Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

All great.

"This is for Thane, you son of a bitch!" was pretty good, too, even though it necessitated them being negligent idiots and turning their back to his supposed corpse.
So hilarious. The second he falls Shepherd just hops into the seat and the two party members just stare blankly out the window while the grunting, panting Kai Leng scrapes his sword along the floor behind them.

-or that they have absolutely nothing, and are trying to let the internet hate machine wear itself down before releasing a statement that says "ending DLC (maybe) coming soon, in the meantime, buy Omega DLC and finish Aria's story! You also get a new multiplayer map!"

.

I'll go with this option, seems the most logical.

The Avenger thing is a recurring issue in the series. My Engineer is constantly carrying it in all the games, even though I never used an assault rifle until halfway through ME2.

I don't understand why they can't just have you use your currently equipped weapon, but it must be animation needs or something.

I wish they were just consistent about it. Have the predator/avenger/default gear be present in every cutscene instead of it cutting in and out randomly.

You already lost* when you paid attention to kotaku.

*if you're not prepared to die

I feel that all that a trade-in plan would do is feed a ton of money to gamestop AND ea when people inevitably repurchase the game.

Anybody else think wanting to include Shep in it was a little bit over the top? I get it already, he's the saviour of the galaxy...

Why did he have to die, btw? Did I miss something? I know he had retained some reaper code, but is that it?

The code wouldn't disseminate, if I remember, unless he went back into the server himself and did it manually. Doing so cost him his life. Sacrifice himself for the sake of all Geth. Definitely loved Legion.

Every Wrex and Grunt moment in the game. There were many a time when Wrex or Grunt would do something of their typical bad ass nature, and I would think "YEAAAAAAH BUDDY!". Total hype for all things bad ass Krogan.

Hell, I remember when the Salarian Dalatross pops up and sells you on faking the genophage cure, and I actually reflexively said out loud "fuck you bitch".

And then Wrex headbutts Wreav for talking out of line and disrespecting the boss.

Give me a Krogan spinoff pls.

After seeing my people die I was nervous Grunt wasn't going to make it.

I love the Krogan, they do deserve a spin off.

Nah, just to gamestop, since EA gets no cut of the used sales.

I say just straight up sell them on Amazon or something if people are unhappy with what they got. Having a much cheaper alternative to the new game is way more likely to sting than the few more copies that will sell for $5 less.

Well yeah, the vagueness and sheer stupidity of the idea makes it hard to pick, but that's kind of why I also think it's the best option, because the game just goes "oh this is the new choices that brings peace and makes everyone super amazing plus it's the hardest to unlock".

What are the requirements for the Synthesis ending?

Well we don't have a lot of options to make our point. Also, EA/BW would have to fix it to get people to repurchase the game, don't you think? I mean I know everyone is different, but personally I can't even enjoy the multiplayer anymore now that I've finished the campaign. I have the CE and am a big Mass Effect fan, but I really feel like they just pissed on everything I love about it, so why keep it? I'll just get bitter and shake my head every time I see it sitting on my shelf.

Why would it be undesirable for synthetics to take over anyway? If anything, both Legion and EDI have proven that synths also live. Much of Shepards dialog concerning the subject points us to the same conclusion.

Oh boy...
I don't know what to think anymore.

I tried to read through this thread. Got about 2000 posts in and said fuck it.

What are the requirements for the Synthesis ending?

High enough EMS. I want to say higher than 2500?

It might only happen if Miranda dies, because the bulk of the conversation that I had was how much of a genetically perfect bitch Miranda was, but Tali still misses her.

Nah, Miranda lived in mine, and Tali still got drunk. It's just a really easy scene to miss, because if you don't go to the lounge between Horizon and Cerberus HQ, you'll miss it.

If she lives, it's about how Miranda was able to overcome her father, and about Tali spent so much of her life trying to live up to her father's expectations.

Because they inevitably kill all organic life, or at least, that's what the Catalyst says. Odd, isn't it, especially with the opposite thematic elements discussed in game like you said.

I think it's ~3000. Max you can get in a normal game for galactic readiness is about 7500 or so, depending on your 'choices', so your max EMS without NG+, Ios game, or Multi is about 3750 or so.

That's to be expected... the people more invested in the franchise have finished the game, so the ones just completing it now probably don't think the ending "is that bad". Also, can't really sustain the level of rage that was there yesterday.

However, I don't know if people moving is the best scenario for Bioware here. As always I can only speak for myself, but if in a couple of days this thread is dead, Mass Effect 3 uninstalled and so on, any "solution" they come up will not interest me, but I sure as hell will still think twice before pre-ordering any game from them again.

But hey, they have a multiplayer event this weekend... so everything is better... (isn't a bit soon for these events?)

The thing is going out of hand real fast, but BSN is a bit over dramatic.
I'm a fan of Mass Effect like the next guy and I found the endings disappointing like everybody else, but surprisingly I hit "Acceptance" stage faster than I thought.
Don't know, I can understand that people invested hundred of hours in this trilogy. I mean I LOVED Deus Ex HR and The Witcher 2 last year, maybe more than any ME games, but they both had pretty shitty endings (especially HR....TW 2 was ok I guess...sort of...). And there are a lot of great wrpg that I love that ended badly. KOTOR2 (for obvious reasons), Bloodlines to some degree...even New Vegas that has like 10 minutes of detailed consequences of every single subquests you did (amazing, and could have been perfect for Mass Effect as well...every major race/characters narrating what happened to them after the ending)...the ending of the main quest was nothing worthy of note (fuck you Gamebryo, btw). I can be mad for some days but then I move on pretty easily.

