Are the same people who were in charge when Jeff was at Gamespot even still there? That was a long while ago. If its a completely different management in place now, Jeff shouldn't have any major problems going back.

Full circle for me. I started as a Gamespot member, quit on the day Jeff got fired, was a day 1 charter member of Giantbomb when it went live, and now it looks like I will be a Gamespot member again.

If things get bad, the GB crew should pull a SCDP.
I really want this to be good news, and I do trust the guys. Jeff has done this his whole life, and I don't think he would want to compromise anything he's worked towards these past few years.
But personally speaking, I have lived through small, startup companies getting bought by giant corporations and I've experienced first hand what that does to a working environment. It's all smiles at first, and change is always projected as good change. But the realities of business means that the amount of change and how good/bad it ends up being is never predictable.
I wish them the best.. I hope this works.
