 5 bucks on the subject.

That's the theory I'm running with for her being BW. Also, the whole black and white armor thing.

The third angel on those mats could be any combination of blue, green, and white based on the picture.

Good points. Probably gonna be a B/W creature then. Still wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being W/G. BTW, hate the goth make up.

Karn only became a Planeswalker because Urza died and Karn inherited his spark when the Legacy items are blown up.
He only recovered his spark after Venser died and gave him his spark.
Sorin will NOT die to give Avacyn his spark, I assure you.
Avacyn will not be a planeswalker.
The sooner that people make peace with that , the better.

So....the Helvault is what is keeping all the legacy creatures in control, right? So, since this is breaking open, we're likely to have a bunch of the classic creatures like elves and merfolk or whatever back, right?

This is my understanding after a 10 minute wiki search, anyway

No, there have never been any other creatures on this plane.
The Helavault is a prison that they were using to imprison the demon.
At the last moment it speared Avacyn and she was pulled in also.
The helavault has nothing to do with elves and whatnot.
Not all races live on all planes.

There was actually a very cool bit of Innistrad back story posted in a traveler's guide that went over the story.

Hex is once again right. They made the conscious decision to stay away from the usual tribes like elves, goblins, merfolk, etc in order to keep a specific flavor.

I was sort of thinking in the next block. I wouldn't even want them to move away from the current flavor in AVR. I love it.

Now...the cards on the other hand. Outside of white, I'm fairly indifferent.

Maro has said that it will be returning to high fantasy after this block is over, and as much as I love this block I will love that too because I hated Scars block and I would love to see new elves and other goodies.

I have the sort of the opposite feel this block from the last. I hated the whole flavor from Scars (I like the mirrodin stuff, hated the Phyrexian stuff) but I really enjoy playing with a lot of those cards.

I just found out about Gut Shot...it's too soon! Same with Beast Within, Puresteel and Surgical Extraction,

I wonder what mechanics they'll bring back in AVR. Exalted maybe? That could match up well with the return of Avacyn inspiring her followers.

I love elves. They've always been my favorite archetype.

A. How did Wandering get banned? :(

B. I'm not excited about a return to high fantasy unless they're going to back to Dominaria. The old-school Magic world has been ignored for far too long IMO.

C. I loved the flavor of the Scars block and the cards were really fun to play with. I'm going to be sad to see them rotate out, except for Infect. I even like Phyrexian mana, though they could have been smarter about how they made some of the cards.
