Wasn't accusing him of such. Just saying, if I was the one who wrote the thing, I would be a little annoyed that I wouldn't at least get to be on the stage with Lindelof and Scott.
How many screenwriters are part of the publicity for movies though? What about the composer? Or the director of photography? Is it a realistic expectation?
We live in a glorious, blessed time where this film exists.
My God.
UK trailer definitely not as good as the US one.
This will do some mad cash.
Michael Fassbender is doing (not sure if this is a spoiler)in the UK trailer.a great android
Just watched the trailer, had a "WTF?" moment when I saw that. So this is looking like it may have more to do with Alien than Scott was leading us to believe? I thought he'd pretty well made it sound like it didn't really have shit to do with Alien?
I really hope Idris Elba's accent doesn't take me out of the film. I really like him but I think i've heard three different accents from him in the trailers so far.
Looking fucking awesome.
Please don't let me down. Please don't somehow ruin Alien.
Even if this disappoints, I hope it kills at the box office, just to encourage more movies like this.
This cannot, and will not disappoint. At least not in any way that isn't minor quibbles. There is far too much good readily apparent in the trailer to not walk out of the theater at least satisfied.
But I believe the egg chamber was initially supposed to be found in the pyramid, not the ship (then again, you did say "coincidentally" ^^).This might be a bit far fetched but I remember someone pointing out the ship has a similar shape as the alien cycle concept art, and the egg chamber is coincidentally is in the center of it (I think?)
I seem to remember they were initially meant to be benevolent, but cheap drama gotta cheap...I didn't know Jockey's were bad guys
Definitely. Not that we've heard much, but it's Lindelof, so...One thing I'm worried about is that the dialogue seems like your average dramatic Hollywood stilted type. Not that it's bad, but it doesn't seem to compare at all to that wonderfully realistic chit chat that takes place in Alien.
Er... What about the story? Kinda important, in science fiction...This cannot, and will not disappoint. At least not in any way that isn't minor quibbles. There is far too much good readily apparent in the trailer to not walk out of the theater at least satisfied.
I'm tripping red ballztook a crapload of hi-res screens from the apple version, check them out here:
here's a few, including david's headcam?
You know, something's been bugging me about all of this.We know we're going to see something about the Space Jockey. We know there's a gigantic mid-air crash, which will cause the Space Jockey ship to plummet back to the planet. There's a lot here leading up to Alien, right?
Here's the thing.
Where does the following image from Alien...fit in?
http://www.fmtaccess.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Ridley-reveals-Space-Jockey.jpg
Clearly, there's a large, gaping hole in the Space Jockey's ribcage, where something had to have punched outward. Chestburster, obviously.
So if this is the same Space Jockey, it has to survive the crash. If it doesn't, then it cannot be the Space Jockey in Alien, since a chestburster requires a living host.
And if this Jockey survives the crash, then it's rather appropriate for a Jockey to become impregnated. It'd fit rather nicely within the series' fatalistic irony.
So yeah. It's going to be interesting...
Er... What about the story? Kinda important, in science fiction...
It is easily my most anticipated film of the year, though there are still some things that irk me. For one, I have not seen any indication that Woola is in this movie. And I've poured over those high res screens of the murals on the wall.
Ridley for a long time, if not always, thought the Space Jockeys we're creating biological weapons. So I don't think he thought they were benevolent.I seem to remember they were initially meant to be benevolent, but cheap drama gotta cheap...
And then there would be the story: if it's anything like the supposed synopsis out there (and boy do the trailers seem to fit), it's pretty damn terrible.
The story will be fine. Lindelof didn't disappoint with Lost, and he won't disappoint here.

Okay, okay, STOP HITTING ME! I'M SORRY!

The most recent trailers prove a large chunk of that old synopsis wrong. Right of the bat it doesn't identify Pearce's character as Peter Weyland. It seems pretty clear that it was fan speculation based off what little information had leaked.
The derelict ship contains several thousand Alien eggs. It is suggested by Ridley Scott in the director commentary to the film that the Space Jockey's ship was an "aircraft carrier or battlewagon of a civilization, and the eggs were a cargo which were essentially weapons. Like a large form of bacterialogical/biomechanoid warfare." The eggs, which are kept in the ship's hold, could presumably be dropped on an enemy planet, and the Aliens would proceed to kill the population as they spawned. "The Space Jockey was...the driver of the craft who is now, after many ages...has started to look like a perfect example of...where does biology end and technology begin, because he seems to have grafted...into what essentially was...a pilot's seat. But clearly from here, this is where the transmission would emanate from probably in an automatic transmission. So this creature obviously had experienced, maybe one of the eggs had been disturbed and a creature had got out, had attacked the rest of the crew...but let's say he was a part of the civilization he came from and now had melded into his seat." The Nostromo's computer, Mother, starts to translate the Space Jockey's transmission and it appears to Ripley to be a warning.
Is that from Lighthouse? Probably one of the worst episodes of Lost.
How can this be so good?
How can this be so good?
It was bad, but it paled in comparison to how horrible Stranger in a Strange Land was.
