to be fair, I've only watched a smidgeon of the first episode of the first season, and the first 2 episodes of the second season, but that was enough to convince me it was terrible.

So you watched bits and pieces of three of the least representative episodes of the entire franchise, including all of the two worst episodes of either season (the first two episodes of S2), and you think that that's somehow enough to say you hate it?

It just doesn't work that way...

The new villain tries a different method than Jadeite. Focus on gathering all the energy from just one person, rather than trying to brainwash a group and steal their energy.

The chosen victim is a friend of Narue's, who has a killer serve, that's made even more killer by the youma possessing her racket.

Usagi wants to take this battle all by herself, since she's still annoyed at Luna's and Rei's teasing. Luna, meanwhile, has been doing lots of background fact checking to find out just who they're up against.

Predictably though, the villain's plan doesn't work, all due to Tuxedo Mask's amazing fabulousness. Just check out how pimping he was this episode, cane and all.

However, it's not all perfect for Tuxedo Mask - right at the crucial moment,

he falls prey to some sort of illness/attack, and has to flee the field, leaving Sailor Moon to deal the final blow.

It's always nice to have an episode that gives more screen time to the side characters, especially if they're cute girls like Narue. ^^

wait - this last is one is horrifying, not cute at all!

LoGH Gaiden: Spiral Labyrinth - END

This was even more inconsequential and less interesting than the last LoGH Gaiden series. When we finally get to the more meaningful Third Battle of Tiamat, it amounts to a bunch of narration and then Reinhard steamrolling the vastly inferior opposition. And don't get me started about the inadequacies of early digital animation - at least there was one episode with passable mechanical animation.

Still, the principal characters are as entertaining to watch as ever and a couple of the stories had some interesting plotting going on. It was worth watching.

Always good to get some more Reinhard-Kircheis bonding scenes.

One more movie and then I'll be done with the franchise. At least until I feel like rewatching the whole thing.

You're right - it is moving on. Basically, her mother was worried that Jintan would be stuck on her after she died. Menma's death just made him worse... and so, the whole thing she wanted was to be able to help him move on with his life while keeping the memory of his mother in mind. It's exactly what happens with Menma's family and ultimately, it's what happens with Jintan. It's why it ends with him going back to school, after all. Then there's the fact that the flower is called the "Forget-me-not".

For all the show's structural problems, the ending was so inevitable that I don't get people who thought her wish was as literal as

having Jintan laugh/cry or whatever it was.
