I dont understand, if the indoctrination theory is correct what does it do the overall perspective of the ending? Did the reapers win? Does the cycle continue? Overall sad ending?

There didn't necessarily need to be an explanation for the Reapers, but even if they intended to have one the problem is what they have is awful and not convincing in the slightest. They didn't leave any mystery there, instead giving us a shitful excuse.

They followed this up with God using space magic to put the entire galaxy in a state that is completely unexplainable and unprecedented, with seemingly no intentions of following it up with any answers at all. It's one thing to say "Okay, the relays were destroyed, a necessary casuality to stop the Reapers. How will the species react?", but they decided to throw in (if you chose the specific ending) "ALSO EVERYONE IS MERGED WITH ROBOTS AND YOUR CREW IS STANDARD ON A MYSTERY PLANET FOR SOME REASON".

They didn't need to give full, air tight closure. They didn't need to explain away everything. They should have left some wonder and mystery to the future of the franchise. They just happened to do the worst possible job of it.

This basically sums up my thoughts. I don't care to have everything explained. A good ending can spark plenty of discussion, including theories and all that good stuff. The problem with ME3's ending is the the fact that, while it does lend towards discussion as we've seen, it's for all the wrong reasons. Introducing scenes that destroy any sort of logic behind the choices made in that final moment. It's completely baffling.

Again, we tore Sovereign atleast a hundred new assholes at the end of ME1. I want to know how you still maintain that the reapers are the gods that they say they are.

It means all that end stuff didn't happen and Shepard is still in London, breathing in the rubble.
 
I can't really believe that this ending is the real ending to our beloved Mass Effect trilogy. I'm waiting on the DLC releases and if it's true...man. If it's true this is my last fucking bioware game, and I love bioware games.

This is what I have been saying, it's so dumb I almost can't believe it. If it isn't indoc then it's just a really ambiguous way of trying to be thematic with vent kid.

So then if the end is just a dream, what DOES happen? If he never actually frees or destroys the Reapers then nothing changes, the Reapers are still raping Earth.

I don't quite see what the hate is with the kid, though. My problem was simply how he didn't quite have the effect they obviously intended because of the presentation. Seeing a kid momentarily flying a toy alone, then quietly in a vent, then taken out. There needed to be more people around initially outside the military meeting, perhaps a family or other kids, and showing more desperation in the opening scenes. The environment was too sterile, just saying "here's a human kid getting vaporized, you get it right?" doesn't work. Duh, we get it...but we didn't feel it.

As such, the beginning shares the problems I have stated I have with the ending(s). The execution, not necessarily the content.

That's the appeal for indoctrination supporters, since it never happened, Bioware is free to do what "really" happens via additional DLC.

I hate when Devs leave the endings so wide open like this. At least provide a little bit of closure.

What more do you need me to say? It appeals to emotion by super imposing words, music, speech and cuts to other scenes that was not there in the game and is completely out of context of what is being said in order to convince you that this was their plan all along, judging from your idiotic post, it seems they were right.

That's what the Indoctrination theorists forget. Basically, these people are in denial and hope that the theory is true so that Bioware can come out with the real ending.

I always saw Sovereign's death as a result of it pouring its energy into Saren. When Saren died, Sovereign was temporarily weakened and the fleet was able to destroy it. IMO, it was more based on luck than anything else. Now with ME3, it is pretty clear that the Reapers have weakspots which need to be hit for massive damage, but lets face it, that is the case with most things in life.

That's where the hate stems from though. BioWare crams the kid down our throats and thinks we give a shit about him. But because it's so contrived and transparent and plays to none of the advantages of developing real emotional attachments in an interactive medium, nobody actually gives a shit. Yet we're supposed to have nightmares, and believe them. We're supposed to weep. We're supposed to have some emotional attachment to the star child because it's a dead kid.

The ending really is something you think up when drunk or high and think you are so smart. But most people wake up, look at what they wrote down and go 'lol, thats pretty dumb' and throw it away before someone else sees it and laughs at them for being dumb. But these two people, in charge of the ending of a multimillion dollar game series, thought 'LOTS OF SPECULATION FOR EVERYONE!? Thats brilliant!'. :lol

He's not saying they are actually gods, he's saying that their projection of themselves as such was a better 'explanation' of their motives than actually explaining their motives. Also, Sovereign's shields turned off after you killed Saren, because he had assumed direct control so that caused a feedback loop or something.
