So what you're saying is, Walls are good when they're no longer Walls!

Yeah, I can't afford Birds of Paradise or Noble Hierarchs right now :-( I can get Steel Walls and Rhox War Monks I guess, but I think I'll hold off till I make major deck revisions and make do with some cards from drafts. Which basically means a single Selfless Cathar and Copperhorn Scout for one mana creatures, lol.

I also have a True Conviction but I don't know if it's worth putting in the deck.

There are better creature choices. Let me look into it.

Also I realized the Borderposts can be your 1 drop.

T1:
Island/Forest/Plains
Bounce to your hand for Borderpost.

Also the Noble Hierarchs are probably outside of your budget, unless you already have those. They're like $10-$15 a pop. Also is there any specific reason you want W/U/G or do you just like those colors?

A 3 drop to consider:
Rhox War Monk

Yeah, I just like those colors. And it seems like everyone is psyched about Rhox War Monk, so I might shove that in instead of the walls?

I REALLY REALLY want those double mana lands, but they're like 300 bucks a pop, my whole deck was only 40 :-(

The ones that require two life or they come in tapped (from Ravnica I think) are a decent, cheaper alternative.

I think I just made the most assholish deck I've ever come up with.

As long as I mulligan to a liquimetal coating I can destroy every single permanent they drop: lands, enchantments, creatures, even planeswalkers.

So far it's been hilariously disgusting. So much rage.

There have been hints dropped that they're doing something cool with duals this upcoming set. Hopefully it's not just hot air.

...transforming duals?

Haven't they said there won't be double faced cards in Avacyn Restored since it is a big set like Rise of the Eldrazi and mechanically separate from the Innistrad/DA?

Add buried ruin to get the coatings back.

Good idea.

I've played about a dozen matches now and whether I win or not is entirely dependent on either having a coating in my opening hand or drawing one early. It's either completely dominant or completely useless. =p

What's the optimal number of cards you should have in your deck and what is the actual limit for most rules?

I keep finding that I have 60-80 cards in my deck.

Optimal is 60, limit is whatever you can feasibly shuffle. There have been competitive 300 card decks, but they were all focused on Battle of Wits.

I've been trying to branch out from Swamp and Swamp/Mountain, so I decided to make a Forest/Mountain deck.

I think I just made the most assholish deck I've ever come up with.

I have about four cards with Storm in my deck, so I can just get a massive amount of copies and take out land.

My preference for standard combo:

It's not really amazing (you still have to pay 1 to deal 2 damage to any target), but it all fits amazingly in a heartless pod deck, and every card is relevant on its own. You just play an aggro game until you're able to pod into lich, then you win the game.

It's fun, I strongly recommend trying it out if you have a fairly casual LGS :P

I wonder if they were to ever do transforming lands what would cause it to flip? Would be amazing if say you don't drop a land this turn and it transforms to give you duo colors next upkeep. Just give me a reprint of Seachrome Coast. :\

My friend plays Heartless Summoning and I hate that combo. >:\

*confused* Everything I know about Legacy (which admittedly isn't much) suggests there is no way that should ever work.

I don't any much either, but I'd guess the best decks don't deal with hexproof very well? a 4/4 flying geist of st traft is scary, and Psionic Blast suggests he wants to go 20-0 in a couple of turns I think.

Does exalted work on geist? It triggers before the angel?

Ahahaha, some part of me finds that hilarious. Guy walks in to a Legacy tournament with a deck no-ones even heard of and takes it to first. Its like the plot to an awesome 80s movie

EDIT: I'm 99% sure that yeah, you choose how to stack the Exalted and the Angel triggers

Congrats to the guy for winning with a rogue deck, but what a weird pile. I think I'm going to check the archive and watch the finals to see it in action.

The manabase for competitive decks across all formats tends to be expensive. But if you're just playing casually with friends or low-key FNM, you should be able to get away with simple fetch lands as mana fixers. Tap lands are also fairly affordable; the stuff that fixes mana without sacrificing tempo (usually through sacrificing life) is the expensive stuff.

I didn't know Block Constructed was played enough for people to care about it's B&R list. I haven't seen anyone pay attention to it in years. Apparently this is the first Block banning since Mirrodin too.

It's played heavily on MODO, and it's the format for the next Pro Tour. The Token decks were hands down the best decks in the format. Nothing else could compete.

Yes. Standard is (roughly) the last 2 years of sets, whereas Block is the just the sets within the last block. So currently, Standard is Scars up, including M12, while Block is just Innistrad and Dark Ascension.

It turns out those Spectral Flights were not actually supposed to be in the deck xDDD He just couldn't find his Rancors.

Other baffling things:

8 mana dorks instead of GSZ + Dryad Arbor?
PSIONIC BLAST? WTF? Why not Swords to Plowshares?

He was trying specifically to avoid interacting with his opponents. I suspect Psi Blast was doming people more often than not.

Is there any place where I can see this deck in action?

I have to see it to believe it.

This is a little off topic, but does anyone know of reliable, trustworthy sites that might buy my old yugioh cards? Aside from craigslist, ebay, other auction sites.

I have MtG cards too, some of them pretty old, but I didn't take anywhere near as good care of them as I did later when I started playing yugioh...
