I have to admit my curiosity of Melody of Oblivion is pretty strong. I may have to front load that series and marathon it before a lot of other things. I'm pretty intrigued by how bad it could be and I really have to find out what the hell is going on in that
milking
scene.

Looking through my backlog, I realised I stopped watching halfway through Sora no Otoshimo Forte, which means I watched the whole of the first season, so to dig deeper into this phenomenon, I started watching it again, and suddenly it all made sense.

Basically...

Sora no Otoshimo Forte - 07

The Light of El Cantare

Note that Kagenui suddenly drops it, at the very end. Another fake.

Well that's sad. I love characters with regional accents, there aren't nearly enough of them. For some reason I really love it when female characters use the personal pronoun "uchi". Not exactly sure whether it's Kansai, Osaka, or whatever, but it's really cute.

Anyone remember the blacksmith girl from Blue Exorcist? Man I loved the way she spoke.

I started this last week. I've heard good things, but the first episode felt like a brick wall. Will continue, but it's resisting me a bit.

What I like about SG through the first 3 episodes is the main character. He's like the super paranoid cousin of Kyon (from Melancholy).

As for Black Rock Shooter, I suppose I'll check it out. I saw the OVA last year and thought it was incredibly boring. But I think a lot of OVAs I've seen are.

And DY_nasty's last post reminds me that I have yet to finish Penguindrum. I stopped about 4 episodes in when it was airing. I should restart that soon.

Eh... I've heard about it.

You pretty much got me into Penguins, would you recommend BRS too?

It's not really anything like Penguin Drum. It is, however, totally insane. And the action scenes are directed by the guy who did Gurren Lagann. Plus it has this stuff:

In all seriousness, I never tell people to watch anything I wouldn't watch myself. That's why I will never suggest anyone watch Angel Beats, not even my worst enemy. Plus, Black Rock Shooter is only 8 episodes. That's a lot shorter than Guilty Crown.

Consider that Im currently working througH:

Ano Natsu, SPace Pirates, Chihayafuru, Rinne, Nichibros, Inu X Boku, Another, Code Geass R2 and about to start several others. I can only do so much. The hnnng to free time ratio is staggering.

Ouch. Yeah I've got way too many shows on my backlog too.

And most of the time I can't decide on which one to continue first so I just stare at my list and end up getting distracted with GAF.

And the train continues. This ep was much more subdued that than the previous, but the general uncertainty kept things really interesting. I don't at all dig reducing Yuyama's character to that of a
Akidzuki love-puppy, but her purpose could also be to seal the head,
since the whole mantra of the ep was realizing your true enemy anyway. It'd still be convenient, but it'd be a purpose preferable to the former.

Kanna may be destined to lose--horribly, but he's a boss legit. The respective war marches to the north were awesome.

I think the best thing to do is always doubt when someone says you should watch something.

So yea, stay away from BRS.
If you are in the mood to watch something unabashedly awful, then watch BRS. If not, then by all means run.

Okay, so at least now my expectations are in the right area... I'll give it a shot before surrendering my soul to One Piece or something like that.

This is the problem I have, plus if I want to watch my DVD's on my computer it has a strange knack for displaying them UPSIDE DOWN and mirrored.
At first I thought this was chiefly because I tried to make it play Tales from Earthsea DVD but it turns out that it doesn't even like to display good anime discs.

Sage advice here.

The BRS OVA is pretty decent, though you might be bored in between the action bits. The BRS tv series, on the other hand, is another one of those cruel jokes AnimeGAF likes to play on people.

A cruel joke would be recommending Angel Beats or Elfen Lied. I only ever recommend things with legitimate entertainment value. It may not be the entertainment the creators intended, but death of the author, etc., etc.

Angel Beats does have entertainment value. It is a bad show but I liked it enough to buy it on BLuray. Elfen Lied the same really. These shows are serviceable and at least have good music.

Hey, Elfen Lied's fun.

Holy shit, shit got fucking real. This episode makes up for the last 2 episodes. Just... shit man. And that preview for the next episode. Good action/mech fighting, good music, and shit did things get real. I'm looking forward to the OST release if it gets one.

I'm starting to wonder if she's going to end up killing everyone on Earth and destroying the planet. There's the very Eva-esque shot on the beach, and it's either in her mind or she's going to completely destroy everything. It also seems that the Voxes are capable of evolving too. They show the huge fucking fleet, mention that the enemy ovids are piloted by people, and THOSE FACES OF HORROR at the end. Everyone in every location looks completely horrified at what's about to happen.

Yoko appears to be potentially dead now. From the attack that happened, the shot at the town was crazy, and it's good that those three got there with their subspace shields just in time, but not in time enough to protect everyone. There's definitely some major damage that happened despite what they deflected.

I'm also glad the trio finally made up their minds to follow in the path that Yurikano would, and that brofist triangle was funny.

If this kind of tension keeps building, the finale to the first cour is going to be pretty exciting, and potentially take the series in a crazy direction.

So it's time to resume Rinne again?
Impressions of the latest episode seem to indicate the lull is over. I hope that's the case because I will gladly pick it back up. I kind of miss my WAN and MARU :(

Yay, they're finally addressing a number of my problems with the show, too bad they were 4 episodes late in doing so. :|

Its fun. Its how I imagined an anime would turn out if everyone in the studio was drunk throughout the entire production process.

I'm having fun with Ano Hana, by the way. It's definitely not up to Ano Natsu's level, but Anaru's great.

I don't know what to say to you.

A. It's very violent and gorey
B. I don't find gore entertaining/funny

Therefore,

C. I won't find Elfen Lied to be fun.

Huh, somehow I just realized that you can link Ano Natsu and Ano Hana through both Haruka Tomatsu and Ai Kayano playing roles with feelings for the MC.

yoko being potentially dead, the town almost getting nuked, the rin-ne being activated and the horrifying atmosphere of the pv are making me fell rather gut-wrenchingly numb. i really hope this show doesn't go all eva on us... i just wanted maru's and wan's ;_;

So you mean it's finally getting tolerable again? why wouldn't you want that?!

I cannot understand why anyone likes Milky Holmes. :(

to be fair, I've only watched a smidgeon of the first episode of the first season, and the first 2 episodes of the second season, but that was enough to convince me it was terrible.

Admittedly I am not completely confident in my statement, as I have only seen S1 E1 and S2 E3 so far. My impression though is that the episodes you watched are the weakest parts of the series. S2 E3 is pretty crazy and was what got me interested in checking out the rest, so you might want to give that a try if you ever feel so inclined.
