The Swedish entries are always over-hyped whenever they go classic/modern europop

I'm betting on the old russian ladies personally.

Haha, and Jedward again!

As a person from the Netherlands, I have absolutely no idea who "Joan Franka" is.
Never even heard her name before, but apparently she's representing my country.

Shows how much we care, I guess. I'm staying for the .gif's.

Lol, don't you read newspapers? It has been all over them... especially the fact she is wearing a Native American feather..thing... and that she was 'threatened' by some Native American organisation.

OMGGGGGGGGGGG

I wanted to make this thread (like my buddy and me last year) so badly.
But I wanted to wait until tomorrow, because not all songs have been revealed, but its ok you were faster. Love eurovision.

I think the UK unveils its Engelbert Humperdinck WMD on Monday.

I always wondered why we (The UK) have never just thrown a bunch of money at Tom Jones to enter and clean house. I guess Engelbert Humperdink is close enough. and probably a lot cheaper.

I'm assuming Ireland are sending Jedward again because they can't afford to host next year and are actively trying to lose.

After the Gina G fiasco we just gave up even trying to take it half-seriously.

I think we're trying extra hard this year because of the Olympics and the Jubilee, Rule Britannia and all that ;)

You've taken it quite seriously the past five years, sending big names on lobby trips around Europe. Did quite well last year, though.

I can tell. Except we should have done this last year. Our song was good, but not exactly guaranteed points. Although I hate to think how much frivolous "culture" crap London would end up with if we hosted the Olympics and ESC months from each other.

I'm looking forward to another year where swedish journalists hype up their own entry as the best and then proceed to calling the competition a joke, complain about block voting e.t.c. and then pretend to not care when they, yet again, don't win.

Ok to be honest I haven't read anything this year, but that's usually what happens.

Either way, I can't wait. Eurovision never fails to entertain.

Yeah the 'don't give a toss' phase lasted about 10 years, entering some truly horrible things while Terry Wogan got increasingly drunk and angry at the voting patterns during the shows.

We finally got bored of that, and they started sorting out the voting, but not before Terry couldn't take it anymore and quit :(

Craziest thing is that Spinvis actually said a couple of years back that he wanted to go Eurovision. Since then we had Sieneke, The Toppers, The 3J's, Hind and now Joan Franka. He hasn't even been invited by the TROS. The station is really the epitome of bad taste.

I never really follow eurovision much but I fucking love this year's song from us, video:

I like it. Balkans stuff is always cool if it's NOT the usual metro-sexual guy/"sexy" chick..
Bosnia 2008 - never forget. NEVER!

ugh..

Out of the songs I've heard, Euphoria has it in the bag. The song is immediate and catchy and loreen's performance style memorable and distinctive.

Spain should do well too, but I can't see anyone catching loreen. If the russian song was better they may have a chance but I can't see them winning on novelty alone.

That russian song is awful, they're not even singing in sync. The only reason it gets attention is because it's sung by a bunch of old ladies.

Belgium with yet another boring ballad too =/

i think its ok. i dont like the french-english míx, but I think it could've been much worse

Still, it's neither good nor bad enough to be enjoyable. Just really bland.

Hope it's another good year like 2010. Still have Thunder & Lightning (Bosnia), Satellite (Germany) and We Could Be The Same (Turkey) on my iPod. And then you still had Jessy Matador's song which was excellent for soccer, Tom Dice for Belgium and probably a couple of other nice songs I have forgotten.

Me and friends have a tradition of watching the ESC, it's the best comedy on TV these days.
But this year, our (Israel) song is actually pretty awesome! They picked a pretty cool indie band called Izabo, of light internet fame for some cool music videos they did.

here's the song, Time.

Too bad we'll place in the bottom 5 places :P

Spanish here. I don't know anyone from here who cares about this, I don't think anyone really knows who's supposed to represent us. Our best representative ever was a muthafuckin comedian with a plastic guitar.
