So, I just beat it. Not gonna read all 10k posts so can someone summarize the crux of the rage? Not to stir the pot, but what was so god-awful terrible about that that it demands a petition to have the entire ending changed? The kid?

I picked to have Shep pull an Illusive Man and control the Reapers. Dunno what happens with the other endings yet; I need to check them on youtube. I thought the ending I got was appropriate. Shepard sacrifices himself for the good of all, both organic and synthetic. I had built up my character to care about both equally so it was fitting. His sacrifice at the end was also very, uh, Jesus-like, which is basically the character in a nutshell.

The one major beef I had with the ending was with Harbinger. First of all, he should have been guarding the transport beam entire damn time. It's completely silly that it was guarded by a basic Destroyer.

And then Harbinger just lands and completely cleans house - nearly murdering Shepard when everything else had failed to do so - then just leaves? Where exactly did he go? That got a serious short shrift. He's built up as not only the oldest and wisest Reaper, but utterly superior in a fight, and he just disappears when his species' fate hangs in the balance.

Try the other endings, and get back to us.

Seeing all the events and reactions today have almost made the terrible ending worth it.
This is more entertainment than I could have possibly imagined.

Let it sink in for a while. I had the same initial reaction.

Don't worry, this is how I felt mere hours ago. You'll come around, especially once you watch all of the other endings on youtube and once you have time to reflect on everything.

What the fuck why do you release that info.
When you have like 40~50k angry people on the internet really you wanna screw them even more.

Arthurius Indoctrination detected.....
Shut down VI protocol and purge database.

Just ran into Gray Fox/Robin. That was...unexpected. Not sure what I think of him yet.

So someone else should summarize for you, but your not stirring the pot you just don't want to read the reasons and state that you can't understand anyones reason for why they thought it was awful...

Backs away from post.

Anyone with the endings (with the explosions and all that) in a file they can mess about with want to do something? Pop it into an editing thing and put a 'cycle through the RGB spectrum' filter thingie on it and upload it to youtube as the true ending.

I hope this is a cautionary tale for developers of multi-million dollar projects who see themselves as some kind of radical auteur:

Just don't do it.

Either save it for a side project or leave it to the guys who make games like "Journey".

main gripes are lack of closure, all three endings are the same with a different tint over it, and what it does to the universe.

ME1 really had the best final boss of the series.

Every moment in the game was building up to a confrontation with Saren and Saren + Reaper Tech was just strong enough to really force Shepard on to his heels.

Yeah. It's because ME1 was thematically consistent with it's characters. You were tailing Saren the entire game and that never changed, only developed with further exposition. His moment of redemption helped finally bridge the gap between him and the Reapers, as you were forced to fight his puppet corpse animated by Sovereign.

Huh if Mac Walters is really the main writer responsible for the ending, I wonder if there's alot of internal resentment going on right now from the other writers...

Ok this one got me.

I can understand the ire behind the 'endings' but man this thread is starting to BLOW UP. Is it just a chunk of people are just now finishing the game?

Of course, big game. I had to marathon a weekend and extra day to beat it. A lot people I know are only finishing it now. Expect this thread to keep going.

This reminds me of the LOST finale, down to the stupid fans defending such a shitty ending with far-fetched theories, pretending it was about the characters all along and calling themselves "true fans".

That there are a lot of fans who think it's super important to remain loyal to a game company no matter what.

That's what I thought at first but many of them saying those things aren't happy either... it's just how they post on BSN, maybe like a BSN inside joke but not a joke.

So someone else should summarize for you, but your not stirring the pot you just don't want to read the reasons and state that you can't understand anyone...

Backs away from post.

I'm being totally genuine. I literally just beat it minutes ago and have ignored the ending talk to avoid spoilers, so I'm just curious why it got such a harsh reaction.

Gonna go check the other endings on youtube now.

Imagine if you were the dude responsible for the conclusion to Tuchanka, or the Geth-Quarian arcs, or even the stuff like Jack in Grissom or the Asari monastery.

What's weird is that they do the stupid thing action games that don't want final bosses do: ME3 puts you in a room with waves of enemies and just tells you to survive.

Except they make it frustrating to do so because so many things can one-hit kill you and make the layout confusing as hell to fight in.

It's amazing how many of the missions in ME3 are basically

-Make your way into a room.

-Activate something.

-Survive waves coming into said room.

only variation seemed to be whether you have to run away after the last wave, or if the mission just ends right there.

Like I said, just give it some time....

Yep. It is just not worth it.