I thought it was if you chose Miranda as your LI for the game... which I did. Also figured that was why I had the drunk Ashley scene, too.

Bleargh. Synthetic ending is the "best," in the sense that it is a "reward" for doing well with the EMS? That is bullshit man. Humans are the best because of genetic diversity, force fed to us especially since ME2. But nah, man, genetic diversity and unique races now sucks. Lets all be Cyborgs!

I like the charity thing not because I think it will amount to any kind of change (or necessarily warrants one), but because it's, at the very least, positive means of venting frustration. It does send a message and does so in a way that helps people in a surprisingly selfless manner.

That and I'm fascinated that some guy donated something like $10,000. I mean fuck.

Yeah you need 3000 EMS to get the red, green or blue options. If you get lower than 3000 you just get access to the red and blue option. At 4,000 you get red, green, blue and a half arsed shep breathing scene IF you saved the collector base. If you destroyed the collector base you need to get an EMS of 5000 to see Shepard breathing.

One thing that has amazed me about all this is the nastiness of the gaming press towards those that hate the endings. I really cannot understand where the gaming press are coming from, in nearly all polls 80-90% hate the endings in Mass Effect 3, there is no "split" here. The endings are bloody awful, even if you aren't a long time fan the quality and substance of the endings is appalling. It is kinda sad to see outlets like Forbes (that know squat about gaming) actually being on the End haters sides.

I hope Bioware at least matches the donations when it tells us to fuck off.

Has this been posted yet?

this song and ME3's ending were made for each other.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKNmMnCQpVU

Haha. Perfect. Except Evangelion's endings were better. Both of them. All three in a couple years? Almost certainly.

I think most of these have been stated before, but someone over at the BSN compiled them. While some of the 'resolution' is certainly semantic, depending on the in-game resolution versus an epilogue resolution, some of this PR talk is just so blatantly just that it's kinda funny.

*QUOTES*

Also, BSN has mellowed somewhat. Bioware's share your favorite moments while we're trying to agree on an official stance to take, but will have an answer "soon"(TM) strategy is starting to wear people down.

Urgh... So many blatant lies. :(

What's the problem? You didn't think the interrupts actually meant anything 95% of the time, did you?

Pushing that guy out of the window was the best interrupt, that one and the electrocute one... I could not help myself even on paragon play throughs

"I've got nothing to say to you :/"
*Push*
"how about goodbye?"

Compared to Meer? Are you kidding?

she is literally brutal

i will literally take meers normal guy talking like a plank over her bipolar bullshit

I AM SHEPARD GOD I AM SO ANGRY but now i am quiet BUT FEEL THE MENACE YOU TROGLODITE but now i am just kind of hazy and sleepy

during a conversation with a kid who wants another balloon or something

just woeful

I thought it was if you chose Miranda as your LI for the game... which I did. Also figured that was why I had the drunk Ashley scene, too.

Nope, I was FemShep, so definitely not my LI.

Also: Someone who HATES Jennifer Hale's work? Wow. That's a first. I've seen people prefer MaleShep, but to hate FemShep?

People who care too much:

Oh god. I'm so dirty. Must get clean. At least I missed Top 5!

That guy didn't deserve being pushed out the window. The krogan who tries to lecture you on the other hand deserved everything he got. Never missed that one.

fuck me hale is an awful voice actress

either overacts or completely misses the emotional tone required in a scene
The main problem is, Shepard is a male. Fem shep is the equivalent of one of those knock off Apple Ipads in Korea or something.

Yeah. I get the threat of synths killing all organic life. But why would that be so bad? It would probably mean a stable universe populated by inorganic life. Problem solved.

The only offputting about shepard is when she goes all butch in her lesbo romance scenes. Male Shep doesn't exist.

This completely. It's stuff like this that actually makes me look at the gaming community and think of how awesome they can be at times.

duki you've never been so correct before

Well, there is an Illusive Man interrupt at the end that matters if you can't convince him to shoot himself.
If you don't successfully interrupt him, he shoots you, and you have to start that entire citadel scene all over again.

You're really being generous calling BSN a "bit" over dramatic...

As other have said, apathy is the biggest problem here. I got a little bit mad over the "Speculations from everyone" yesterday, but I'm back in acceptance now. Still don't see myself buying anything like "Omega DLC", but maybe I will replay the main game a bit later. That is drastic difference from my behavior from past games where I would immediately start a second run.

Deus Ex :HR I get, bad endings (but at least didn't come out of nowhere), but I keep seeing people citing The Witcher 2, and for me that ending was okay for what is clearly the middle of the story. Fallout New Vegas was meh... the whole "main" plot wasn't the game strongest point anyway, it was all in the sidequests, and no one can say your actions didn't have any effect.

Compared to Meer? Are you kidding?

Yeah, Hale may miss the mark sometimes, but one word about Meer: "STEEEEEEEVE"
